I bought this one used from a local shop a couple of years back. At first I just wanted something to add a little bit of grit to my sound. However, this thing blew me away when I plugged it in. I tried it next to a Boss bass distortion and an Ashdown bass distortion, but the Digitech destroyed them both. First off, the controls were very easy to figure out and made it very easy to dial in any distortion you need. From the subtle to the disgusting. The "blend" knob makes it great for allowing some clean signal to poke through, while the "X-Series" knob brought a new meaning to the term "game changer". I used it to get some edge on a track in one of my bands, then turned it up to get a thick, hard-hitting, and ear-shredding tone in my other band. I've used it for a few live recordings and it holds up just as well. The best part of this pedal is that it has an amazing frequency response and seems to cover all parts of the spectrum. I once used it as a way to fill out the mix, when our guitarist didn't show up for a gig, and the sound tech even thought that it sounded awesome. Even with guitars, this thing helps cut through the mix in nearly any situation. I would also like to mention that when I use it with mu guitars, it sounds insane, as well. If you're looking for a golden nugget of a overdrive/distortion/fuzz, look no further than this little monster, right here.

It sucks the bottem end right out of your bass. I get buzzing whenever I engage the pedal. The battery life is non existent but I use an adapter anyway, so not a big deal. The distortion is ehhh, not raw enough for me and it makes you sound sloppy. I've owned it for five years now and barely use it, I never gigged with it, just messed around once in awhile in my practice space (I took good care of it). Which brings me to my next point, the engage swith (where pedal touches board) is broken. So now it's officially worthless. Don't waste your money.

Comments about DigiTech XBD Bass Driver Overdrive Pedal:

This is a terrible overdrive/distortion pedal. You have to get it just right to not have feedback, but when you do, you can't even hear the distortion. Not worth the money at all.

Total Sweetness

Comments about DigiTech XBD Bass Driver Overdrive Pedal:

At first I thought distortion with bass would sound like crap, but then I played this pedal and it totally changed my mind. It goes anywhere from a soft fuzz, to a grungy/metal/crunch distortion, it especially sounds awesome if you happen to be using a ThunderBird. Since I bought it I haven't gone a day without using it. Total Sweetness.

Comments about DigiTech XBD Bass Driver Overdrive Pedal:

I hate this pedal. A lot of my friends that use this pedal love it. It produces horrible tones, and it sounds like my bass is about to die, or explode. Dont buy this pedal, go buy the Ibanez for half the price.

Comments about DigiTech XBD Bass Driver Overdrive Pedal:

This pedal is a great pedal it adds a real rough harsh sound to your music, makes the bass stand out a lot. only flaw is it chews through batteries, overall a great pedal, i play industrial and it works great for getting that processed sound, highly recommended.

Comments about DigiTech XBD Bass Driver Overdrive Pedal:

Go buy a boss pedal. I've owned this for a few months and i hate it, unfortunately its all I got. It destroys your low end and mutilates your thick tones into a fuzzy, substanceless, buzz.

Comments about DigiTech XBD Bass Driver Overdrive Pedal:

I bought this primarily to get a mild overdrive sound but found that I can get a good variety of overdrive/distortion/fuzz with this pedal. I use it with a MM Stingray and a Fender Jazz and both sound great with this pedal. It seems to be built pretty solid and the controls are very intuitive. No problems so far.

Comments about DigiTech XBD Bass Driver Overdrive Pedal:

This pedal adds a great tone to your bass. I have mine adjusted to give it a warm tube sound to round out the sound from note to note. I use it all the time, instead of clean. For practice, I run it out of the mixer output into a small mixer and through headphones. It sounds great!

Comments about DigiTech XBD Bass Driver Overdrive Pedal:

I have used this live and at home and it sounds great. The only complaint I have would be that it eats batteries like there is no tomorrow. I replace the battery after about every two uses on stage. But other than that, it's great.
