I rate the Digitech Tone Driver X series a 9 because the Morph knob give you the texture, color, warmth or bite you want. I did have to spray the small internal on/off switch with contact spray w/ silicone. It was sticking. It's a winner, a keeper. I'd like to have another for a back up.
The volume/tone/gain are usual but the FEATURE that makes the Digitech Tone Driver great is the Morph knob. It will give you thin, thick, bright, dark, and everything in between. So it's not a one voice overdrive. What more could you want?
The digitech tone driver is built bullet proof. It is heavy so it won't slide around. Tough quality.
These overdrives are worth the price because it will put your tone/sound exactly where you want.

This pedal fails in almost areas an overdrive pedal should exceed. Long story short, This pedal produces an extremely digitalized sound that way overemphasizes the treble side of the musical spectrum. It also does little in the way of pushing your amp, instead choosing to add a bit more gain. I guess it could be used as a distortion pedal for those aiming at a 90's sort of sound.

Look guys, there is NO pedal out there that will make you sound like Eddie VH.

Once you get the "fix-all" pedal mentality out of your head, consider this pedal as an excellent option for you Tone Effect needs.

It has a wide spectrum of options, and it really delivers.

        good for the money,

Comments about DigiTech XTD Tone Driver Overdrive Pedal:

i had one of these given to me, i just would like to say that if you have a marshall TUBE amp i wouldnt get this pedal,i think its made to voice the marshall OD and theres really no point in getting a pedal that voices and amp you have :/ maybe. i dont know.its good for a bit of drive if you want to add some, but most marshalls have enough gain/tube breakup that you wouldnt need it much.i guess it all depends on the amp your running it too.its built well though, and if your amp doesnt have an OD channel you mind as well grab one since they do what there made to do well.

        Great value,versatile

Comments about DigiTech XTD Tone Driver Overdrive Pedal:

Bought this pedal to replace my Ibanez TS9 I had for many years. This pedal is a good overdrive(not a distortion pedal)with tone control. It sounds great through my 97 Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I like the morph control also.Easy to use. Not designed for long 4 hour sets, I recommend getting the power adapter. Battery is a little tricky to get open and the 9V clip was very tight. Overall the pedal is easy to use, versatile and Digitech quality. I've used on two outdoor gigs under extreme heat. It is like a TS9 and several other overdrives to boot. Good price, good product.

        Great Overdrive

        By Cap10quarterz

Comments about DigiTech XTD Tone Driver Overdrive Pedal:

I got this pedal years ago for christmas. Mine stopped working after so long, but I'm getting it sent in for repairs hopefully soon. When it was working, it was pretty good. Obviously, you're not gonna get a whole lot of distorion, which is the point of overdrive. The morph capability is awesome, but there is really only three settings. EQ-wise, you only have a "tone" knob, which i don't particularly like, but it didn't matter much since the setting on it was a good sound anyway. For the price it's an excellent and i would reccommend it for anyone looking to save money.

        Literally a tone driver!

        By imorie.

        from Athens, GA

Comments about DigiTech XTD Tone Driver Overdrive Pedal:

I got the Tone Driver about a year ago. At first I wasn't really used to hearing overdrive, so I thought that the cruch was gain (DUMB I KNOW!). But after a while as I got more advanced in my playing and knowledge, I realized that the name says it all. At first I was running it into a clean amp, with no overdrive whatsoever, then I ran it through a Vox VT30 with a dirty overdriven tone and it sounded completely different. So therefore, I recommend this pedal to boost your signal to get a higher gain sound, but the pedal sounds great without a dirty amp for some classic rock or blues.

        Great Value!!

        By Digitekky

        from Wilmington, Delaware

Comments about DigiTech XTD Tone Driver Overdrive Pedal:

You can literally get 5 different overdrives from the morph knob. 9 oclock gives you grunge. From 7 to 3 gives you multiple Rock or metal (dirty) tones. From 3 to 5 gives you transparent OD. The great part is you only get the natural overdriven tone of the amp. 4 seems to be the amps tone and 5 adds some sizzling treble. It will literally sound like a different pedal with a turn of the morph knob. I gave it a the only 5 I've ever given because of the value. Has headroom as well. It can get too hot.

the TS808 setting is my favorite

Comments about DigiTech XTD Tone Driver Overdrive Pedal:

Glenn Tipton of The Metal GODS Judas Priest has this exact pedal on his board for boosting an already overdriven amp sound for solos, etc. - that's the key, you use it to give your already hard-driving amp a nice KICK. If it's good enough for him, it's good enough for you!
