This amp is a cheap upgrade from your basic starter pack or practice amp. 30 watts is a lot of power after using a small practice amp. With 2-channels, you are able to control your sound in any way. I love the clean channel, and I like the other channel with just enough gain to distort on hard picking- I cut the highs and boost the mids and lows and this thing puts out some good jazz or blues rythyms. This never gets distorted on the clean channel, and has great overdrive on the other channel. The only thing I didn't like about this amp is that the volume knobs for both channels were very very sensitive on the low end. It goes from nothing to blaring loud very quickly so it's a big pain when you want to adjust your volume levels. This amp is great for the price- this thing puts out some pretty good tunes.

One of our guitarists in our band has this amp. He got it just for practicing. Let me tell you, practices aren't that great with this thing. No one in our band could hardly hear it. 30 watts? It seems like 10. My Peavey TransTube Series 15 watt gets over this thing with the post gain on 6.The Distortion: Ehh, it's not that great. It is nothing like Peavey, or up. The Equalization: It seemed pretty good at first, but then we found out that it barely has any low end. Palm mutes sound dead. The Quality: One of the bottom pegs fell off already being about 3 months since he got it. The feedback is constant! This level cannot be up to 6 without it squealing. Then that just makes it being useless since it already sounds like a 10 watt.Bottomline: If your just starting out, I don't think you should consider this amp being in your bedroom. You wouldn't like it. Get a practice Marshall or look into Peaveys or Fenders.

Not All That Bad...

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I have the lesser 20 watt version....because it was cheap, and yes, it stinks a little, but I play it through my Boss ME-50 pedal, and it sounds great. And there is no way you need more than 30 watts for practicing anyways. If you're short on money, buy it now and then upgrade, but I would still recommend aiming higher.

For the Money--Wow

I'm guessing from the comments that the quality control must vary greatly. No problems at all with mine. I bought it because of the ridiculously low price and it compared very favorably with the much pricier Peavey I had been playing, so I sold the Peavey and pocketed the difference. The clean channel has a very pleasant tone. The distortion/gain is not great, but when I want distortion and other effects, I play through a Digitech pedal on the clean channel and it sound great. Actually, the simplicity of the amp is what I liked the best. When using a pedal, I prefer to leave the amp on a clean and neutral setting and make all tone adjustments with the pedal and the guitar. By the way, the amp is very loud (this also must vary based on the comments) and is great looking also.

It's does not have that good of tone, but it's good for using in your garage. Plus it's cheap.

Horrible tone

By Dutch-8a8X0

This amp has basically no tone, the clean tone sucks, and the distortion just doesnt cut it at all. Features are very limited, and eq doesn't help at all. I wouldn't recommend this amp to anyone not even a beginner. Go with a cube, or a practice peavy, fender or marshall. TRUST ME!!!

Nice little practice or garage amp

By justsumguy

from New Jersey

Loud enough to get over unamplified drums, but can be quiet for bedroom practice without making enemies. Spring reverb is a nice touch and doesn't need a lot of tweaking. Clean channel lacks gain for lead but is OK for rhythm. Don't need to fuss with it, just play it.

Drive CD300

By Scotty Danger

from Warwick, NY

I bought this just to ahve a small amp that I can play after 9:00 and not wake people up with...It's almost too loud! The sound isn't amazing, but I didn't expect it to be. My only real problem with it is the fact that it was missing a power cable. That's not cool. Otherwise, this is my second drive amp(first was a bass starter) and it's an average amp. It works and doesn't suck. It's not worth that much money though.

Wow what a peice of crap. I thought I was getting a deal but I was wrong. The distortion is horrible, the EQ is not clear to read, and it sounds awful when it isnt even turned up to 5. Save a few more bucks and get a Crate.

Very Good

Ok this amp is definitely worth the money. I would recommend it to any new player, or even a veteran. I started out thinking this amp would be good, but once I read some of the reviews on how bad it is, I felt a little hesitant. Now owning it, I realize those were just lies! If you want a quality amp for practice or even small gigs, this amp is definitely the one. You get the same quality as some more expensive amps. So trust me, this is a worthwhile investment.
