OVERVIEW

A full-featured compact looper with plenty of functions to make looping super easy.

The DigiTech JamMan Express XT is simple, small, and very sophisticated. With true-bypass, 10 minutes of stereo looping, Silent Clear, and JamSync the Express XT is a perfect looper for your pedal board or addition to your JamMan XT looping set-up. It's incredibly easy to use with dedicated LEDs clearly showing its status. The Express XT works right out of the box using a 9V battery (sold separately) or you can power it with an optional power supply.

When looping, timing is everything; JamSync takes care of it. JamSync automatically synchronizes with another Express XT or JamMan Solo XT allowing you to create independent yet perfectly synchronized loops. Using JamSync you can build a custom multi-track looper or build loops with your band. The Express XT is the first looper to feature DigiTech's new Silent Clear feature. The Express XT automatically recognizes when you press to clear the loop and stops the loop from playing through your amp. Silent Clear saves you from reaching over to turn down your amp or your looper while you clear it.

The Express XT is an incredibly simple looper and easy to use. It works just like every other looper with record, stop, play, unlimited overdubs, and undo. We made it even easier with a dedicated LED per status. The Express XT can run on a 9V battery (included) and works right out of the box. You don't have to spend any more of your hard earned money to get a power supply just to use it when you get home. Not only is the Express XT the best, most full-featured compact looper in the world, it's also the most affordable.

Though I have used looping technology before..this was my first attempt with a stomp box in a live setting.

It took a few minutes to get the hang of operating it properly but with minimal time and effort you can be using this thing right out of the box like a pro

I cannot compare it with others (since I don't own others)--but after internet reviews, videos, research, and now owning it--here a few things that sold me on THIS particular pedal:

    10 minutes of recording time
The ability to sync multiple loopers together
The ease of use--once you understand how many "clicks" it takes to do what you want--you have pretty much figured it out.
It sounds great in my effects chain without causing sound problems

The ONLY drawback is battery life--BUY THE AC AD\Daptor

I've been looping for quite a while and have used rc-50, rc-20, and rc-2 a lot. I keep progressing to smaller loopers. Sick of the drum machine on rc-2 kicking in by mistake so I started looking in to jamman express and ditto. Liked the express except the silent clear means if you stop the loop and then restart it there is a time lag. Not useable in live gig situation if you need to stop and play a bridge and then restart the loop. Also does not work properly if you plug into a PA doesn't like the impedance I guess. I also didn't like the button. I've since bought a ditto and no problems so far plus the ditto is a space saver and so darn cute!

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

Since discovering this little gem, I've been loopin' my life away! After a moderate learning curve, that included getting timing right, I was a looper within an hour of opening the box. Love that it's a true bypass, and the silent canceling comes in handy on stage. It is, however, a battery eating monster, so I'd recommend a DC power supply if you're gonna use it very much.

It does exactly what it's supposed to do. If you're like me and you think it's easy to just throw a loop pedal into your live performance while using your drum machine, think again. You've got to practice with this thing. If you don't hit it at the exact in and out points, your drums go out of rhythm. I know that's obvious, but, it's not as easy as it seems. Great pedal though. best of luck!

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

I got recommended this pedal at one of my local Guitar Centers. I trusted his word, considering the same employee has sold me on a few pedals and prevented me from making a few mistakes over the past couple years.

Anyways I picked it up and added it on the end of my pedal chain. Let me tell you, it's amazing how adding a loop pedal to the mix can drive your creativity through the roof. I've made multiple songs using this and preform for some of my friends and on YouTube and it blows people away.

Regardless, taking into account that I'm reviewing the pedal itself and not what it does to your creativity I'll talk about the pedal...

This pedal itself it very sturdy, and very easy to figure out. It took me 20-30 minutes and I was playing lead over my own rhythm. If I could change one thing I would add a light to signal that you have something dubbed and ready to play if to press the pedal. I can't tell you how many times I've been at home (once or twice at an open mic night also actually) and started my rhythm, then pressed the button to record and my last 3-6 dubs start blasting through my amp. That isn't the pedals fault, that's just my forgetfulness.

