Comments about Engl Invader 100 E 642 Tube Guitar Amp Head:
This amp is IMHO everything the 5150/6505 amps should have been. This amp has the same controls as a 6505+ but adds 2 more channels and a 2 modes per for the equivalent of 8 different sounds. Its very flexible and it really is a master of all trades. Many high gain amps make a sacrifice in some area (cleans) to provide the pain of the high gain channel. Not the invader. If your thinking of a sound this amp can deliver it. You want mids? you got them. You want to scoop them out? they are gone. And every turn of a dial yields a usable tone. There is no filler here folks.

The invader 100 to me is the amp to end all amps. The first tome i cranked it, we were all in shock. how did it possible sound that good? it was even better than the sound in my head!! The 4 channel setup is amazing. don't let anyone tell you that's too much. with the Z-12, i used all four channels in a jam the other day and it works flawlessly. switching is amazing. i never had channel switching with my Marshall's. it really cuts through the mix well too! bottom line: this amp is well worth the money and you will be satisfied.

I've been through so many amps I'm running out of amps I would consider buying. The Invader 100 is one I've had my eye on for a long time.. I've owned a Steve Morse Engl amp previously and liked the tone but with that amp there was a level of gain I could not dial out. I heard that the Savage, Blackmore and Invader amps had a more versitile gain structure.. Well. This amp is darn near perfect! with 4 channels of different voicings, high and low gain settings and a bright switch for channels 1 and 2 and the same switch being an upper mid punch for channels 3 and 4 .. it covers everything from gooey clean to country clean to plexi overdrive to actually fairly high gain all just on channel 1! channel 2 and 3 seem to be everyones favorites and with those two channels you can absolutely cover all gain needs.. from 70's and 80's gain.. ( takes overdrives great!) to the deepest death metal with the uber low end of channel 3. then you still have channel 4 which is voiced for leads .. it is mid-range heavy and is my least favorite but it is still an excellent versitile channel. This one amp really is all I could ever need. BTW, you know that deep grinding, swirl distortion tones you hear when pro's let big power chords sustain? Well, this amp does that in spades.. finally I found something that lets me get tones that I hear by some of my favorite bands. Highly recommended amp. My only down sides for this is that Engl seems to be somewhat noisier than most high gain amps. The Noise gate supplied is a very heavy gate and I don't like it at all. My solution was to buy a ISP Technologies Decimator G Pro Rack which is also a fantastic piece of gear. As far as looks go which I'm not afraid to admit matters a great deal to me cause I love tube amps and I will stare at this amp .. black and chrome with blue leds behind the power tubes and plenty of leds on front. WAY happy with this amp and I feel worth the extra beans.

I've been eyeing this amp for a while now, and I finally got to try one out at a local store, and WOW, this amp is my sound. I'll get a ton of use out of the Channel 3 alone. Our band plays Prog/Metal (inspired by TOOL, but with many more influences as well) so we tend to have a heavy grind to our sound, but we also have instances where we need a bit more, or less, and with all the options this amp has, it'll be no problem. Like i said though, Channel 3 is going to be the core of my sound. Very throaty, and even cleans up nice with a volume pedal.
Comments about Engl Invader 100 E 642 Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I purchased an invader sight unseen based on the feedback of others. I have to say I'm not at all dissapointed. The variation of sounds you can get from the 4 channels is dynamic. Cleans are clear and bright and the distortion sounds on channels 2 and 3 easily cover classic rock all the way up to modern metal. Add in 2 effects loops, midi capabilities, a built in noise gate and some ultra cool ambient lighting and you have one mean package.
