Comments about Egnater Tweaker-88 88W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I bought this amp because I was looking for a "best of all worlds" amplifier that could cover Fenderish Cleans as well as Marshallesque crunch with a Vox AC30 thrown in for good measure. Well, I haven't been dissapointed in this amp. This is the first head I've used with KT88 tubes and I've been very pleased overall with the tonal range and character of these glow bottles. This amp is very responsive to your playing and attack, and the effects loop, (tube driven) is silent and very well integrated. Although I wish that the effects loop was switchable without having the control switches plugged in. If you unplug the stomp switch, you cant' turn on the effects loop. An on-board switch would have been a better option as I don't like to lug around this extra four-button switch to gigs. Ther are boost pedals for each channel on there though, and these work extremely well with the boost level controls. You will spend lots of time dialing in one great tonal combination after another which is why they called the thing the "Tweaker". If you are looking for ta versatile amp with enought power to play out and not go bankrupt, this is the one...!
Comments about Egnater Tweaker-88 88W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
amp is way to dark IMHO. It still sounds good but a little flat, nothing special. Not sure I like kt-88's and your stuck with them. Like that it's not that big or heavy. Think egnater should revoice this amp very fat and dark. Sounds best with my strat. This is my second review. after keeping this amp for a month I sent it back. Again the amp sounds good but nothing special. May try the Tweaker 40
needs a presence controll and add another usa, vox, marshall, switch, so they can be set differently for each channel. Not sure I like KT-88's and you can't run other tubes uless they can handle 600 volts. I hate that the bias adjustments are inside the chasiss, pain to get to and dangerous.
to soon to tell but, seems built good
good value for the price.
Comments about Egnater Tweaker-88 88W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I am not a big fender amp fan. Never liked em. Never liked any amp with 6L6's for sure and the egnator tweaker 40 has the 6L6's. Cranked, it sounded like a loose bowel movement(like fenders). The 88 though stays tight and sweetens cranked. I am getting rid of my AC30's now. I can do everything I want with the tweaker 88. I play in a 50, 60, 70, and sometimes some 80's music, so there are a lot of sounds I have to cover. I also like to record my own stuff with scooped mids and punchy bass (ie. megadeth etc). I can get everything I want now with out having to program a pain in the butt pedal board.......Just plug in, flip a switch or two and dial in the room sound on the amp and get to work.
2 chanels with boost options that have separate volume controls. It is like having 4 channels and is awesome for the live gig when you need volume for a solo. This amp gets great old timer sounds with my les paul with p90's, with the sg (gib pafs) standard, probably shines the most with my american standard strat the the lp with p90's. Great shred tones with my les paul with the zakk wylde emg pickups. Charvels, Ibanez, Jacksons, BC Rich, Kramers (seymore duncs and dimarzios) all sound great. The only guitar that I haven't found a good sound with on this amp is the brian may red special????? Yet? still have a lot of tweaking to do. haha
seems prety solid.
I don't know, I had reservations about spending alot for just a head. I already have too much equipment and have been trying to find a way to simplify my live rig. But, this amp makes me want to explore tones again. It is just fun to dial up an amp sound again.

love it can really get a great fender clean and a killer marshall sound that work well together, not to mention vox in there too.
read the specs, it's loaded would have been a ten if it had a presence knob.
to soon to tell but seems built really well.
can't beat this amp for this money.
