I had been searching for something to add some effects to my solos and, beef up the sound of my solos and, this is it! I'm not knocking the Boss harmony pedals, used them and, they sound Great! but, if you are a musician that performs live on stage and, doesn't want to have to twiddle with knobs the Boss units don't cut it. On the other hand this unit sets your key quicky and easily with no knob twiddling and, the preset section lets you activate your sounds with the touch of your pedal, no knob turning or trying to set the key manualy. This is what sold me and, the quality of sound is superb. I will admit that you have to work with this unit but, it's not rocket science the resuts of your efforts will be worth it! The illuminated displays make it easy to see on stage and, Hey! in all the excitement I forgot to mention this baby has a built in tuner too! The price on this unit is higher than the Boss units but well worth it. Granted you will not use this effect on every song, that's just common sense but, for the one's that you do your dreams will come true. I have been a Musician for over 40 yrs. and, I Love this new stuff keep it coming!

Comments about DigiTech HM2 HarmonyMan Intelligent Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:
This pedal is a lot of fun. It does 2 & 3 part harmony.Best on clean single note soloing. Use your palm to deaden the strings so you don't get harmonic overtones. Sometimes gets sounds like the Allman Bros.Amp built in distortion doesn't
work well w it. Gets Synth sounds sometimes.also
can get a chrous type sound. Octive down like my old Octitive multiplexer.Fun Scales.
Pros
- Excellent Pitch Tracking
- Key Detection
- Pre-distortion Input
- Sidechain
- Wide Array Of Harmonies
Cons
- Can~~~apos~~~t Use One-spot
- Minor Volume Issues
Best Uses

Comments about DigiTech HM2 HarmonyMan Intelligent Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:
I have been playing guitar for 20 years. These days I use a LTD V400 tuned to C Standard, a Jeff Beck American Strat, and a Seagull acoustic-electric through a Mesa Boogie Rectifier with a Digitech RP1000, the HM2, and an Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah. I have a pretty ridiculous patching setup to put the effects from these three boxes in the right order, both in front of the amp and in the fx loop, but it works.
I was using the harmonizer on the RP1000 but it was terrible. The tracking and the sound both were borderline unusable. I got the HM2 and it is great. It is not perfect, but I picked it up used for half price on ebay, and it is absolutely worth the money. It would even be worth the money to buy it new.
Between the automatic key detection, the sidechain, and the programmable patches, this pedal covers all of my harmony needs. The sounds are great. I think it does harmonies better than my friend's TC Electronic G Major 2.
There is one small issue - there is a very small drop in volume. The tracking is 95% good. This is okay for a very reasonably priced stomp box, but a $3000 rack unit would probably not have these problems.

Comments about DigiTech HM2 HarmonyMan Intelligent Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:
This pedal was necessary for several songs we cover in the band Worx. The Boston, Knight Ranger, etc. Very easy to use with one on/off pedal and one program pedal. Several presets you can program for fast changes between songs. Make sure to keep the intel on or you will be in minor mode. Make sure to loop the distortion back for the best results. This pedal really follows proper mode and scale steps, even with bends and tremelo dives. Lots of variations and tunings to play with as well. I prefer to not use these in recording sessions, and instead play any harmonies "manually". It will record well if needed if your g'tar player can't handle the harmonies.
Comments about DigiTech HM2 HarmonyMan Intelligent Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:
This thing is fantastic. It tracks string bends really well, while staying within the selected scale. For example, if you select C Major and select up a 3rd for the harmony, and then strike a C note and then string bend two semitones to a D note, the harmony note goes from an E (a third above C) to an F (a third above D). If you realize, this actually means you bend two semitones up and this thing is smart enough to bend up only one semitone if it is required to keep it in the selected scale - very impressive! Of course, for string bends where this thing should bend up the same number of semitones as you bend, it does it correctly, and, it will bend up two semitones when you bend up only one semitone if that is what is required to keep the harmony note within the selected scale. The way this thing handles string bends is AMAZING! The Distortion Loop is also great because you can get the harmony note on the distorted sound without messing up the fantastac tracking.
Comments about DigiTech HM2 HarmonyMan Intelligent Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:
sound quality isn't up to my expectation. features are good, but they have little to no value to me with this level of sound quality. I've been playing for just under 30 years. I have used harmonizers in the past withgreat success. but this one just doesn't hit it.
Comments about DigiTech HM2 HarmonyMan Intelligent Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:
Got this as a Christmas gift and just had to write a review after seeing a negative one. I've been using this for a couple of weeks and just scratched the surface with it. Has an incredible amount of variation. The harmonies are absolutely awesome........does take a little know how and getting used to but the typical octave and third up or/and downs are my favs so far. The only thing I could write negative about it is using it with a jamman......it is supposed to change keys with your playing and it does, but if you track with a drum machine and use a choppy rhythm it can't keep up (which is why I gave it an 8)............that's ok just punch in the key manually and watch your original chord progression!!!!!!!
This WILL open up a whole new world....... a bit pricey but is worth it

Those who write that this unit will not do standard two or three part harmonies truly do not know what they're talking about. Really? Ask someone who owns one, not someone who has used one. Like many units out there, the more time you spend working with it the more you get out of it.This thing is amazing. Sometimes I use it for drop-D tunings and it tracks full chords brilliantly. It can easily do octaves up and/or down, plus 3rds, 5ths, 7ths... you name it!The only thing I dislike is that it only has 4 memory presets. Wish it had 10! This unit also works well with other DT products. I use this thing live all the time and it has never let me down one single time.Great unit!
Comments about DigiTech HM2 HarmonyMan Intelligent Pitch Shifter Guitar Effects Pedal:
I own this pedal and I must say it tracks so well. I can get harmony sounds from the Eagles to Iron Maiden. I was a bit skeptical due to a couple poor reviews but have no fear, this pedal does an excellent job. I even know a guy that uses it for vocal harmony and raves about how great a job it does! Just buy it. The prices on these are pretty stable so I don't foresee any reason to wait!
