The RP-55 has the potential to enhance the tonal quality of any knowledgable guitarist. This is especially true when this pedal is used IN STEREO! The output jack delivers true stereo separation when connected to two channels on a mixer (panned left and right) or two amps. You've got to know what settings favor your particular amp and guitar(s) too. Also, make sure each individual preset level and the master volume level are properly balanced. You don't want any excessive output differences between presets. Compare your amp's dry signal level (pedal bypassed) with the level of the pedal when it is turned on. Your presets should NOT be too much louder than your amp. Pickups a little noisy? Set the noise gate to G3 and don't go too heavy on the compression. Lastly, you don't have to use one of the amp models for every preset. Try using the pedal's effects with the amp modeling off. That way you can hear the effects with the natural sound of your amp. Once you've got about ten good presets dialed in, this pedal can be trusted at every gig.

I owned it - had to send it back. Needed a pedal tuner - bought this for that purpose plus added FX. Loved the internal sounds - but - unit is noisy - even in bypass mode. Low amp volumes, not a problem. However, when playing with band at stage volume (Marshall on about 50% volume) very audible background noise/hiss between songs. Had to send it back and find upgrade to quieter product. Praise to Musician's Friend for their return policy.

Decent Little Pedal for the $$$

Comments about DigiTech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

It's great for practice and it is very easy to use. 40 user presets is great too. Could possibly be used live but you would have to dial in a preset for each song. Overall, it's great for practice and recording. Buy something nicer for live though.
11 Amps and 20 effects? Not too shabby at all on this little box. Built in tuner is worth the money, then throw in the effects? Great features.
I've had mine for a year and a half and it's still going strong (Thru a few drops too, I might add)
Great for the price. I cant really complain here.

Comments about DigiTech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

Great affordable unit! Yes you can tune your guitar on this pedal thats what I use it for mainly and recording. There isnt all that noise I see mentioned from other reviews prior to me buying!!! So if you know how to dial in your effects volume levels and sound (most don;t from my xp) you can have a crunchy clean sound to a light to clean crisp sound. All effects single to multi fx I have used have pros and cons but really the cons are just picky preferences. Great pedal and a steal of a buy. Learn to dial in effects and sound before you claim any view!! ROCK ON!!

Comments about DigiTech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

I have had this model for 3 years and used daily. Take care of it and it will last. If you have an amp that has no rock and roll soul, this processor will give it what you need. You'll just have to find the sound you're looking for in this Pandoras' box. I ran it through an older Create double stack that was in good condition and WHAT a differance. Beware,..... it does boost your power and gives you more head room. If your equipment can't handle it, dial down about 2/3's or half volume. I've since bought other Digitech products. The price is right, most music stores can't match MF....

        An Nice Set of Effects

Comments about DigiTech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

I use this pedal constantly, as it serves its purpose well. I mostly just wanted a cheap pedal with an adequate Wah effect when I bought this, but instead got a nice pack of modifiable effects. There are actually two Wah settings built in (Wah and Enveloped Filter) that can be combined to create a nice, thick Wah sound, and even combined with some further effects. There are nine levels on intensity for most of the effects, while the rest have nine different variations of the effect (i.e. the pitch shifter has 9 different pitches, rather than 9 levels of intensity). It has a weak distortion effect, but this can be combined with your amp's distortion for an interestingly crunchy sound. A good buy.

        Well worth the money

        By Jeff George

Comments about DigiTech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

The chorus and flanger is good. The spring reverb is awesome. The amp models are pretty good also. If you like lots of distortion, this will suite your needs. If you play totally clean, this will also suite your needs. It's pretty versatile.
Plenty of effects. I personally do not know a player that would use all 8 at once. The single coil option sounds true and real. There are lots of tones this thing can generate.
The buttons on my RP50 fell off after 10 years. This one looks like it's built the same. Other then that, these are USA made.
        At this price...it's a bargain.

I bought this for my son and it's great. Excellent FX, nice variety. Very easy to custom program your own sounds. We set up about a dozen custom settings, which was real easy, and they sound great. An excellent multi FX pedal, great price. Highly recommend to anyone.

Comments about DigiTech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

It was hard to find a pedal I liked at all, and I tried seriously 40 pedals (not super cheap ones either), so i decided to try this after listening to some sound demos. It's awesome! This is one versatile pedal, it works for almost any style of music from blues all the way to metal. Only style it doesn't do particularly well at is punk rock, but it works ok for that. You can get almost any sound you want out of it and it'll match the guitar sound in a song you want to play, it may take a while to find the perfect sound though. All the effects work great and you can adjust the sound to your liking. It's built pretty good for a $50 multi-effect. Only problem is the battery compartment is hard to get the batteries in-it has no springs. It also uses the batteries very fast.

Comments about DigiTech RP55 Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal:

Great pedal, for a small bit of cash you can turn that cheap beginner amp into something nice, I haven't tried this on a tube amp yet, so I can't say, but It makes my used Fender FM212R sound like a decent usable machine. Country to Metal, this pedal makes it happen.
Effects, amp modeling, ability to use multiple effects, headphone out, Expression pedal input, and a lot of fun.
Been playing on it for about a year and a half, no issues, except when batteries go dead, does weird things. Batteries last forever but when you have to replace them, it takes 6 AA's, buy a wall adapter for it.
Nice price, if you want an expression pedal model though, you'll get more effect and a pedal for te money.

Been playing since the 60s / British invasion days. Finally bought one of these about 7 or 8 years ago. Took me this long to wear it out, so I ordered another. Great little unit to sweeten your amp up. I had several tones dialed in to my old one. Hope to emulate that again on this one. Can't beat the price!
