OVERVIEW

Power and portability come together in this Egnater half stack.

Now you can get the Egnater Rebel 20 amp head and Rebel 112X cabinet in one hot ultra-portable half-stack.

Rebel 20 Amplifier Head

The Rebel 20 from Egnater is a truly professional amp head with features and sound that are anything but small. Inside you'll find three GrooveTubes 12AX7 preamp tubes, a pair of GrooveTubes EL84 power tubes, and a pair of GrooveTubes 6V6 power tubes. Not only do you get the signature Egnater TIGHT and BRIGHT voicing switches, you also have wide range gain control that lets you go from bluesy clean up to roaring high-gain lead all using a single gain knob.

The Watts control lets you turn the Rebel 20's power from 20 watts to 1 watt for bandstand to bedroom volume. This guitar amp head also includes a professional quality effects loop that doesn't "suck tone." But the coolest feature of the Egnater Rebel 20 is the TUBE MIX control—an Egnater first. With the TUBE MIX knob turned counterclockwise you get the classic American sound of the 6V6 power tubes. Set the Rebel 20's knob full clockwise to experience the more aggressive, British sound of the EL84 tubes. For the first time, you can blend the two types of tubes in any proportion you wish to create a truly signature sound.

Rebel 112X Extension Cabinet

The Egnater Rebel 112X is a 1 x 12" birch speaker cabinet that combines musical prowess and functionality. The closed-back cab is loaded with a custom-voiced Egnater Celestion Elite 80 speaker. The front-ported design provides maximum bass response and sweet singing highs. With a height of just over 15" and width of less than 19", the Rebel 112X speaker cab is compact enough to fit on any size stage and is the perfect complement to the Rebel 20 head.

Alright.. Reading the previous reviews, I see a few people complaining about the amp and cabinets weak Low end, I have no idea what you're talking about. I brought this thing from the store, Plugged it in put all my knobs at 12'o clock, and boom! Instant TONE!!! This thing sounds MASSIVE when cranked. IN order to get any tube amp to sound good you have to make your tubes work.
People dont understand that the cab comes with an "egnater Elite 80" Celestion. In reality it is a custom Celestion Classic Lead 80 that was made for them, with the low end enhanced (according to forums, and bruce egnater). And its Killer!!
The amps tube mix is sweet and it takes pedals pretty well. I dont use the FX loop because I prefer running all my pedals in the front of the amp.
Its small, loud and wicked sounding!! What more would you need?

I won't say that the Egnater Rebel 20 Half Stack is a bad amplifier just because I got a bad one. But I will base my review off of MY specific amp that was shipped to me. Look at the other reviews--there are satisfied customers using this product. My only advice is to test the product thoroughly before the return date expires. It doesn't feel good knowing that you're now stuck with this wasted money that you can't get back.
This amp's features are what led me to the purchase in the first place. I needed something that could be played comfortably at bedroom /studio /small gig volume with a consistent classic rock tone. With this amp's wattage control, I was more or less able to do that while the amp worked. I love amps that have good EQ's. However, I found this amp's EQ to be fairly unresponsive. The "bright" and "tight" switches are good for sculpting a certain sound, I suppose. Also, there is a "Tube Mix" control that is supposed to alternate volumes of the 6V6's and EL84's, but the difference in tone was far too subtle to even mention as one of this amp's features. Personally, I would much rather have a responsive, better quality EQ than the two swithces and "Tube Mix" control.
When this amp arrived, I was very happy with the purchase, but sent in the Egnater 1 year warranty card just in case. Just my luck: this amp started to have severe volume drop issues right after the return date to Musician's Friend passed. Even with no pedals in the chain, there a severe volume drop with sputtering, hissing sounds.
You're supposed to waid 30 seconds before playing to allow the tubes to heat up. However, I have to wait 30-40 minutes before this sputtering and volume issue subsides and even then there are still sputtering noises and volume inconsistencies.
I contacted Egnater Customer Service, they're supposed to be pretty good. The guy told me to check my cables. I did-- wasn't the cables. Then he told me it was certainly the tubes. I bought over a hundred bucks worth of brand new tubes for this thing. Surprise--wasn't the tubes. Now Egnater says I've voided the warranty because I MUST'VE done something wrong changing the tubes. (Btw I've successfully changed plenty of tubes before, and the changing of this amp's tubes is no exception.)
It could be a bad circuit board, I don't know. Honestly, I don't care because there's no way for me to reasonably fix it because my warranty's void.
As soon as this amp was arrived I was very pleased with the price that I paid for it. However, I certainly wouldn't have paid a dime for a cubic sputtering peice of junk with knobs on it. It's a shame the one I have doesn't work correctly otherwise the price would probably be worth it.

