Loaded with the style and sound that defines Victor Smolski's playing!
Victor Smolski is a guitarist who takes modern guitar playing to another level, whose skills set up new standards in technique, tone, and attitude. And now there is an amp that features his style and helps him develop his music, the ENGL Victor Smolski LTD E646 tube amp head.
With a unique and remarkable design and awesome signature sounds wrapped in snakeskin, the Victor Smolski Ltd E646 amp has 100 watts of 6L6 power trapped behind hand-soldered iron chains. It's adjusted and dialed in for the modern metal guitar player. Four channels of pure tube attack and power deliver the widest modern range of tones you could expect from an amplifier.
The E646 provides the fastest attack, punchiest rhythm, breathtaking lead lines and the most modern clean sounds available. It also bears the smooth, sonic transition of well-selected channel layouts including an adjustable Mid Boost switch to create modern rock tones from sustained, shining cleans to a vintage -vibe crunch sound. The S.A.C. switching control gives you easy access to all available sounds.

Comments about Engl Victor Smolski Ltd. E646 100W Tube Guitar Amp Head (Black):
This head truly is all I'm looking for in an amp head. It can do it all from pristine cleans to the heaviest of gain, and everything in between. I have owned it for a year now and have experimented with it till the ends of the earth.
The first thing to note is, with the stock tubes it is very compressed and HI-FI sounding. Should you not like it out of the box, just swap all the tubes out. I have a full compliment of Tung-Sol's in mine and it rips. Don't be afraid to try 12AT7's or ECC803's in the gain stages instead of 12AX7's. With the right combo of tubes, this will probably be the only head you will ever need.
This head pairs very well with V30 loaded cabs, specifically Framus and Orange cabs. Sounds great at high volumes, and sounds fairly good at low volumes. This head is very saturated and will not get dry Mesa Rectifier tones. It possesses the signature Engl midrange growl.
Clean: amazing, very pristine. Sounds great with delay and reverb.
Crunch: just a very solid overdrive and doesn't get fizzy.
Lead 1: This channel is where I spend 75% of my time. It has insane amounts of gain but retains clarity even with loads of gain.
Lead 2: Virtually identical to Lead 1 with a different gain control.
With the Z-9 footswitch, you can program the Mid-Boost as well as the effects loop and Master Volume 2. The effects loop takes effects very well and the built in noise gate is plenty for most people.
The Mid-Boost is the hidden gem in this amp, if you're worried about it getting lost in the mix, don't be afraid to set this to 10. Click it on and it will really open the amp up and let it breathe.
I have used this head at metal shows as well as in my church worship band. It handles tunings as low as Drop G (Probably lower, I just don't have any guitar to test that theory).
Bottom line, I would recommend this to a friend, and I have. They all loved it just as much as I did. This head is contagious, once you play one, nothing else quite fills the void.
