OVERVIEW

A quick and easy way to eliminate AC hum and noise.

The Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator is a quick-and-easy way to eliminate AC hum and noise. Insert the Hum Eliminator in the line-level signal path after your preamp and it will break noisy ground loops without degrading your signal. Use it on long unbalanced lines that are especially vulnerable to noise. Many mixers don't have balanced monitor outs and aux sends, but you can make them quiet using Ebtech's Hum Eliminator. Includes 1/4" TRS smart jacks that convert automatically back and forth between balanced and unbalanced lines. Made in the USA.

This product does an EXCELLENT job for it's *intended* purpose - it electrically isolates connections between two pieces of gear. It's NOT a noise reducer for gtr distortion pedals (for that task, consider a unit like the Rocktron HUSH or a gate like the Boss NS2 or MXR M-135). A typical application where the Ebtech is used would be to connect the line-out of a bass head through the Ebtech to the PA. Often times, the PA and the bass amp will be powered on different 'mains' circuits - that is the source of 'ground loop hum'. The Ebtech uses a transformer to pass the signal magnetically with no electrical connection. In doing so, it breaks the loop and eliminates the hum. It is MUCH safer than the other common solution - using a ground lifter on either the PA or the bass amp. I keep the Ebtech in my gig bag along with an inexpensive plugin type AC outlet circuit tester. They are indispensable tools in maintaining safety and eliminating noise at gigs.

I bought this thing a while back and it didnt work at all. I used to use a wall wort to power 13 pedals no my board and was very confident that this would solve my problem. Unfortunately it only added more buzzing to my signal and beleived I may have purchased a dud. Eventually I bought the 1spot adapter and that solved my problem, to a degree. Perhaps later on, I'll buy another and hope it works for me.

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

this thing does exactly what I bought it for, but when i use it, it seems to drastically cut the sound signal- basically making me turn up the volume even more, just to get heard... it definately gets rid of that annoying buz from ground loops, but beware that if you don't have any headroom as far as volume goes, you will be dissapointed...

    Works Great

    By Chuck

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

Most musicians who are not satisfied with this product are not using it for the right application. This unit is a GROUND HUM ELIMINATOR and not a "noise gate." These are not the same thing. This product did a great job of eliminating ground hum caused by my AB switch. I now am able to use the AB switch without any ground loop hum.

    This thing works

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

Playing electric guitar setup with Furman powered pedalboard thru Fender '57 Twin. First pedal on the board is a TC Helicon Harmony GXT, followed by Fulltone OCD, and several other pedals. Awful hum thru the amp, regardless of powering pedals via the board (w/ 12V wall wart plugged into board for Harmony GXT) or Voodoo Lab Pedal Power. Removed the Harmony GXT and plugged direct into the OCD and no hum, so I knew the Harmony GXT was the culprit. I had purchased this Ebtech years ago and forgot I had it. I tried plugging it in between the Harmony GXT and the OCD, and BINGO - the hum is gone. Works great.

    Kills Ground Hum

    By Mike-d.X-J

    from Chicago, IL

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

I used this little box to kill the ground hum I was picking up in my rack. I stripped the rack down and plugged in each piece one by one until I found the offending gear. In my case, I had 2 pieces that had ground hum. I ran both through the eliminator and the ground hum is gone with no loss of signal. This will NOT fix any noise besides ground hum. If you don't have a ground issue, this is not the product for you. Check your gear first with a ground lift plug to determine if that is in fact your problem.

    Solves stereo effects loop hum...

    By Bradley-B70zA

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

Playing guitar, I run through a stereo rig (VHT Ultralead and Mesa rectoverb. I was experiencing hum because I was running a Boss dd 20 stereo delay through both effects loop of the two amps to acheive ping pong delay. I was also running a stereo reverb. Each amp also had a few other stomp boxes running. With my set up I had this slight annoying hum. So I took a chance on this device and found that it took away the hum permanently. It's great because I simply route this thing as the last component in my effects chain and use it to quiet down the effects loop. It served me well and all I am hearing are clean effects with two great and different amps for a great access to a variety of tube oriented sounds.

    The Ebtech Hum Eliminator

    By Sean Aguinaga

    from Hampton, NH

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

This device reduced my 60HZ cycle hum about 75%. I use a SansAmp PSA-1 pre-amp, a tubeworks power amp, and a les paul special. I placed the hum eliminator between the les paul and the SansAmp.

The Hum Eliminator was just what I needed to get rid of that nasty 60hz hum I had going on from a ground loop. I couldn't get rid of it for the life of me.

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

im in a band that does many live shows and i always have a problem with feed back and even with my noise suppressor i still get a ground hum. this thing works perfectly but if you are using a head like mine (i have a peavey valve king) your gound hum is most likely cased by the plug not by any loop so this has no value at all. if this is you i recommend the Ebtech Hum X Hum Exterminator. im ganna return this and get that

I use this in my effects loop to kill the hum picked up by my Monster Cable insert cable(very NOISY cable, but built very well).I run the send cable of the insert cable to the hum eliminator first, then to mxr chorus,to mxr flanger, then to 482i sonic maximizer, then sends the signal back through the return cable. This thing killed all the hum and noise with no problem. It's a very simple little box,and I highly recommend it.

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

This things works. No problems whatsoever. I was getting the AC HUM through my mixer and onto my recordings. After placing this baby in line, it completely killed the annoying hum. I even tried bypassing it to see if there was any damage to other parts of the signal and nothing else was harmed. I did come up with the alternative to cutting the ground plug off of powerstrip. This worked too, but I would suggest this better route.

PC Sound Card out to Amp

      By Byrne'ing Down The House

      from Oxford, MA

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

I am a mobile DJ and was having problems with that annoying 60 MHz hum behind the music. I was told to look for Ferrite Magnets to block out the ground loop hum but they did not work. So I purchased this unit and it works perfectly. My ratings are based on using a PC (laptops do not come with a 250 gig hard drive) line out to DJ Mixing Board and Amp. I?ve only used it for this application.

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

Not a magic box but a basic transistor isolator that does what it's designed to do. Make sure you know why you need it and how to use it before buying. As for me, worked fine eliminating an evil ground loop going from balanced pro system -> unbalanced stereo in the next room for casual listening.

      HUM ELIMINATOR!!!

Comments about Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator:

I use a lot of effects and i was getting a lot of hum from the ground loop and this thing got rid of it. Not to be confused with a gate that gets rid of single coil pickup hum but this works if you know what to do with it.
