I was at my jammin seesion with some buddies of mine who played hard rock heavy metal stuff like KsE, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, Hatebreed, etc. when I was using just a 65w Fender amp w/ a 2x effect switch. I hated not using multiple effects, so Mike gave me a DigiTech RP70 effect pedal like this one to plug into my amp setup. i tell you the Distortion was off the map!!! The vibrato, tremelo, reverb, delay, equalizer, and the rest of the effects were very clean and lethal for my style of guitar playing! For those who are looking for a good multi-effects pedal without breaking your wallet, I suggest you buy the RP70 from DigiTech, especially those who play anything from hard rock to heavy metal, or anyone who plays in a band or jams solo. Oh and one more thing... Rock Hard!

Fun, but doesn't quite do it

Comments about DigiTech RP70 Guitar Multi Effect Pedal:

Just the distortion and the flimsyness of the screen are the only cons. Otherwise, good job Digitech.
It's pretty cool for messing around with. Good delay, rever, effects, and just fun to toy around with. However, the distortions are weak, artificial, digital, and just not very good in general. I'm disappointed in this, since I need distortion now more than ever.

I do love being able to have 100 presets though. That's pretty nice.
So far, it's held up nicely. Had it for almost 3 1/2 years. It's a thick plastic, although the screen is kinda cheap. I've stepped on it a few times, and even though it's flimsy, it's held up.
This thing is a good buy overall. If you want everything BUT distortion, get this. All of the other effects would cost ten to a hundred times more, but you can get it for this low price.

Comments about DigiTech RP70 Guitar Multi Effect Pedal:

I bought this for my nephew, but while running it through its paces fell in love with it and kept it for myself.

This thing will open up your guitar's tonal world, and I swear it will work on any cheap 10 watt amp so long as there's not a pencil sticking through the speaker or the jack is hanging by a thread.

At this crazy low price in late December of '13 I'm thinking these are being discontinued. So at this insane price I say buy 5 or 6 and pigtail them for your own effects chain.

Yes it's lightweight and I suppose it would need to be velcro attached to a stage. And yes it's a "tap box" for sure and you have to tap both buttons simultaneously to go from passive to what you've selected for your effect.

I simply love this thing. Guys that thought they were ALL THAT with their Line 6 Spider amp's modeling ability are blown out of the water by this dinky RP70.

I have been using a Rp90 to play for church service for over 5 years with no problem. The plastic housing is not an issue. I guess if your someone that purposely stomps like an elephant it might be. I try to treat myself well so it lasts. I liked the rp90 so much that I bought two rp70s when I saw them on sale locally. They use the same settings as the 90 and they are smaller for carrying to the beach and mountains. After working out a bunch of sounds I like having several to carry different places is great.I have analog pedals and created sounds side by side comparing them. Not enough difference to warrant carrying pedal board. Some pedal board settings not as good as RP's if you spend some time making them side by side.

Comments about DigiTech RP70 Guitar Multi Effect Pedal:

I really hate this thing...All the distortion sounds completely digital. I spent hours going through all of the effects and distortion and NONE of them sound good. The only good use I can think of for this is the tuner and metronome. If you can get it for very cheap then it might be worth it just for those 2 features. Just save your money and either buy a GOOD multi-effect pedal or just some individual pedals. I ended up buying a Boss ML-2 metalcore distortion pedal for about the same price and it sounds great.

Comments about DigiTech RP70 Guitar Multi Effect Pedal:

I am an analog musician. I use analog pedals and I use a half-stack. But, sometimes I take a gig that has no room for my gear because of the size of the room. So, I need something compact but has enough stuff so I can bring my sounds up. The RP70 will fit that bill. I am not a big fan of digital simulation. But, the RP70 does have some great patches. After reading some reviews, I decided to try one. I read the manual and then went to the studio to see if I could program it to do what I want. In 45 minutes, I had 3 patches of useful stuff. I will be doing some tweaking here and there, but I had no problems. The tuner works great and the drum machine is rather fun to jam with. When I have that gig where I cannot take my half-stack and my pedalboard, then the RP 70 will fit into my gig bag. Two cables and I'm ready. My only pet peeve is the plastic housing and the plastic jacks. I hope those hold up. Other than that, it seems to be operating in my tolerance levels. I am enjoying it!

Comments about DigiTech RP70 Guitar Multi Effect Pedal:

              .
I bought one of these last week because after using the RP-50 for the last 10 years, I felt it was time to make a upgrade in the effects department of my setup. I was originally considering the RP-500 but too pricey, so I took this home instead. My amp is a used USA made, 1997 Crate GX-65 combo which is a true workhorse and has never let me down, so I wanted to make sure that this unit was comparable with my amp. Looking through the amp models, I was astonished at all the choices that there were to choose from. Amps such as a 68 Marshall, to a Mesa Rectifier, along with stompboxes like a Ibanez TS-9 Tubescreamer, Boss DS-1, etc. The effects are also top notch as well IMO. I decided to go with the 65 Fender Blackface for my clean settings and the 83 Marshall JCM for my Gain . It did take me a while to adjust it to my liking but once I did, there was no comparison between this and my old RP-50. None at all. I also have to mention that the Acoustic guitar setting on this, is the best I've ever heard . What I love about these processors are the fact that, if you program them right, they will add extra volume to your amp . One of my friends has one of these that he uses with a Crate XT-65 and he doesn't believe me when I tell him that. Oh well, one day he'll learn how to use his properly. In the meantime, I'm just having a blast fooling around with mine and coming up with new settings every day.

Comments about DigiTech RP70 Guitar Multi Effect Pedal:

So far I have liked what I have seen of this pedal, and hope it lasts a long time for the price
I just bought this pedal from my local shop today and have been playing on it along with my wah pedal into a Peavey Rage 258 and a Fender Mustang 1. It sounds very nice on all of the settings I have played with in the past few hours! A few of the effects are a bit lacking(like the distortion, but only to an extent) I haven't quite grasped the settings and effects yet, but the user's manual is very helpful! I was actually about to but a Hard Wire Tube OD, but decided to get this instead, because it has the Ibanez Tube Screamer built in along with Boss D-1 distortion and more! When plugged into my Epi Les paul standard the Acoustic tone is amazing, will be a commonly used tone for me I'm sure.
I'm not quite sure due to just buying it. It is plastic and all digital fx, but it seems pretty sturdy as a few people have said.
I got this pedal for about 5 cents more that the price listed on MF, but with only tax and without shipping. it has so many tones and functions that $80 is worth the price, I play a lot of rock music like: Rush, Green Day, Metallica, the hardest rock I am playing right now is Breaking Benjamin.

Comments about DigiTech RP70 Guitar Multi Effect Pedal:

I am an active musician and guitar player and am quite experienced with guitar tones. You can make an exact duplication of Zakk Wylde's tone. This thing has a jcm 800 marshal in it and a boss sd1 just like Wylde uses. You can also produce exact duplications of Steve Vai, Satriani, Petruci, Angus Young, Eddie Van halen, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Claption, Jimmy Page, and Slash's tone. Get this box as soon as you read this in which I just wrote. Please, I beg of you, Please, Please.
