POWERFUL

By Graham C.

from Indianapolis, IN

Pros

  • Loads of Bass
  • Lots of clean headroom
  • Very light weight

Cons

  • Onboard reverb and OD seem odd

Comments about DV Mark Guitar Friend 12 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

You can't judge the clean headroom based on the wattage. This is class D technology like the Fender Rumble bass amp series. It will rip your head off if you're not careful. If you want loads of clean headroom in a light weight package this is a great choice. It does take pedals well. I was somewhat disappointed by the reverb which sounds like they tried to make a combination of reverb and chorus. The overdrive was a bit much as well. It does have a nice clean tone though and I'll be using my own effects. It's insanely light weight. It also has an amazing amount of bass. It's almost too much at noon but it can be dialed out effectively. This model does not have a fan like the DV Jazz 12, so it's dead quiet. I chose this over the Jazz 12 and I'm glad I did. As a jazz amp it's more like a Fender clean than a Polytone sound.

I bought this as a lightweight backup for my tube rig. This thing is very loud and it sounds quite good. For the money an amazing deal.

Comments about DV Mark Guitar Friend 12 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp sounds amazing. I've been looking for a light weight non-tube amp without built in effects to replace my tube amp(s) and this is it! And a 19 lbs. I think it weighs less than my RP1000 effects unit.
The only (and I mean ONLY) negative, which isn't a knock on the amp, is that I can't find a cover for it any place except ordering it from Italy. I LOVE IT!

Comments about DV Mark Guitar Friend 12 50W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have owned a lot of the top tube amps, but was looking for something easy to carry. It sounds real close to my tube amp that I have used for the last 10 years. But DV mark weights 1/2 that. The price is right buy one you won't regret it. I bought a 2nd one 6 weeks after. Now I have two. I have sold my tube amps except one I almost can't seem to give it away. It weights 85 lbs. The DV Mark 12 is just 19 lbs. OMG
Oh Yea almost forgot - takes pedals well. I do not use the OD 2nd channel. But it dose work well.
