This head is loud, has a great EQ with the sweepable mids and the bright control, has a great compressor on the front end, and has a fantastic overdrive. The overdrive is not an all out distortion but just fattens up the tone and gives it a little edge. I like that I get compression and overdrive in a 2 rack space. Powering two 8-ohm cabinets, this thing goes pretty loud for 350W rating. I did have a problem with the front end. $100 repair. EBS sent me the parts and got me in contact with someone who could do the work. A little pricy but you get a lot of great features in a 2-rack space.
It's a bit on the pricey side, yes, but it's worth it. I've had my HD350 for a good year now and love it. It's so versatile and powerful. It packs a punch and is still really mellow. It can give you that aggressive rock tone, that spanky funk sound, and a great jazzy mellow vibe. The direct out line is great, I've used it a fair amount for recording. And if you have an EBS pedal, you can use a stereo cable going to it to power it via Phantom Power; that lets you use no battery and no power supply on the last pedal in your effects chain (I believe it has to be an EBS pedal though).
