Designed by a guitar legend to deliver screaming sustain and versatile midrange EQ.
The Engl Steve Morse Signature Amp Head features a 3-channel amp concept including a 100W EL 34 power amp section. Channel One can also deliver sparkling clean sounds to support Steve's awesome finger picking technique, but be aware: Channel One can also deliver fat crunch sounds, since it has more gain than you would expect from a standard clean Channel. Channel Two features pure rock sound, designed to respond fast. Well dressed midrange and gain structures will let you cut through any mix. Channel Three gives you the most intense sounds you might have heard so far.
The new ENGL MID CONTROL MATRIX was perfectly designed to give a maximum of midrange control options. Four midrange controls that interact with each other plus a tone switch that can be used in conjunction with the controls give the player 8 different midrange sounds to choose from. The overall Hi / Lo gain switch allows the 3 channels to be played in two different gain modes which will support 6 available gain structures at a glance. Combined with the amp features that made ENGL an industry standard, like MIDI Control, integrated Noise Gate, 2 FX Loops, Tube Protection and outstanding German craftsmanship, the Steve Morse Signature amp will be the perfect sound machine for dedicated guitarists and tone gurus—just like Steve Morse.

Comments about Engl Steve Morse Signature 100 E 656 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head:
I have had this a few months and bought the engl Z12 midi foot switch to maximize usability.
First off, this is pro quality and built for the gigging musician. You can achieve any tone magnificently.
Second, you need the midi footswitch. The engl midi switches are wicked expensive. But without them you are only touching the surface of what you can achieve. With them you can build in over 100 presets of your favorite tones. Remember, this amp can go from crystal clear to bluesy crunch to British hi gain to modern American hi gain to modern metal no problem. Any tone-- jazz rock, blues, country, metal....anything. But you need the footswitch to take advantage of what this amp can do which is everything flawlessly.
The tones are world class. I am using about 15 presets now. It takes about 1 to 2 hours dedicated time to figure out the basics of this amp. Once you do you have a canvass to paint any sound you want. The midi save feature is easy.
The noise gate is a great feature. There are many tools built in to shape and refine your tones.
This amp offers endless gain. You can go over the top.
Bottom line, great pro grade amp. Not plug and play but easy to figure out in 2 hours or less. World class tonality at your disposal. You will need to buy the midi footswitch. I bought the Z12 for simplicity reasons but other options available. A truly magnificent amp worth the high price if you are a pro or in a gigging band.
Highly recommended. Only amp you will ever need and built like a German tank.
