Comments about Engl GigMaster 315 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

It's a fairly simple 2 channel 15-watt head with extreme versatility. As expected, there is not a lot of clean headroom, and that's fine with me. The amp excels when the input gain and the master are turned up overdriving the clean channel. Superior note definition with drive and character with single coils, HB's or P90's. Great for the hard country and blues that I play in my band. The lead channel is over-the-top drive, but not necessarily in the heavy metal catagory. Everything I want is in the clean channel. Plenty loud with my 2x12 cab in live situations. There is a general misunderstanding about Engl amps in that the impression is that they are only usable for hard rock. Look at the website of their "notable users" and you'll see what I mean. The Gigmaster can do so much more though. Great choice for tone, quality and flexibility for all kinds of music.

    Gigmaster stopped working...

    By fredp322

Comments about Engl GigMaster 315 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I sold a Mesa Trans Atlantic to pay for this amp due to the inclusion of an effects loop on the Engl. I played it for hours at home and even on a gig, so, I thought "cool little amp". The clean channel leaves a bit to be desired IMO, but, the lead channel rocked hard and heavy. I had no problem playing metal with it. However, on the second gig I played with it, the amp just stopped making sound. We were sound-checking, I nudged the master up a hair and it just quit. No pops or smoke and the power remained on, just no sound. I am quite the believer in low-wattage amps, but, I wish I still had my Mesa TA-15.

    Perfect for most

Comments about Engl GigMaster 315 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I just recently purchased this amp and it is a fantastic little gigging amp for most styles. However if you are looking for over the top gain for heavy metal you do not want this amp. Blues, rock, country, even grunge can all be pulled off with this little guy. The mid-boost really lets solos come through the mix.
