OVERVIEW

Built for the rigors of the road.

The Egnater Tourmaster 212x is a full size 2x12" speaker cabinet that provides both a sealed back and partially open back design. The cabinet is shipped with a sealed back but features a removable rear center panel for partial open back design. With the back sealed you get tight powerful low-end. By removing the panel you add vintage style sweetness reminiscent of old '60s and '70s combos.

The large physical dimensions and all-birch cabinetry produce a sound that rivals most 4x12" cabinets. Loaded with the custom voiced Egnater Celestion Elite 80 speaker, the Tourmaster 212x is a perfect fit to any Egnater amp head. You can also use this speaker cab to turn your combo into a full stack. Fitted with heavy-duty removable casters and metal side handles this cabinet is easy to transport and built for the rigors of the road.

I upgraded from a small modeling amp to the Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 18 with the Egnater cab and I couldn't be happier. I'm a home musician but wanted something with clarity and this combo gives me everything from clean crisp tones to heavy crunch rhythm. I'm running a Tonelab EX on the front end and using the clean channel with a little reverb and chorus for certain tunes. The cab is built very well and the casters are a big bonus for possible future gigs. You won't be sorry about the purchase!

Boomy and bassy

Not a terrible sound, but really boom-y, even with the back opened up. For someone wanting a loud, bass-heavy sound, it's great. I'm just not a fan.

Bought the Tourmaster 2X12 cab to down size from my 1960A cab with my Marshal TSL100 head for smaller venues. With the TSL100 head the Tourmaster 2X12 cab sounds frickin' amazing. It has a much tighter sound than the 1960A cab. I can't wait to play the gig we have booked this weekend with it.

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

This cab rocks. It is the proverbial bomb. You can?t go wrong with this. Mine arrived at 1:30 pm today, it is now 9:00 pm and I just stopped playing it sounded so good. This cab replaced a valve king cab and kicks its tone but. I play country, classic rock and would much rather have this cab than the VK.I power my cab with a Randall RT2-50 power amp. For preamps I use a Boss GT pro and a ENGL 530 pre amp running through FX loop 1 on the GT Pro to provide tube warmth and a tube overdrive channel. Sounds like anything you want, Fender, Vox, Mesa, Marshall. This is a BANG FOR BUCK cab? just buy it? you won?t be disappointed, Celeston 80 speakers sound great, oversize box projects, wonderful construction. I haven?t even tried open back yet? zero buyer?s remorse here? I want another!

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

When I was looking to buy a professional amplifier that would last me for years to come my heart stopped when I found the Egnater Rebel, instead of getting the 1x12 I decided to get this baby and I couldn't be happier. The creamy tone that oozes out of these celestion 80's is incredible, I removed the back panel and not only does this cabinet look sexy but the headroom it provides is incredible. Hopefully someday I will be able to afford a Tourmaster Combo to stack on this baby but for right now I have no problems.Bruce I love your quality, never change.

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

Just picked this cab up a few days ago. I bought the Tourmaster 4100 head about a month ago and I'd been running it through an old Peavey Classic Series 1x15 cab. It got the job done, but if that cab was a bricklayer, the Egnater is a master marble-worker. I had been saving up for the 4x12 when the guy at the store called to tell me this 2x12 had come in. It's cheaper, LIGHTER (very important), and sounds spectacular too. The detachable casters are very convenient and look pretty rugged. My favorite feature is the removable back panel so you can have either closed-back or partial open-back configuration, each with its own sound. As a closed-back cab it was nice and booming with a VERY well defined low-end. With the panel removed it got a lot warmer and more chimey. There's really no way to lose here.I can't really give a final verdict until the speakers are better broken in, but in the 48 hours I've had it, I've spent about 12 playing it; so that tells you something. It is HARD to turn the amp off and go to bed, or work, or whatever other obligation might intrude in my guitar nirvana.I am extremely satisfied by the value. For what you pay, you get a LOT.

    Great Cabinet

    By Trent Safford

    from Iowa

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

If you're on the line about this cab, just buy it. My experience with Egnater has been marvelous thus far. I was on the edge for awhile about going with this over more well known names, but after playing them all, Egnater continues to please.
This cabinet has simple features, but they are well planned. Having a handle on top, as well on the sides make this cabinet really easy to tote around whether you are alone, or have a helping hand. The casters make for easy transport to wherever you need to go. This cab also can be run stereo, so you could run an Egnater Tweaker into one speaker, and say an Orange Tiny Terror into the other. And the Egnater designed Celestions sound great as well.
This thing is robust. I play a lot of school and church gigs, as well as my own music, so this cab spends a lot of time in transit. After a few months with it, theres still yet to be a nick in the tolex, and handles are still strong, the jacks are great. Really can't complain at all here.
I bought mine used to pair with the 15w Egnater Tweaker head, and for what I got it for, I'm blown away. Paired, this thing can easily dial in any sound you could possibly dream of. I use it to nail Vox, Fender, and Marshall tones. If this one broke, (more likely to get stolen than to break!) I'd definitely replace it with the same cab. Really great sound, you get what you pay for plus some.

    Very Surprised

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

I have a Mesa Dual Rectifier half stack. When our band practices, I have to transport my rig back and forth. I originally bought this cab to downsize my haul. This cab sounds very comparable to my recto cab at medium volumes and even better at low volumes. It is very adjustable to different styles of music. It goes from classic clean country tones to heavy low ended metal tones. I play in both genres. I use it alone at our smaller gigs and use it in conjunction with my recto cab at larger gigs. It shows out with clean tones with the option of open or closed back. I have stuck with the open back option. This cab is very well built and has very tasteful looks. I recommend it whole heatedly.

I bought this 4 or 5 years ago as an inexpensive alternative to a vintage Fender cab, for hauling around to practice and shows. What attracted me was the oversize cab, 2x12 format with the options for different open/closed back. This cab has great response across the whole frequency range, has great speakers in it, is built like a tank, and just sounds wonderful.

I've played through it all over the years...from 8" combo amps to 2 4x12's stacked up and pushed with 200 watts of tubes in stereo, and this unit will do anything you need. My performance rig is Strat HSS,> Pod HD500X, >into Peavey stereo classic50/50,>pushing Egnator 2x12 in stereo. SOLID construction, real handles, real casters, open back option. Sound wise, this cabinet really does rival a 4x12 in presence and air movement because of it's well engineered size. Sound quality is really, and honestly, VERY good, covering fender-like cleans well, all the way to plexi and Engl heavy drive, and getting better as it gets broken in. Very high on the bang-for-buck scale.

Comments about Egnater Tourmaster 212X 2x12 Guitar Extension Cabinet:

I bought this cabinet to use with my Egnater Rebel 20 head, and I could not be more pleased. The sound is full without that harshness of the 1x12 cabinet I was using. I was so disappointed with the sound of Rebel 20 with the matching 1x12 cabinet that I considered selling the amp, but I'm glad I didn't. This cabinet brought the Rebel 20 to life. There is a trade-off for the great sound though; this cabinet is big and heavy. Maybe too heavy for an old rocker like me, but I can't imagine playing a gig or practice without it.

I use this amplifier with the Electro-Harmonix 44 Magnum power amp and it cranks out big sound. Unfortunately, I do get hum and buzz from my signal chain if I turn the power amp anywhere past nine O'clock. I suppose that is to be expected. I think I would be better off getting an amp head. This amplifier is best used in a larger setting than my studio apartment. It's too heavy for me to move on my own, but at least it comes with heavy duty wheels.