Anyway, messing with this the last few months has made me decide that I'm going to buy the JMSXT Jamman Solo XT. I haven't researched it enough to just buy it right now but hopefully it had a light indicating that I have something recorded and ready to play.

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

Using a looper will change your perspective significantly. You need to practice recording, including the loop, the ending it. It took me a couple of hours to get the syncrohization down. I would not perform with it until you get that process down to where it is predictable and nature. You will find yourself lost in trying different loops with all your favorite songs. Don't over evaluate this simple pedal, it just loops what you record. What I find amazing is the ability to overdub as well.

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

This device will provide you instant expansion of your music. Its like adding another guitar player to the group. It will take you a few attempts until you get it down. Start with a simple chord progress or you will get frustrated unless you have used a looper before. You have to realize it begins recording instantly and plays instantly so it takes some practice so you don't cut yourself short or over play. I have used backing tracks on Youtube to practice in the past, now I can create my own and play over them. Practicing until you get it perfect. This is the only pedal I have that is basically fun to use.

This is a great practice tool. You can record up to 10 minutes if you need to, and just practice leads over whatever you just played. Very easy.

One thing I would like to see is a 'stop' button... You have to stomp on it twice to get it to stop and that is a pain... But other than that, your playing will definitely improve if you use one of these to practice. It is like having a buddy to jam with every night.

Great tool, easy to use, does not generate extra noise. Very well built. The ability to erase the previous sample without hearing anything is a lot more professional when you play in front of people. Definately get the 110 volt power supply, as the battery life is pretty short. Double check the supply to use, Digitech has two power packs that will plug in, but one of them is the wrong polarity.

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

I love everything about this looper except for one thing: You have to stomp twice to stop playing the loop and it is hard to get that timed exactly right. Otherwise it is great. I had never used a looper before, and was able to use this one after just a few minutes of messing around. Can't comment on the battery life since I use this with a power supply, but it stands to reason that with this much memory capacity it will use a lot of power, hence the reported short-lived battery.

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

Got tired of solo shows without being able to jam or play leads so I got this little guy. Sounds great, easy to pick up on. I've never used a looper before but mastered it in less than an hour. It does everything I really need it to do!

BUT…the battery they sent me lasted maybe 30 minutes. A brand new brand-name 9V battery lasted about an hour. So unless it's plugged in, it does me no good for live performances. If you buy this, buy the adaptor cable to plug it in!

Simple, easy to use, and sounds great. My previous looper had two large pedals, an auxiliary foot switch, and a giant power supply transformer. This has really uncluttered my rig with no loss of functionality.

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

I cannot understand the high rating of this product. To install a battery you must unscrew the bottom half of the unit. The screws actually mount into the circuit board, the back of which is totally exposed. Not if it will break, it's when. You can expect this kind of build quality in a cheap pedal, but this pedal is not that inexpensive.

The second issue (and why I sent mine back) was the battery power option. I will state up front that I use cheap batteries, but they power all my other devices and pedals fine. Not this pedal. With brand new, straight out of the pack batteries I played about 2 minutes on one battery before the unit failed. I tried two other, brand new batteries and they wouldn't work at all.

Poorly engineered and not reliable for a gigging musician IMO (which I am).

It does exactly what it claims to, and it does it well. There is a learning curve (like most everything else in life). If you can't count very well, you'll probably be frustrated .... but if you _can_ count, it's really fun. I use it for working out solos and just jamming with myself getting ideas. I could see it being great for live performances too ... but that requires developing the ability to hit the switch twice to shut the loop(s) off without messing up what you're playing. This, too, is part of the learning curve. That being said, it's great fun and worth the money.

I traded my Ditto looper for this JamMan, and it seemed to be the deal of a lifetime. I was very excited to have such a cheap stereo looper and plugged it in right away. There was a lot of noise going through it, but I assumed it was because my pedalboard is daisy-chained. I gave the JamMan its own power supply, and that cut down the noise a little, but it was still noticable. The sound quality otherwise is very good, and it's extremely easy to use. The noise might turn you off though.
