OVERVIEW

Back by popular demand!

One of the most sought-after units in the Electro-Harmonix line, the Bassballs Bass Effects Pedal uses twin dynamic filters to track picking dynamics at slightly different frequencies, creating shifting peaks and notches that simulate human speech. Distortion mode further emphasizes vowel-like overtones. A great accessory for bass or guitar.

This pedal takes time to get to know. Some of the previous reviews are mistaken thinking this is an auto wah. It is not. It is its own filter animal.Put sensitivity between 9 and 12 0'clock then experiment witk pick attack.Try it with the disrortion on and either and overdrive, or amp distortion after. Take time to make adjustments and you will discover the unique personality of this pedal, with bass or guitar. If you have no patience move on. If you do, the sonic possibilities are worth exploring. This pedal is a blast!

plastic doesn't cut it anymore, people, geez...I got this in that wooden box it rattling around in that box while shipping must have messed up a lot, the distortion didn't work, the plastic holding the i/o into place broke off (cheapass plastic) making it impossible to plug into, the main effect sounded good, not great. If you want a good pedal, get the NYC version, much more secure and much more sturdy.

Good in moderation

By Mac-c2-8i

Over the years this pedal has been on and off my board depending on what mood I'm in. It's currently on, as I am in an analog mood these days. However, I only turn the level dial up only enough to get a subtle "mwah" sound, which is at about 9 o'clock. Don't like the distortion- you probably have a better one in your collection to add that if needed. Very hissy when turned up half way or more. With that said, it is usable for guitar and bass alike.

Electro Harmonix Bassballs

I just bought this thing the other day and it is a decent pedal. The only thing I absolutely hate about it is that it doesnt have a true bypass. It makes my slap sound muddy and terrible. But it if you have an effects loop, that usually solves the problem. Other than that it's all good.

Pretty Useful

By Doug-jcCKf

I must have an older version of this thing, many people have commented that it is cheaply built of plastic, but mine is all solid powder coated metal. It is amazingly dynamic and has a true bypass, but if your'e just playing out of a digital amp than I guess your'e not going to care much anyways.

unique!

By Unknowndude

I really enjoy using this pedal. It has a totally unique sound, and sounds totally different on guitar and bass. The sound is very tweakable for a one knob, one switch pedal. On clean the sensitivity knob simply changes the sound of the pedal, and with distortion on it acts as a volume knob, with a bit of tone change.

A great effect for your bass

By Andy-S4tTt

Tjis effect will transform your bass into a melodic driving sound that will draw attention to your playing with even the most simple bassline, great for live gigs, but adds spice to your solo practices.

This pedal is GREAT. Very refreshing sound. Tough to record with my simple recording setup, but really nice in person.

This pedal is not worth your time

By Rock4evor

from Waterford, MI

I was attracted to this pedal because it had a cool vintage look to it. But when I hooked it up the thing sounded like complete shit. It dosen't even sound like a distortion pedal, it only has this crappy auto-wah effect. Stay far away from this pedal. Check out www.myspace.com/cashmusic
