The huge sound of the original in a smaller stomp.

Little Big Muff puts this legendary distortion/sustainer in a more compact and rugged die-cast box, but the sound is true to the 1970 original--silky smooth violin-like sustain that lets you hold a note for an entire set. Sustain, Tone, and Volume knobs.

Order the Little Big Muff and experience the legendary Muff sound.

Don't let the word "Little" fool you; you're getting the same pedal as the Big Muff for less money and more space on your pedalboard. Now, I personally like playing this with tone and sustain cranked; I get great Jeff Beck/J Mascis/Mick Ronson tones. However, like many other reviewers have said, it's a fuzzbox, not a distortion pedal. If you're looking for versatility, this probably shouldn't be your only distortion/overdrive pedal. But still, if you like grunge or 60's garage or just good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll, the Little Big Muff is the pedal for you!

If your buying this because you are under the impression the only differences are size and price, dont. This pedal sounds smaller than a Big Muff and does not sound like something exploded when engaged like the real one does. I own several vintage and new Big Muff pedals and this one just doesnt sound right to me.I mean everyone has their own opinion, but in mine, spend the extra money and get one of the regular Big Muffs.

Great Pedal! Great sound. Endless sustain (went turned all the way up)
      Great controls to customize sound.
Volume nob works great even at very low volumes.
Well built, heavy duty, smaller then the Original Big M.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Little Big Muff PI Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

i run this behind a rocktron sonic glory, and man oh man, sounds sooo good. I keep it on a lower gain setting and get a nice smooth fuzz, then with the overdrive i brighten it up and add extra gain for a really killer distortion. Works well with my delay, get a huge fat wall of fuzz.

Gets your lead noticed. I used this for the first time out of the gate on slide guitar with a telecaster. I said right off this sounds like Sonny Landreth!Great little addition to the effects board.

        Garage rock classic

        By Geoff Battick

        from Maine, USA

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Little Big Muff PI Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Versatile as far as fuzz boxes go. Depending on what amp, pickups, and other pedals you use, you can get a great range of fuzzed out tones. ZZ Top to Howling Wolf's New Album to Hendrix to any old crappy garage band is in this box. I have a NYC Big Muff and this equals it in a smaller box which is a big plus if you've ever owned one of the original big guys.
Three knobs to lay with until you hit that sweet spot.
        These things nevr break.

        Not what I was expecting

        By John Walsh

        from Brooklyn, NY

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Little Big Muff PI Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Try it, maybe you'll like it, but I was dissapointed.
Is compact, sturdy and simple. Easy to use. Sort of big compared to boss/mxr pedals, but not super big.
I was expecting something much better seeing as I'm a huge fan of jack white and I love the sound he gets out of this. This pedal just isn't that loud. When I play with it live it gets drowned out by the drums and bass completely, and when cranked to high the signal breaks up to the point where you can't even make out the sound. I do think this pedal would sound great on recordings for some small background parts, but nothing to big. It doesn't take power chords well and if you shred too hard the signal will break up.
It's really cheap and being such a famous pedal I think everyone should try it at least once. But if you're looking for a serious fuzz that produces great tone find something else.

        Big on Little Big Muff

        By Bradley Tucker

        from California

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Little Big Muff PI Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

        Don't leave home without it!
This edition has a very strong case, and a 9-volt jack, in addition to the sought after tone it generates.
It is strong inside and out, and will take a beating.
You can buy cheeper distortion units, even cheep ones with separate bass, mid, and treble controls, but you will never get as much bottom end grind as you can with the Big Muff.

Works For Some, But Not For Everyone

        By Kyle London

        from Louisville, Kentucky

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Little Big Muff PI Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Overall, the Little Big Muff is complete rubbish. The only way this pedal works is for people who are trying to emulate the sounds of The White Stripes, The Black Keys, or Nirvana. Other than that this pedal does nothing. If you're looking for a strong distortion I'd suggest any of Boss' distortion pedals and if you're looking for a fuzz then look no further than the Zvex Fuzz Factory, nothing can beat it. Just save yourself some money and headache and skip over this poorly constructed pedal.
No features what so ever. You have no true control over anything, just volume, tone, and "sustain". The first two are simply what they say, but the true annoyance is the "sustain" adjustment. This is what everyone else would refer to as distortion and there really isn't any added sustain by cranking it up. With my model I also noticed that there was a certain point, about three-quarters turned up, where the sustain nob ceased to do anything. All it really did was increase feedback and nothing else. Very useless features.
I've had very bad experience with Electro-Harmonix in general and the Little Big Muff was no exception. Right out of the box everything was fine, as usual, but after around six months of use I began to notice a serious drain in my tone. I tried everything to help this problem, from checking wiring to changing batteries, nothing worked. Honestly, the tone died after only a few months of use. I wasn't too impressed to begin with, definitely not the awe-inspiring tones that users of the regular Muffs are famous for, but after the tone being dampened I was completely done.
As far as value, this pedal really has nothing special. It's an extremely minimalistic pedal with nothing over-the-top or even innovative. It's simply just a smaller Big Muff. As far as "value" goes this pedal simply is what is expected, nothing more or less.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Little Big Muff PI Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

It is just what I was looking for in the sound I was missing
I had to play with for a half hour to get the sound I wanted. I tried it first with an active J bass and it sucked, then I tried my passive P bass and it was 100% better.
solid as a rock- metal box so you know it's not going to break easy
It's a good buy to do fuzz and thats what I got it for

        Classic Fuzz plus

        By Love360

        from Chicago

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Little Big Muff PI Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I don't carry many pedals and am pretty choosy. Pretty much why I went with the Electro Harmonix Little Big Muff. It seems to be an overdrive, fuzz and compressor in one pedal. It seems also to replace any tone it might need to process and hands it back along with the effect. I think a lot careful listening went into the electronic design choices. I play a Telecaster and can dial in anything from a sharp 1st album Jimmy Page or Hendrix sound if I utilize a wah along with it and back off the level, to a soaring David Gilmour lead pretty much straight, to a fat woman tone off Iron Butterfly with tone turned low. My 2nd choice would be the Ibanez Tube Screamer but the little Big Muff is more versatile.

        Run For Your Life

        By ianmoptop

        from Edmonds, WA

Comments about Electro-Harmonix XO Little Big Muff PI Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This little metal rectangle will turn your guitar into a raging, ferocious, fire-breathing dragon. I run this with a strat, a hot rod deluxe, and a ts-9, substituting these two pedals for the amp's two gain stages. Riffs sound like a huge rhinocerous running right at you and screaming obscenities, in the best sense of the phrase. Sometimes it has too much "velcro" squack for when you want a solo to soar, but for spazzy freak-out runs and plain meanness, the little big muff has your back!
