This is the second of my two "mini" bass rigs consisting of a 500w head and a 1x12 cabs. Its an outstanding setup for someone who just doesnt play really big gigs. I always use one cab when practicing, jamming, or doing small bar gigs. The 250w into a single Eden cab is sufficient for most stuff actually. The tone is a big reason to get this amp. Theres only a few amps on the market in this price range including this one, the Markbass, and the Aguilar Tonehammer that sound really good, the differences come down to personal preference.

I love Eden products, but I have had a love hate relationship with this bass head ( I own 2 of them). The first generation of this head made a popping noise when pressing and depressing the mute switch (Kind of defeats the whole mute idea). Eden was aware of this and fixed it in new revisions however, previous revision owners were told to "purchase a volume pedal and not use the mute switch". This is super poor customer service and will keep me from buying future Eden brand products (even though I love Eden tone). The compressor when used makes a clipping noise and this issue is also present in the newer revisions of this head, making on board compression unusable. I was forced to buy an Eden direct box (great DI) in order to use a compressor and still keep my Eden tone (more money spent on Eden). With so many smaller compact bass heads on the market, I can't in good faith recommend this head when more can be had for less.

On a side note, I have written to Eden about my frustrations regarding the mute pop and compression clip. No replies have been sent. When called directly, I was given the (Use a volume pedal instead) statement. This for me at least does not fly when I had purchased this head for the mute/compression attributes. After spending more money on a foot-switch following my initial purchase to engage the mute from my pedal board, I find Eden's response and/or lack of followup to be insulting.

Great little compact Rig

Comments about Eden WTX500 Bass Amp Head:

for the gig I do, small clubs, private parties, even hotel conventions, this bass amp can handle even more. what i like about it is it's size, features, weight & very compact, plus the tone is better. I also own a GK500 micro amp which is similar, but Eden has more "fat sound"

Comments about Eden WTX500 Bass Amp Head:

It's a nice little amp. Powerful enough to push two SWR Goliaths, and sounds good. My only beef as of now is, the awful snap/pop you get when the "mute" switch is engaged. I havn't had a chance to use the "direct out" yet. I have an Eden D210XST also, but the head is too powerful for it. Other than that, it's great for portabilty! Beats the heck out of lugging my racked SWR-750x!

Comments about Eden WTX500 Bass Amp Head:

Pros: Loved the weight. Very nice electronics. Good feel to all the controls. Great bass tones. Nice overall piece of gig worthy equipment. Nice user friendly manual. Cons: Crooked, hand painted lines on control knobs. Never could find "my tone" that I'm used to from my Peavey and Hartke amps. Main gripe: Willing to work with finding my tone issue but couldn't get the volume I needed. Maxed out volume controls but did not achieved normally LOUD stage levels. Final results: I would love to try this amp for awhile to see if it could make the corporate gig scene but side by side with my Hartke out in the garage, well...it just didn't compare well.

Comments about Eden WTX500 Bass Amp Head:

The Bottom Line on this Bass Amp..."Very versatile & plenty of Nice Bass"...I believe in easy, lightweight professional gear that is not based on size or fancy gimics...This has all the EQ possibilities & compressor & mute...I pair this Amp up with several different Eden Cabinets for rehearsal, coffehouse gigs or even outdoors..When outdoors I simply use the DI out to the house PA...I use Eden Cabinets with this Amp because they are matched in tone and most important they are efficient (Eden Cabs are louder for the amount of power applied)...This AMP and 1 OR 2 Eden D112XLTs is all you really need...Save your back and start enjoying the gig...

Just got it early July and just might give my LMK-II a little rest. The mute & pre/post D.I. with volume control puts it over the top. I think I forgot to mention TONE,POWER,PORTA...WINNER!!Have not played with it enough yet for a 5 Quality rate.

Comments about Eden WTX500 Bass Amp Head:

Sweet Eden sound from a small, light package with musical EQ and a compelling compressor and bass boost. Most of the bells and whistles a pro could ask for like a balanced line out with ground lift, an annoyingly pingy mute switch for the tuner and plenty of signal routing, volume and gain options. I opted for this after trying the Gallien-Krueger MB500, both with the Eden D210 XST.
Even with the considerable fan noise, the tone is so good its difficult to quit playing. Syrupy lows, bold mids and tender highs at any volume. Maybe a well ventilated, dampened rack will curb the fan issue.

Can't wait to turn it up to 4!!

        By Mary's Ghost - Adam

Comments about Eden WTX500 Bass Amp Head:

I just picked this thing up a week ago...and haven't been able to turn it past 1 1/2 in our small rehearsal space! Can't wait for upcoming gigs. I have it paired with an Ampeg SVT 8x10 and Line 6 Bass pod for effects and more tones on the way. You should use a pedal if you want anything more than basic...this thing delivers for any style of music probably...I play rock and roll.

Comments about Eden WTX500 Bass Amp Head:

I did a good thing last night, tried two amps - the Eden WTX-500 on the first set, then my old made in USA Eden WT-300. No comparison, giving the class D back to my pal who was gonna sell it to me...for a really great price if I want it, but I don't. And this was into two cabs, 4 ohm load, so I was getting the full 500w out of the WTX-500. Weak. Can't recommend it except as an emergency backup - if one's available used and inexpensive. Otherwise you have to bite the bullet and go with Genz Benz or Aguilar.
