OVERVIEW

Classic Big Muff sound packed into a compact pedal perfect for any pedalboard.

The Nano Big Muff Pi works and sounds identical in every way to the classic NYC Big Muff Pi. Electro Harmonix took the Big Muff circuit and simply shrunk it without changing its rich sustain and legendary sound.

For over 40 years, the Big Muff Pi has helped define the sound of rock guitar. Three flexible yet powerful controls let you dial in the perfect sound. Crank the Volume to bring on the distortion while the Tone knob focuses on sonic color and the Sustain control unleashes a powerful, silky, singing tone.

Revered by contemporary guitarists and rock legends alike for its rich, creamy, violin-like sustain, everyone wants a piece of the Pi. Now you can have it in the time-honored classic chassis, or the new, compact nano design.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Nano Big Muff Guitar Effects Pedal:

While I have more pedals than I know what to do with, there are always certain ones you hear about more than others. As a result, someone like me will purchase one just to see what the hype is about. Having heard nothing but good things on the BigMuff pedal, I started thinking that I need to get one of these. After watching a video on Youtube that compared the large BigMuff with the NANO. I heard no difference between the larger one over the smaller. Because of this I ordered the small one since it does give you more room on your pedal board. Some of my pedals are much higher in price than this one, but from what I have heard so far none are better when it comes to distortion/overdrive. The reason I use both of those terms is due to what you have the settings on. This thing can get really nasty when gain is turned up along with volume, or just thicken your sound when turned down. In addition the tone control can give you warm to bright sounds. I played this over my Marshall JVM410H half stack and it can get loud enough to shatter windows. When used alone I didn't find any unwanted noise to speak of even when turned up loud. For the quality, sound, and money, I doubt that you could buy a better effects pedal of this type made by any brand.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Nano Big Muff Guitar Effects Pedal:

I had the full size pedal for several years and I bought the nano to make more room on my pedalboard. Upon arrival, I did a thorough comparison between them. Both pedals are capable of the same tones, the only notable difference is that the nano has a little more clarity and presence.

For more cool tones, you should also try using a tube screamer right before the nano.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Nano Big Muff Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal looking for some dark overdrive/fuzz/Jack white kinda tone and got exactly that. This pedal is pretty cool, haven't had any issues with it, once i set it up to get the tone i was looking for, played it for hours non-stop and was really pleased with it. I tried out the regular BM in my local music store and bought this from Musicians Friend hoping it would be the same sound quality in a smaller packaging and i was right.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Nano Big Muff Guitar Effects Pedal:

I love the sound of the NYC Big Muf Pi, but holy sweet lord that thing is huge. For Christmas I ordered the Little Big Muf Pi, while sounding close, it also sounded thinner. While it was good enough to replace the original on my pedalboard (needed the realestate) there was still something missing for me.

Ordered the nano and was I pleasantly surprised. It sounds really, really close to the normal sized NYC Muf; had the girth, but in a much smaller package. What I didn't realize was how versatile the Muf fuzz is. We all know this pedal as something good for alt rock, classic rock but plugged a humbucker equipped guitar into a Marshall model on my Vox VT15 and BAM! a doom metal-ish tone.

Anyways if you (like me) LOVE that NYC Big Muf Pi tone and need it in a compact enclosure, this is the pedal for you. Forget the imitators, forget the so called "Muf killers" and get the original... shrunken down.

Sorry about the misspelling, apparently reviews aren't allowed the 2 f's. Go figure.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Nano Big Muff Guitar Effects Pedal:

Nice nice nice - gets you right into fuzz world right away with the dials. This is a rich big-bodied distortion without the razor edge that some boxes irritatingly deliver. When placed fist before all other overdrive (not distortion) pedals, this is one good bullet to have in the chamber. It does not like other distortion pedals run with it - they each fight and phase cancel, so, it is to be used on its own (or with another drive pedal afterwards) to get its max effect. I run this, then a Hot Tubes Nano afterwards... just killer. Each guitar will have its own sweet setting. If you want fuzz and distortion all in one shot - this is an awesome way to go. Once again, it likes only itself as the sole distortion source - but loves to be driven afterwards. It is not for the squeamish - once tapped on - you better be ready at the gate.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Nano Big Muff Guitar Effects Pedal:

Been moving into the world of effects pedals lately, so I thought I'd give this one a try. I dig the "British"-type fuzz tones (Wolfmother, Jet, White Stripes, ZZ-Top, etc.). I had just enough room on my board for this little guy, and it fits right in. Upon receipt, I can see right away that this pedal is well-constructed and very solid - this thing can handle some abuse. The layout of knobs is simple and easy to use, so experimenting and dialing in different sounds and tones is a breeze. I'm using this in the middle of my chain, before a Phaser, but after my Wah, into my Fender Blues Jr. I'm getting the best results running it with a "cleaner" amp setting - the thing can go from slightly-dirty-singing-sustain, to way-too-fuzzy-overdriven-craziness. I"m having a great time with it, and am very happy with the purchase. This is, however, my first Fuzz pedal, so I'm unable to compare it to others. But I'm glad that I have it in my personal arsenal - it's opened doors and inspired many new, interesting riffs and licks!

The Nano sounds exactly like the original BigMufff Pie! I tried to use this in-line on my pedal board, but no matter where I placed it the volume loss was to significant compared to all the other effects. Returning this item. Thumbs down for live performance. Sorry. May I suggest a volume boost of some sort, maybe like what Pro-co did to the Super Rat.!?

Comments about Electro-Harmonix Nano Big Muff Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal will punch you in the chest with the right settings. It rattles your bones. I'm surprised with the amount of distortion/fuzz this produces the sound is still clear, focused, and musical. I put it last on my pedal board. It takes an overdrive pedal behind it very well as a boost for extra sustain. Wah Wah, phaser and chorus effects work great behind it as well. I like phaser before distortion and it sounded great with the bigmuff.

My amp is a JCM 2000 TSL and I find the bigmuff works best with the clean channel.

Perfect for smashing pumpkins (cherub rock), weezer, any alt rock stuff you need that wall of fuzz tone. I tried the David Gilmour setting and it sings during long bending notes.

There are a lot of different tones you can get from dark thick fuzz, to brittle bright distortion. Great pedal and will fit on anyones board now.
