I was truely amazed by the quality of this amp. I didn't expect it to be so good. When I first received it, I thought it would have some noise whenever I turned it on, like a Rogue amp I had a few years ago. When I plugged it in and turned it on, though, it was completely quiet. The clean channel is great for playing stuff clean or through an effect pedal. When I plugged my Ibanez SM7 Smash Box up to it and played some stuff in drop D, the bass response was great, but it tends to distort a little bit if you crank it up. That's most likely the fault of the speaker, and I'll probably put a higher quality speaker in it in the future. The reverb also adds a lot to the sound of this amp. The reverb was the main reason I bought it. I just can't imagine playing anything without reverb, but I didn't want to spend too much. The only thing I don't like about this amp is the overdrive channel. It's quite nasty. I know no other way to describe the sound, other than it sounds like a puking guitar.Overall I believe this amp would be good for anyone that plays it for practice or for small gigs. I still haven't turned this thing up all the way, it's so loud.

I bought this amp for my son as a practice amp. I got it out when it arrived, played on it for about two hours, put it back in the box and returned it. The amp is noisy, the tone is sub-standard, the quality is poor, and there just isn't much good about the Drive amps. The clean sounds like it's coming out of a 4" paper radio cone. Squeaking and squawking highs, buzzy thin lows. Running my tube overdrive through it was even worse. No frequency separation at all, you may as well be strumming open strings. Crowded, muddy tone with no clarity to be found at any setting. I used a '75 Telecaster Thinline and a Reverend Flatroc to do my evaluation.I ended up buying a Fender Frontman II for about the same price and there is no comparison. I'm not a brand snob. I have also used a Ibanez TBX30 that cost less than this amp and it was fantastic. I won't buy or recomend Drive products again.

O.K.

By Rockon419

This amp is at best an ok amp. You would be better off getting the drive 30w amp without the reverb because I always pick up a radio station when the reverb is turned on. It could be a good begginers amp.

Good beginner amp.

By vonfeldt7

I got this amp a few months ago, its a pretty good amp other than the fact that sometimes the speaker vibrates against the grill thing or w/e but thats not too much of a problem. Its a good deal, specially since its at a very good price.

Practical at it's best I reckon ...

By YoMomma!

I use it twice a week and have done so for the last few years for band practice and it holds it's own. I can definitely say I've gotten my moneys worth. The sound is not the best quality as you would imagine, but I throw her on clean and everything else at 12 o'clock (even the volume) and plug my pedalboard into it and let them dictate the final result which is nice I think. I've never had to go much above the 50% volume mark, but it starts to humm and hiss and feedback past that mark, but I've never really farted around with the knobs and the reverb is acceptable. I'd do it again if I had to do it all over. For the money I can't imagine you'll get much more. It's a practice amp and in general that's all she'll ever be. Good stuff though.

A Problem

By Co&CaAddict

I've had this amp for a few months now and it has just recently began to create a horrid sounding buzz when I turn it on. Clean or distortion. I have switched guitars, cables, etc. the only thing that could cause the noise is the amp. God knows what is wrong with it. So mine only lasted me a few months.

Great Starter Amp

By Shemdog

from Yuma, AZ

This amp is a great piece of gear for the beginner to intermediate guitarist. Respectable distortion is availible utilizing the "drive" function. Clean channel is crisp. You have complete control over the sound utilizing the treb, mid, bass, and presence controls. I've had mine for a seven months and had no problems with it. Not the amp to buy if you intend on playing with a band unless your going to mic it through a PA system. Feedback sensitive above 50% volume. Of course that could be because I'm playing in a 12'x12' bedroom. Feel free to email me with questions.

It Can Hold Its Own

By Joe-CxMBL

from Fort Worth, TX

This Amp Can Hold its Own, I've been playing for a little over 5 Months and my first electric came with a fender Mini (which if you've ever played on you know its junk) I play with my brother every day and this amp can easily match his Drum set and he plays hard, the overdrive is awesome, it lets you go from a solid crunch down to an almost clean tone, altogether a solid buy that will let you play till you can get a stack.

Great Amp

This was my first guitar amplifier and it was all I could ask for. It has a wide range of effects. I'm glad I bought this amp, and I still use it.

It works ok for home use

By K4chevy

from Adrian, MI

It needs to have two things to make it a great amp for anything that you want to do. It needs to have a CD input, and to have a speaker-out to hook up an external cab to it. Overall though, it works ok for home use.
