I added this to my rig to get those MuTron sounds that Garcia used in songs like Fire on the Mountain, Estimated Prophet, Dancin', and others, and it sounds great. It's extremely versatile and can produce a wide range of sounds with minor knob and switch tweaking. As with other EH pedals, its size and fragile casing are a drawback. Also, this thing puts out a very hot signal, so you may have to do some knob turning on your amp. Overall great pedal for the money.
This is my favorite effect. I have played all of the other envelope filters and auto-wahs out there, and nothing comes close. I have listened to the demos of the Q-Tron+ and the Mini, and I don't know why they would mess with perfection. This is the only pedal I own that I would have to replace immediately if anything happened to it. Hook it up with the memory man and you will be engrossed for hours.
This is the best Env. Filter I have used. Gives a very deep effect. I use it in a Grateful Dead type band and it sounds great. One problem is that it really only sounds good on the lowest tone setting, all the others sound too tinny. But, the controls are easy to figure out and their are many tones to choose from. A good value compared to the cost of a mutron.
