Like a fire in your belly.

The Dwarfcraft Eau Claire Thunder fuzz effect pedal rectifies a few issues with other fuzz boxes, notably the need for a mid scoop. The Eau Claire Thunder fuzz is a classically styled distortion and sustain pedal, with a few Dwarfcraft twists. It scoops the mids for some cool metal tones.

Stomping on the Eau Claire Thunder's bypass switch puts you in familiar fuzzbox territory. Volume, Tone, and Distortion controls are all active, as well as the Timewarp toggle, which flips between the traditional hi-fi sound and a more blunted stoner-rock-type sound. (Note: if your amp has a lot of treble rolled off, you may not hear much difference between the Timewarp positions.)

Toneblast bypasses the tone control, giving you more mids, and a bunch more volume. You can tap the Feedback stomper at any time to trigger a momentary integrated feedback loop for cool extra noisy flavor.

The Trim control rolls back your input signal-useful in case of muddiness caused by hotter pickups. The Eau Claire Thunder fuzz pedal has the most bass of any Dwarfcraft stompbox. It also sounds amazing on bass guitars. Order now and hear it yourself.

Comments about Dwarfcraft Eau Claire Thunder Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

Aside from the price tag, this is a killer fuzz. It's not for people who want subtle crunchy sort of sounds, as the name suggests (although they're possible by adjusting the Trim knob). It is however extremely versatile and capable of some heavier, fuzzier sounds than one would expect from a pedal. Doom metal, desert/stoner rock, grunge and noise rock sounds are easy to dial in here. My only real complaints are that the Tone Blast has to be active for the Feedback switch to work and that the output jack is mounted near the top right portion of the pedal, so your regular pedal couplers won't be long enough here. Those two issues aside, awesome pedal!

A cool pedal, but....

Comments about Dwarfcraft Eau Claire Thunder Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a cool pedal and it sounds good. I like the variety of knobs and switches that let you sculpt the quality of the fuzz/distortion. Gets a nice bass heavy Russian muff sound with some nice variations. Is especially good for doomy stuff. The footswitchable feedback loop is something added that isn't necessary, at least for me, and this detracts from the feature set and drives up the price. I never use it.I think the quality of the build - internal wiring, soldering, and general neatness - should be much better on a pedal as expensive as this one.For the price you can get a better, equally good sounding Russian Big Muff clone + buy another pedal you want.I owned this pedal for a while and have since sold it. No regrets.

Analogue Awsomeness!!!

Comments about Dwarfcraft Eau Claire Thunder Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

I had been looking at this pedal and other Dwarftcraft devices for some time now. Ian makes killer stuff so I was stoked to finally get this thing. True bypass, killer fuzz ranging from stoner heaven to hi fi insanity. U hold down the feedback loop and start tweaking knobs. You'll get all kinds squeals stutters and other noisy goodness. I'm running this with my 5 string bass/svt4/8x10 rig and it pummels. My new band SkullStorm has the first show next month and I cant wait to crush faces. Shell out the cash and get something original and devastating.P.S. any product out there always has a lemon or 2.

Comments about Dwarfcraft Eau Claire Thunder Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

Bought one new and the input had a short in it. Shotty workmanship and apparently equally shotty quality control. Twice I emailed Dwarfcraft directly to ask about a replacement or them fixing it and got no response. Aside from that, it sounds "okay." I've heard many other (less expensive) pedals that can crush this one easily.

One of the best fuzz pedals around.

Comments about Dwarfcraft Eau Claire Thunder Fuzz Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've had an Eau Claire Thunder for about 6 months now and have played several shows with it, and I can say it is one of the best fuzzes I have heard. It's very Big Muf-esque with the distinctive mid scoop. Great for stoner metal and doom as well as shoegaze and post-rock. This pedal is used by bands like Boris and Russian Circles so if you like their music, this thing is for you. It's is now my main fuzz on my board replacing my vintage late 70s V5 op-amp Big Muf. It sounds a bit different than that one, as the old op-amp Mufs have their own unique sound, but it still gives you a fuzz that sounds equally as good if not better and is far more versatile. The tone blast switch is very nice, anyone with a Big Muf knows you can quickly get lost in a full band mix live due to the mid scoop. The tone blast bypasses the tone control, so turning it will do nothing while engaged, but it adds the mids back in so that you sit well in the mix. It also will boost the volume quite a bit so if you plan to kick the tone blast on for a solo keep that in mind. The time warp switch is a really nice addition, when the switch is down it sounds more like a vintage Big Muf, but when switched up it gives a nice splatted Velcro sounding stoner rock fuzz. The trim knob cuts the input signal which you can use to tame the some of the muddiness you might get from hum-buckers going into a fuzz pedal. The old saying that fuzzes only sound best with single coils is not true here since you can get great sounds with both. The feedback switch feature might seem kind of silly to many, but pairing it up with a few other pedals like delay and modulation can create really strange ambient washes where you can sit and mess with the feedback tune knob and the other knobs to change the sound of the feedback. You an experiment a lot with it. Honestly, this is a fantastic hand wired fuzz pedal with a ton of sounds to explore. Musician's Friend made me censor the name Big Muf. Yeah they flagged it for profanity.
