I got a Jamman Solo for Christmas, played with it for two days and decided to return it. The pedal is incredibly hard to master due to the count in and the stiffness of the pedal mechanism. I also have a Line 6 looper which was incredibly intuitive and creativity was there right out of the box. The worst part is this unit clips very easily the send/return loop of all my amps, It also colors the tone pretty drastically. I really wanted to like this pedal but it just did not work for me.

Excellent lopper for jazz applications too!

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Solo Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got mine several months ago and have been very happy with it. I use it mostly for live jazz duo gigs (guitar + sax). You will need the optional foot switch specially to stop the loop, it's a nightmare to stop it without it, believe me! I made my own foot switch with parts from radio shack. You can find instructions online as well as some videos on youtube on how to do it (it's fairly easy). I have posted a solo-jazz video on youtube using the jamman with the "home-made" foot switch under "sevensharpeleven" I think it's a great buy overall. For live applications you won't really notice any change in your tone. Excellent value! I highly recommend it!

Ask me a question

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Solo Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

I did a lot of research before buying this looper. Looked at Boss, Boomerang & vintage pieces but bought this one - THE RESEARCH PAID OFF! The JamMan Solo has great fidelity, SDHC Memory, USB Out, BareBones Software (Download from DigiTech) it DOES NOT COLOR or CHANGE the sound of your instrument, ZERO hiss. I added the optional footswitch for stop/up & down memory locations. I use it for composing, rehearsing and performing. Posted a few YouTube vids with it (Citadelsongs) - To play complex pieces, I will need a second unit because saving a loop (Verse/Chorus) isn't 'live' realistic and doing a new loop for a Bridge in a new memory location will erase the Verse/Chorus loop. Hope I explained this clearly because this isn't a downside since none of the other loopers come close to this one. Wish it ran on batteries too for remote gigs but I would replace this in a heartbeat if it was stolen or broke - it is built like a tank. Perfect pedal!

Best value for money in this price range

By lightninrick

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Solo Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

The piece is a much better value than competitors in the same price range. It's easy to record loops on this device, and the recorded audio sounds brilliant. I am using it as a tool for generating song ideas for this reason. The USB connection is unique in this price range, and Digitech's software makes it relatively easy to transfer audio into and out of the device. (I say relatively" because it's not the most brilliantly intuitive piece of software you've ever seen--it's just functional enough to do the job.) One of the best things about the device is that you can add an inexpensive SD card for additional loop storage, which dramatically expands the amount of time available for loops, pre-recorded and on the fly. I'm talking the difference between minutes and hours. (The Boss RC-2, which costs almost the same, will only do 18 minutes of looping total--this thing will do hours on a 1 GB SD card.) On the downside, the footpedal spring is very stiff, and you need to push hard to get the device to recognize a footpedal press. I have yet to figure out how to erase the latest layer in a loop without erasing the whole thing. Back to the manual...Summary: in this price range, this is the best value for money by far.

Nice package but NOISY!

By FloydNut

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Solo Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is my first looper experience. It did not take me very long to be up and running. The JamMan software is great in that you can normalize the volume of all loops. There are way more loop locations than what I need too. There are a few negatives though. The biggest is noise! The JamMan introduced enough noise into my board that I had to take it out of the signal chain and use it in my effects loop. The noise is only present when a gain effect is on. One other peeve is the double stomp to stop the loop. The switch is "clumsy" and sometimes I end up only connecting with one stomp.Overall, not bad and I may be able to live with the noise as I do need some loops for a Pink Floyd band!

Barely Cutting the mustard

By Robert McClure

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Solo Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

If you like Digi products like the RP series peddles this would be great for you cause you. If you are like me and want that awesome tone you get from Boss and fulltone peddles then do yourself a favor and just get the boss Loop Station. If you're budget concious and a penny pusher go for it. If you can hold out a lil longer for the Boss peddle do it.
When it comes to features the fact it has the SD card slot and can store HOURS is awesome. The added footswitch makes switching easy as pie too.
Structure wise being metal construstion its a durrable lil peddle but the sound quality comes out like all other digitec products (fake and processed).
its a good lil unit for younger players or players that don't mind sacraficing tone for money. I use it for practice but would never use it for a show.

