Possibly the greatest tube amp ever!

Comments about Engl Invader 2 100W Tube Guitar Head:

Absolutely love this amp! This is by far the most versatile amp I've ever owned and it looks awesome too! I love the blue LEDs that light up the tubes when you turn it on and the knobs and switches are all excellent quality. This amp works well for any style from blues all the way to dropped tune metal! My only complaints are that the noise gate isn't the best so if you plan on using a lot of gain I would purchase a noisegate pedal. Also Musicians Friend said that a footswitch would be included but apparently it isn't and was an error on the page. Just a heads up! I recommend this amp to anyone looking for a multi channel amp that can handle many different styles and can afford this.

Comments about Engl Invader 2 100W Tube Guitar Head:

I had previously played the older ENGL Invader at a music store and knew how good it sound. I bought the Invader 2 assuming it could only get better. Both versions are extremely versatile and have loads of features that are useful. I will always be an ENGL player!

Comments about Engl Invader 2 100W Tube Guitar Head:

I wanted a High End, High Gain amp to go with my Friedman BE100 and have been trying everything imaginable. Diezel, EVH, Mesa, Revv, Marshall etc. I replaced a H&K Tri-Amp MKIII with this and this Invader II really hits what I was looking for. I also picked up a Sound Wizard Module and it adds a lot of variety and enhanced tones but this review is without the Module.. just the standard features. The amp is very, very tight and the high gain channels are really full and I really appreciate that the gain doesn't have annoying overtones.. Cleans are a cut above and channel 2 in high gain is very M like. As a matter of fact it reminds me of a M 6100LM I had ... lots of chirp in the notes. I could go on and on since there are so many features. I've had the fireball, Invader I, Steve Morse in years prior but this is my favorite Engl amp by far.. so decided to write a few comments.. great amp! Doesn't come with a foot switch though.

Comments about Engl Invader 2 100W Tube Guitar Head:

Okay, I recently ordered a handful of Engl's and this was one of them. I tried this amp out at home with the E-16 Sound Wizard, which costs an additional amount of cash. First off, all channels without the E-16 Sound Wizard just sound lifeless, soulless, and bla. With the E-16 Sound Wizard the clean channel sounds great! The second channel is just barely okay. The third channel, well, nothing could make this channel sound good. What a mish mash of frequencies that could not come together to make good, smooth quality tone. The fourth channel is suppose to be hot rodded Marshall tone. Again, just lifeless without the E-16 Sound Wizard. It get's tighter, fuller, and more sparkle with the Sound Wizard, but I found it to sound too buzzy. And I did not like the feel of this channel either. Also, keep in mind that the rocker switches on the E-16 Sound Wizard do not go up and down, but go on and off. And, it takes your pinky finger nail to do so. With the cost and features of this package, it should had been the guitar rig to end all multi-channel guitar rigs.....Not even close. I wanted to like it so much, I even tried convincing myself it was good...But, reality set in and I couldn't wait to return it the next day. I since got the Diamond Hammersmith amp head. It has no bells and whistles, and I like it better than this Invader ll package.
