Comments about Egnater Armageddon 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
Sound is the most important thing to me and The Armageddon has great sound.Channel one has great clean sound which I am very happy with and I'm fussy. You can also set channel one for an on the edge dirt or drive tone. Channel two is great for a wide range of overdrive and channel three has extreme singing overdrive either bright or smooth and thick which I love. The built in ISP G String Decimator noise suppression makes things so much easier than having to hook up a separate unit and it does the best job of getting rid of pick up squeal, hiss, hum and buzz on high gain overdrive. No other amp has this. The master midrange with variable boost or cut gives you preset or footswitchable tone variations. Easy output bias settings let you use the type of output tubes you want. The price is very reasonable and the amp uses great parts and is well built with a cooling fan. The control layout makes so much sense. The bright switch adds the right frequencies for sparkle without being harsh. The tight switch prevents too much upper bass on certain pick ups. The amp is just so great.
Comments about Egnater Armageddon 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
Overall, I would buy this amp in a heartbeat if I had the money. The iSP Decimator is a life saver on the gain channels. I played a Jackson Christian Olde Wolbers Signature 7 string guitar through this and the tone was really articulate but fat and crushing at the same time. Not muddy at all. The global midrange knob really helps with low tune players to help those deep notes cut through the most dense mix of a band. Clean channel was nice and buttery. Could have used a little more harmonic content in it, but that may be attributed to the 6L6 power tubes. I would swap those out with EL34's or KT77's to get more of that brighter crunch and better harmonics out of this beast. All in all, this amp is great. Articulate, roaring riffs with singing sustaining leads and it doesn't sound like the typical Mesa/Boogie, Marshall, Krank metal fizz tone. This thing is a beast and I think I will buy one someday and run it simultaneously with my Carvin V3. They are very similar tone and feature-wise, the Armageddon is just a little darker sounding out of the box, more than likely due to the power tubes (which is hardly an issue).
I only give this a 9 rating because of the power tubes. I am an EL34 fan more so than a 6L6 tube fan which this comes with. If I were to buy it, I would load this puppy with KT77's, which are hotrodded, bigger bottle versions of EL34's. Bigger, badder tone! I didn't realize this had reverb because those knobs are located on the rear of the head. It is midi capable which can be very handy and make it easy to integrate into any rig setup. The layout of the dials is simple and straightforward. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to to figure it out. Just plug in, tweak knobs and let it rip.
The quality of this amp is 100% great. Great components, looks, features, sounds and playing response.
This amp is incredible. Not too bad of a price for an amp with these features and sounds.
Comments about Egnater Armageddon 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I have owned tons of geat and i have been waiting for this amp to hit the shelves for a long time. This amp has a tone of features that will keep this thing current for a long time. The amp has been built to last and i am confident it will provide years of truble free use the same as my other Egnater gear does.
Plenty of tone shaping conrols. Loaded with feature but the best overall is the built in ISP G-String noise gate. That thing is just brillant. The cooling fan for the amp head is a first also. I wish the controls for the reverb were on the front of the amp instead of hte back.
Built like a tank. Controls have good responsive feel and nothing on the amp has a "cost savings" feel. Comes with a nice padded amp cover too.
I think it is priced a little high for an asian import, but with all the features it's a great value overall.
