DigiTech

A full featured compact looper with plenty of functions to make looping super easy.

The DigiTech® JamMan Express XT is simple, small, and very sophisticated. With true-bypass, 10 minutes of stereo looping, Silent Clear™, and JamSync™ the Express XT is a perfect looper for your pedalboard or addition to your JamMan® XT looping set-up. It’s incredibly easy to use with dedicated LEDs clearly showing its status. The Express XT works right out of the box using a 9V battery (included) or you can power it with an optional power supply.

When looping, timing is everything; JamSync takes care of it. JamSync automatically synchronizes with another Express XT or JamMan Solo XT allowing you to create independent yet perfectly synchronized loops. Using JamSync you can build a custom multi-track looper or build loops with your band. The Express XT is the first looper to feature DigiTech’s new Silent Clear feature. The Express XT automatically recognizes when you press to clear the loop and stops the loop from playing through your amp. Silent Clear saves you from reaching over to turn down your amp or your looper while you clear it.

The Express XT is an incredibly simple looper and easy to use. It works just like every other looper with record, stop, play, unlimited overdubs, and undo. We made it even easier with a dedicated LED per status. The Express XT can run on a 9V battery (included) and works right out of the box. You don’t have to spend any more of your hard earned money to get a power supply just to use it when you get home. Not only is the Express XT the best, most full-featured compact looper in the world, it’s also the most affordable.

It does exactly what it's supposed to do. If you're like me and you think it's easy to just throw a loop pedal into your live performance while using your drum machine, think again. You've got to practice with this thing. If you don't hit it at the exact in and out points, your drums go out of rhythm. I know that's obvious, but, it's not as easy as it seems. Great pedal though. best of luck!

I've been looping for quite a while and have used rc-50, rc-20, and rc-2 a lot. I keep progressing to smaller loopers. Sick of the drum machine on rc-2 kicking in by mistake so I started looking in to jamman express and ditto. Liked the express except the silent clear means if you stop the loop and then restart it there is a time lag. Not useable in live gig situation if you need to stop and play a bridge and then restart the loop. Also does not work properly if you plug into a PA doesn't like the impedance I guess. I also didn't like the button. I've since bought a ditto and no problems so far plus the ditto is a space saver and so darn cute!

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

Great tool, easy to use, does not generate extra noise. Very well built. The ability to erase the previous sample without hearing anything is a lot more professional when you play in front of people. Definately get the 110 volt power supply, as the battery life is pretty short. Double check the supply to use, Digitech has two power packs that will plug in, but one of them is the wrong polarity.

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

I love everything about this looper except for one thing: You have to stomp twice to stop playing the loop and it is hard to get that timed exactly right. Otherwise it is great. I had never used a looper before, and was able to use this one after just a few minutes of messing around. Can't comment on the battery life since I use this with a power supply, but it stands to reason that with this much memory capacity it will use a lot of power, hence the reported short-lived battery.

Cool pedal however it's difficult to turn off before it stops recording 2nd track. Play back is clear until you play along with it.

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

I traded my Ditto looper for this JamMan, and it seemed to be the deal of a lifetime. I was very excited to have such a cheap stereo looper and plugged it in right away. There was a lot of noise going through it, but I assumed it was because my pedalboard is daisy-chained. I gave the JamMan its own power supply, and that cut down the noise a little, but it was still noticable. The sound quality otherwise is very good, and it's extremely easy to use. The noise might turn you off though.

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

I've owned a Jamman Solo for a few years now and haven't spent much time with it for various reasons. When I finally got to spend some time, it was not that easy for me to use. I watched some You Tube videos on how to use it, which got me going faster than trying to read the manual, and I was overdubbing with ease on the factory pre-set loops. For some reason, which I haven't had time to figure out, I cannot create my own loop from scratch. I follow the directions, but I cannot even get started. The drum machine is hard for me to set at the right tempo. I know I need to read and reread the manual a few times to get there, but haven't been able to make the time. Another problem for me is being colorblind. I have trouble seeing the color(s) of the light(s) to know which mode I'm in, etc.

So, today I decided to buy and try the JamMan Express XT. I can return it in 30 days if I don't like it, so I have nothing to lose. Other than getting my timing down, which I figured out fairly quickly, this thing is so easy to use, it amazed me. I created a loop, then added some overdubs and had such a great time with it in such a short time, I think I already know that I'm going to keep it. I wish the JamMan solo was this easy. I want to create some loops for keeps which cannot be done with the JamMan Express.

I cannot wait to surprise my bass player next week when I can create a loop on the fly, add some overdubs, and we can jam along with it. I don't think us using a drum machine will hurt my creation of loops with this thing, it is incredibly easy to use compared to my old JamMan solo. Unfortunately, the JamMan solo is an older model and it does not have the sync inputs, but that won't stop me from using both, once I figure it out.

I recommend the JamMan Express XT to anybody just getting started with using a looper pedal. The learning curve, mostly the timing, should not be too bad and as the Digitech Rep says, you can grow with it. If I find the need, I wouldn't hesitate getting another one.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because you can't save loops like you can with the JamMan Solo.

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

Got tired of solo shows without being able to jam or play leads so I got this little guy. Sounds great, easy to pick up on. I've never used a looper before but mastered it in less than an hour. It does everything I really need it to do!

BUT…the battery they sent me lasted maybe 30 minutes. A brand new brand-name 9V battery lasted about an hour. So unless it's plugged in, it does me no good for live performances. If you buy this, buy the adaptor cable to plug it in!

The unit is compact and does all it claims. The loop sound is clean and the recording and play back is simple with just one stomp on the button.

I found stopping the loop to be tricky since it requires stomping on the button twice. But what do you want for that price?

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Express XT Looper:

Simple unit with less than a handful of options accessible via the single footswitch. The recorded sound seems true to the source, which is good.

The learning curve is short--you really only need to understand the three lights and what they are trying to tell you. Unfortunately, what they are most often trying to tell me is "your battery is dying."

The owner's manual says a battery should last about 2 hours. The 9v battery that shipped with the unit lasted about 30 minutes. If they're gonna die that fast, I figured, I better switch to rechargables. That one lasted about 45 minutes. And because I was actually using the looper for maybe 10 minutes, it is apparent that the unit uses power even when you're bypassing its loop effects.

So I will ding this unit a couple stars for eating 9v batteries so quickly. And, to change the battery, you need a phillips screwdriver and have to take the bottom off the unit. Ridiculous--a quick access door for a unit that needs frequent battery changes is a must.

Second, why not either ship the unit with a power adaptor, or make them less expensive to buy separately? The adaptor for this unit is 18 Washingtons--just put in your cart, because you have to have it.

In spite of my rant, the unit is a lot of fun to use. Once I get a power supply (and put yet another cord on the floor) I'll calm down.