    Egnater Rebel Half Stack

    By Pnabur-pw69s

    from St Charles, MN

Comments about Egnater Rebel Half Stack:

Just purchased the Rebel Half Stack with an additional 1 X 12 cabinet. I traded in a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I play a Les Paul, Strat and Hot Rod Tele. This amp picks up all the special sounds of each guitar much better than the Fender. Clean, distorted, different pick up options. The band was amazed at the sound output of this amp. What makes it so special is I can adjust the tube selection for sound, adjust the output power for balance on stage. We play in a small area on stage and mic the amp. The Hot Rod Deluxe had great output but the ability to control its tone while turning down the volume made it difficult get the tone and balance I was looking for. We play from Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum to Foo Fighters so I have to have flexible amp sound. The really amazing factor is I can bring it in my office and cut the volume down to a comfortable level and not loose the sound quality. This is a great amp for all of the right reasons. Priced very competitively against other amps and may be the best priced amp with its features.

    WOW, Yes WOW

    By DJBMLP

Comments about Egnater Rebel Half Stack:

I bought this amp back in May of 09 and have been using it ever since. I am a gigging rhythm guitarist and play both fender fat strat and an epiphone custom LP. I have found this amp to scream tone, any way you want it. Well maybe not metal. but pretty much anything else. I've been using it to gig with and have had no problem getting out with it. I do however mike it for out door gigs. but club gigs no need at all. best all around amp I think I,ve ever used. I got the head and matching cab and when I heard how well it sounded I couldn't wait to get the second cab. Now my not so mini full stack just screams to be played. Don't hesitate to buy this, you will NOT go away unhappy.

    Egnater Rebel - too thin

    By Slowlygettingbetter

    from Minneapolis, MN

Comments about Egnater Rebel Half Stack:

After the standard 'test' at the music store, I brought this home with one concern: thin bottom end. After two hours warming up and 90 minutes of playing, I could NOT overcome a weak bottom-end with this combo. I suspect that it was the Egnater cab, not the head. Maybe break-in would resolve the issue, but no amount of tweaking knobs could get this to play decently from the low E string until I was well up the neck. Other than that, a beautiful combo in every other way. The combo was returned and I bought a less-expensive Blackheart 15W head and cabinet that is no muss-no fuss straight ahead set-up that I enjoy as soon as I power it up.

    Very Nice Amp

    By Dinyeh

    from Ohio

Comments about Egnater Rebel Half Stack:

I bought one of these about a month ago. Also bought the matching cabinet. As you know, there are a plethora of low wattage amps that have been introduced recently. I'm sure all of them have some great features as well as limitations. My decision to buy the Egnater was based on the ability to switch power tube types and great tone. The tube switching feature does make a differance in the sound. Also, I find the tight and bright switches are very effective and creative tools. The combination of these give a lot of flexability. I wish it had reverb. However, I have a RV-7 reverb pedal as well as a BBE Sonic Maximizer connected to the FX loop. Although the FX loop does not have a volume control, this is no big deal for me. I adjust the volume on the pedals. The FX loop works and sounds very good in my opinion. All in all, the amp fits my purpose which is a low wattage amp for practice and recording while offering a lot of tonal and creative variety. This is not a "one trick pony". The quality of construction seems very good. The handle on the head seems a bit on the flimsy side. However, this is a small issue. If you are looking for an amp that is easy to carry around and offers many tonal choices, check it out. I love mine and have found it has encouraged me to play my guitar longer. Plus, it looks great!

Comments about Egnater Rebel Half Stack:

So I walked into the music store and was loking for a good tube amp and finally got around to this guy...WOW! It puts everything else to shame in my book. Don't be fooled by the smallness it can get pretty loud...but my favorite part of this amp is the tube mix and the tight switch you can do so much with this lil guy...in my opinion you can put it into any style of music for real hardcore metal you need a lil more gain but not much...going to get it sometime this week.

    Extreme versatility

    By SDR

    from St. Charles, IL

Comments about Egnater Rebel Half Stack:

This amp provides more versatility than any amp that I've ever played on. The ability to change percentage of usage of 6v6's or el84 tubes is amazing. The tone is awesome on any setting that I've tried. I've been playing with a PRS CE24 and a Gibson ES Artist. I've had great success with each. The option of 1 - 20 watts allows great overdriven tube sound at a low volume. However, when cranked up this baby can wail nice and loud. Quality seems very good despite being made in China. Only downside that I can perceive is the ability to get a true clean sound at high volumes. Yet, this is truly an exceptional amp at an incredible price. Don't pass it up.

    A great product!

    By Ryan-h136H

Comments about Egnater Rebel Half Stack:

I picked one of these up last week. Very articulate, responsive and just sounds good. Has a good bit of clean headroom, It keeps up with a drummer fairly well, and plenty of volume with distortion. Portable, and it looks good. The EQ is all very responive and the tube mix knob is awesome. I gave it a 4.5 on features because it has an FX loop but no volume for the FX loop. You can work around it, but it would have been nice.

little stack with a lot of attitude behind it

    By SurfTX06

    from Fort Worth

Comments about Egnater Rebel Half Stack:

This little Rebel 20 is quite incredible. I love the feature to switch and blend between the 6v6 and el84 Groove Tubes. Being in control of your amp is all a guitarist wants and the Rebel makes it easier. True tone and functioning on this portable amp is what sold me. This is definitely next on my list. Can't really describe what can only be done by actually play it, so I highly recommend you do, you won't regret it.
