I bought this thing recently, and I was expecting something mediocre, but i was soon surprised. This pedal has nearly 70 preset effects, and you can tweak them to store your own arsenal of effects. The learn a lick software is useful for beginners. The recording software is handy, but if you're seriously gonna record, just do studio. I use this thing mainly for either messing around at home, or playing electric for the worship band at my church. sounds great with a Strat!
I Owned this thing for 3 years and had al lot of fun with it. As far as using it for gigging, no way. There is a short delay when switching effects sometimes. But as a learning tool, this thing rocks. It is very easy to start layering tracks immediatly. Once you're done, take the memorycard to your computer, load it on there, and burn a cd. Rad. Buy IT
Well first off this is not an effects pedal for gigs...theres a split second of delay between switching effects. Another thing is that this thing will make your amp sound so muddy that its annoying at times.I recommend you to just go all single pedals, because its a lot better than this thing.
Ok, I'll admit, I'm only 17 and have less than a year of experience under my belt, but this pedal exceeded all the expectations I had. Prior to this I had used a friends RP50, and was expecting the same that had for the tones ( good variety, but tone was noticeably bad), but I was so wrong. some of the presets w/o any tweaking killed all the other sounds I had used prior to this. Haven't used it live, but it seems sturdy. I do question actually using it live though, although thats just personal opinion that the sound would be easier to control than this behemoth. In fact, the only reasons I could see someone not buying and enjoying this is the small pedals for live shows and the fact that some people do not have the patience to tweak forever. If you aren't a big fan of tweaking, check the digitech sound community, were 1100+ patch's from users can be added via correct cables. The one I tried so far for blink182 got PERFECT tone for there clean songs, with overdrive being very, very close. Definitely recommended to someone who wants options without killing the tone.
At first I was very intimidated by this machine. I bought it for the effects on it. Let me tell you...there's TONS of effects on it. I'm no pro but after getting this I'm sounding more and more like one! The machine is complex but you can get some great sounds out of it. Just have patiences and plenty of time to go through the manual and read everything. You won't be sorry you got it!
this pedal is awesome ... the presets are ok but when u mess around with the knobs u can get any sound u want .. some presets are crappy if u mess with them and some are awesome ... this pedal may take a bit of time to figure out a perfect sound .. but u will find it ... it also has whammy , dive bomb, wah, autowah, flanger, phaser, chorus, reverb, drum machine , recorder ,etc.. it has anything u want ... i had bought a zoom pedal worth like 30 40 bux more than this ... i broght that one back ... his was much better this has almost as many effects as the gnx4 worth $500 ... my advice is if ya have the money buy it
Digitech has made a lot of cool effects stations but this one is the best I have owned this for 5 months and played it live 4 times and its amazing. So many effects are on this thing you can even make your own. I play through the Fender FM212 Special, and it sounds so good. I was inspired to get this by my friend whos in the same band with me he plays through The Valveking 212 by Peavey and it sounds awesome and when we play somewhere it sounds awesome. If you buy this you might want to buy a strong amp cuz this thing will blow you away.
I found this unit to be very noisey. The output stage was not clean and all the presets are cranked at the output stage. Dropping the output gain down to 10-12 oclock it seemed ok but I was very dissappointed and almost wondered if the one I had was defective. The computer software for modifying sounds worked well and made it easy to program and the recorder is a great feature but I was overall very dissappointed. I used to love Digitech stuff, I wonder what happened with this one.
It would appear that we have reviews that are rating the GNX3 as the best thing that has come along. On the other hand, you have those that warn you of certain things and tell you to not buy it. I will write this review the best I know how, then you make your decision. First of all it is a complex pedal board and it is on the heavy side. However, it does have some great sounds on it. One of the effects is a bass guitar. This will make your six string guitar sound just like a bass. There are many other effects that are too many to mention. If you want something to play around with, create different sounds, your willing to take the time to learn it, the GNX3 will be on the top of your list. On the other hand. This is NOT what you want for playing gigs. I have had the experince of going steping on a pedal and press two pedals instead of one. When you do that you have changed so many settings and it is a b**** to get back on track while on stage. There is a delay time on the effect kicking in. I have had the best of both worlds. In my bag of tricks I had 12 individual stomp boxs anything from a noise gate to compression, I even had a great pedal board. Instead of me holding on to these, I sold them so I could convert over to the GNX3. HUGE MISTAKE and I can't do it over again. Life has taught me a great many things and I try to learn from it. When it comes down to it, sometimes we think we need something. In reality, we don't need it at all. Having lived for 55 years now, a vet of Vietnam. There was really no reason for me having 12 pedals. Do yourself a favor and go with the least ammount of pedals possible. Even better! Buy you a great amp with overdrive, high gain, etc. If you do this, you won't have to buy as many stomp boxs. In conclusion. The GNX3 is a lot of fun playing around with in the house. The GNX3 IS NOT what you want to take on stage. There it is. I have done the best I could in writing about this product. In the end, it is your decision.
I have had my GNX3 since Xmas and the sound is killer. I wanted to give some time b4 review. I love my tones! They Rewl! Okay GNX3 has this programs hard to figure out? I rtm twice and now am in touch with what it does. It is built well. The recorder is kewl but I use spdif to my puter card. Learn a lick is great for quick lead scrubbing. After a month I bought the supermodel disc too from reading reviews. That raised the bar a bunch IMO. Stock sounds are not bad. The upgrade is amazing in tones on my GNX3. I use mine with a Fender 212r amp and a Shecter Omen. My band likes my sound very much so. Saving for an Epi Custom Les Paul. FWIW the GNX3 does more now that I thought I could with boss pedals.