Great Pedal, But Not For Live Loops

By blackcat138

from New York, NY

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Solo Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is excellent except for overdubbing on live loops. It doesn't react like other loop pedals (Boomerang, Line 6 Delay) by creating overdub layers; ie, if you make a quick loop and start overdubbing silence, the original loop on most pedals would start to fade out. THIS PEDAL DOES NOT DO THIS. It just repeats your last take over and over. I found the JamMan unusable for this purpose and use my Boomerang instead. However, this pedal has become absolutely essential in my pedalboard for it's ability to playback high quality samples and pre-recorded loops. I have found a million uses for it and can't imagine not having it anymore. However, you will need the optional footswitch if you want to stop and start loops within a song-- it's very difficult to be playing a complex guitar part and have to hit the pedal twice rapidly to stop a loop. Just get the footswitch!

Excelent, but missing something...

By saustindavis

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Solo Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

I really like this pedal. I owned an RC-20 for a while and liked it, but it was HUGE. One thing I really liked was the reverse feature on the RC-20, and the Jamman Solo is lacking both that and the fade-out feature. Oh well, I can live without the reverse, and I run my volume pedal after the looper to fade it out at the end. I love the digital display and how easy it is to start looping right out of the box. I haven't noticed any signal degradation, but I don't have a super keen ear when it comes to that. One other thing, the drum loops are a little cheesy, but I never use them anyway. This is by far the best value for a compact looper pedal on the market. Highly recommended!

Best compact looper available

By Mr. Me

from america

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Solo Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

Firstly, even though the jammanager software/drivers are not available you can still use an SD card to move loops to a computer (I've seen negative reviews on the internet based on this point). It's a hassle but doable until the drivers come through. Also, I don't notice any sound degradation as with the previous review.Featurewise, for the most part I vastly prefer this to the rc-2. The rc-2 is a bit cumbersome when trying to store loops, you have turn the dial all over the place and hit an arcane sequence of buttons. The jamman solo is much more intuitive, and you have 99 save slots. Also you can download to a computer and use an SD card as mentioned previously. As far as quality, it seems pretty sturdy except the knobs/pots. Also, the drum tracks are really more metronomes than real tracks as on the rc-2. Overall this is the best small looper you can get.

Great compact unit every guitarist, bassist should own for rehearsal, jamming, and writing! If you're like me, I never can remember exactly what I did the night/day before but now I have a way to save my licks. Great feature in the SD card! Wish it came with more sophisticated drum beats, otherwise great buy.

    Unlimited Potential!

    By tedorado

    from Colorado Springs, CO

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Solo Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

I am a huge fan of Boss, but I decided to get this DigiTech product [JamMan Solo] because it's new and because of the storage capacity and crazy (99!) number of loops you can store. I have about 20 compact pedals floating around and this is my first DigiTech - I'm impressed! The pedal is very solidly built and well designed - the controls are easy to understand and you have the ability to expand by using an optional footswitch (I don't have the footswitch - yet). The pedal takes a little getting used to (as with any looper), but as long as you read the manual (!) it's not difficult. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the pre-loaded loops on 1-8 and the "crowd cheering" sounds on loops 9 and 10, right out of the box. I also was happy to discover the metronome and rhythm guide track features and I am looking forward to exploring other features on this awesome gadget. Unfortunately, the "JamManager" software you can use to manage loops is not available yet, which I think is weird, but when DigiTech gets that out there we'll see what else the JamMan Solo can do.Other pros: power supply included, takes an SDHC card to expand the memory, not just a looper - you can record and play single phrases!Totally cool - get it!!

    What Solo will not do

    By Terry

    from Melbourne

Comments about DigiTech JamMan Solo Looper Guitar Effects Pedal:

Snake-oil instructions. Useless "tap in tampo" by three methods.
(No human can tap in a tempo of exactly 130 BPM, yet Solo has three ways to tap in the wrong tempo.
Why didn't Digitech use the FS3X to access the "setup" register on the fly. I'm, more likely to want to
change a loop to "fade" or "single time" than tap in a wrong tempo. Being old school I'm designing a
thumbwheel and {555} timer to electronically set tempo via FS3X.)
Over dubs cannot be saved while loop is running. Press Save while loop running and get "buS"
(Proof that the designers do not use their own product).
I run a Jamman XT so I'm looking at modding the Jamsync to auto copy to the XT and while the XT is
doing the fill, save the overdubs on the Solo. Solo? Doesn't sound like solo?
A backing track that comes and goes on factory reset???
No backing track flow chart to make sense of it.
No mention of free firmware upgrades - perhaps some private code writers could find a market.
I'd gladly pay to get an otherwise good looper working as the stage demands.

    Cheers Terry
