Like most EH pedals, the charm is in the fact that they kinda let the knobs go to further extremes than most effect pedals. This one doesn't disappoint! If you set up the shape knob in the 12 o'clock position it has a wondrful vintage amp trem sound. If you move that knob left or right things start to get WEIRD. It will pulse ahead or behind the beat depending on which way you turn it (yes, it swings). There is also a huge sweep on the rate knob. The faster settings do go into ringmod/flanger malfunction territory which can be very useful. then you can augment that further with the shape knob for very strange concotions of sick-a-tude (especially with the switch in square wave mode). Tough metal housing that makes EH great rounds out it's coolness. If you're looking for something that can do the traditional stuff and is capable of something a bit more loony then this is a great choice at a very good price.

When the pedal is on it does sound good. Real clean sound to it. But when you turn the pedal off it makes a clicking noise. If you turn the speed knob down low it goes away. If it was true bypass it would be a great pedal.

Wow.

Admittedly this box doesn't sound quite as nice as the trem on my '64 Vox, you can do a hell of a lot more with it. Definitely a worthy value.

You can even get ring mod sounds!!!

By Dirty Dave

from Yakima, WA

I love this pedal. I have owned two other tremolos and have never been happy. I played quite a few others in search of this one. This pedal has three big Electro Harmonix knobs that are great for tweaking with your foot while still playing your guitar. You can get traditional tremolo out of this but that is not all. When you turn the depth and rate all the way up you get an almost ring modulator type sound. Unlike a lot of tremolos on the market, including BOSS, when engaged this pedal will not cut your volume at all. I was so happy when I tried this because I was tired of losing signal when I turned on my tremolo.

A Great Trem Effect

I was given a Pulsar for my birthday and I love it. My friend has one of those old Fender Blackface amps and the Pulsar recreates the trem effect from it perfectly. It also has an abundance of new sounds too.

Excellent and versatile

By The Corinthian

This is a really excellent modulation pedal. The only problem I've ever had is that it may well be too deep a pedal, it can give you anything from a deep vintage sounding growl to a slow wave. It can even make your guitar or bass sound like a B3 organ!

What a vintage tremolo sound!!!!

By Joshua ariz

from toronto, Ont

This peddle totally changed the sound of my rhodes stage piano making it into a vintage suitcase model sound. All my band members were commenting on how great the pulsar made my parts sound. It's very simple to use and has different types of tremolo cuts which could be use by the flick of a switch and turn of a knob. It's worth it buy it!

Best Trem aorund

By JLee-ATX94

I have been extrememly pleased with my pedal. I would definently recommend buying an AC adapter so you can leave it plugged in. This tremolo pedal sounds better than any pedal that I've come across so far. Easy to adjust it to how you want it to sound like and reliable.

Finally got THAT sound!

By Peter-lVVkm

from Washington DC

After trying many many tremolo pedals, including one's that cost very much more than the Pulsar, I am very happy to report that I finally managed to get THAT sound: the one that's just like my old and dearly departed '60's tube monster amp. I have no reservations in unconditionally recommending this tremolo. The only possible drawback is that you'll find so many great sounds, and have so much fun, that you'll do nothing but experiment with it for hours on end - as I did.
