DigiTech

The outer reaches of distortion-dom.

The DigiTech Death Metal Distortion Pedal gives you the most extreme distortion you will ever hear. Simply put, the gain is turned up to eleven and then the knob is ripped off. Level, Low, Mid, and High tone controls provide flexible tone shaping so even though the distortion is over the top, your guitar is guaranteed to slice through. Low, Mid, and High tone controls give you the flexibility to boost or cut the bass, middle, and treble frequencies and the Level knob boosts the output level of your signal. An Amp output goes to your amplifier and the dedicated Mixer output has a cabinet emulation circuit that lets you run direct into a mixer or recorder when you don't want to lug your amp along.

I got this pedal recently because I was looking for a nice little distortion for my setup that would fit my budget. Here is my review:Features:This pedal has alot of tonal ability, its not sterile or plastic sounding. Its got a very nice distortion tone, even with solid state amps. It has a 3 band EQ, Low for your bass, Mid for, well mids, and High for your treble(bite). It has a level knob that controls more of volume then Gain, which is kind of a flaw. This pedal has no gain control knob(which actually can be installed with a little Soldering and a 100K pot, but shouldn't have to be). Overall a 4.5/5 for features.Quality: This box is amazing looking and very durable! It has a beautiful painting, and it is built like a tank! Dont worry about buying a cheap box that will break easy, cuz this one sure will hold together! Sound quality is also great as well. 5/5 for quality.Value: No distortion is better for the price. If your looking for a great metal distortion for cheap, this is the way to go. It has little feedback(for me anyway) and sounds incredible! And its construction is amazing so for the price, you can't go wrong. 5/5 for value.Overall: a 4.5/5 because this pedal should have been equip with a gain knob. But still sounds amazing!GET IT!

      one trick pony

it's built like a tank. that's good. it has tons of drive. that's good . . . if you need TONS of drive. if you need a little less drive. . sorry....Read complete review

it's built like a tank. that's good. it has tons of drive. that's good . . . if you need TONS of drive. if you need a little less drive. . sorry. there's no knob for that. if you DO need tons of drive, this one does have a beautiful sounding drive.

it's a NOISY pedal. even with my EMG's which are dead silent on almost everything, this pedal amplifies everything. if you don't deaden a string when you should, the world will know it. it's also very treble-ey. you can (thankfully) turn down the treble, but for the scooped guys who want 10-0-10, this will end up being 10-0-5.

I will probably swap this out for something . . .adjustable.
I gave this a three for features because there really aren't any. you can adjsut the volume, bass, mid and treble. there is no adjustment for drive, so this thing is either "balls to the wall" or "off".
built like a tonka toy. like they say, the problem with indestructable toys, is they are good for breaking other toys. if I glued my guitar cable into this, I could use it to kill a viking.
as I said, it's a one trick pony. if you need loud, noisy, heavy treble biased distortion, this is for you ! otherwise, sorry charlie, that's all you get.

Comments about DigiTech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got this cheap at my local music store because it was on sale as they wanted to get rid of all there stomp boxes as they weren't going to carry guitar stuff anymore, and when I went to buy it I found out that they where out, so they got the one off the display and gave me another discount. I had to mess around with it for a while to find a sound that I liked as I am very picky, I ended up cutting the high and boosting the low as this is a very trebley pedal.
there is no drive knob which would have been nice because I find that this pedal is a little to heavy for me. so if you just end up turning the gain/drive knob all the way up and wishing it would go further, this is for you.

Comments about DigiTech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Has a great sound, especially when combined with Chorus & Delay as described in the DigiTech book. Biggest drawback is that it zaps the 9V battery even when turned off. Went through 3 batteries before I realized that I wasn't forgetting to turn it off. I could have paid for the additional plug by now, but better yet...pedal board!

Comments about DigiTech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought on of these to just to noodle around on for fun, 90% of the time I just use my jcm2000 stack for all of my sounds but I decided to keep this one and stick it on my pedaltrain. I grew up listing to pantera a lot and early 90s metal and this pedal has a great dime sound so to speak to it and its cheap so its not a big investment. If your a kid looking for a metal pedal Im shure this will do just as fine as the next metal pedal,,but if you grew up listing to pantera and old metallica and such and want a fun alternative to add to your rig to play with, I think you will enjoy this pedal. It reminds me of the cowboys from hell album distortion..ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!

Amazing. This thing has got power, and is inexpensive. It gives you so much gain, and it is built to last through anything. If your a heavy metal player like me this is a gift from God.

Comments about DigiTech DDM Death Metal Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

The only way to use this pedal is going into the clean channel of an amp. And even then, it's way too distorted. With the level control turned all the way down and the distortion all the way down, it's still very fuzzy! I had to return it because of that.
                    Built very solid.
If you want a heavy sounding fuzz, this is the pedal to get. It's a good deal for the money.

You're not going to get blues out of this pedal. It is rabid gain monster.
Four knobs, a volume, a low, a middle, and a high. No gain knob. It's always on max.
I could hit this pedal with a hammer and all I'd have to worry about is how my hammer is doing.
The best you can get for the price.
