Wow. I bought this thing about two months ago, and I love it. First thing is that it's WAY bigger than you think. At least twice, I've been asked if it was a 2x12 by sound guys. It's really freaking heavy... really heavy. It can battle against a drumset, a comparible bass amp, and a Marshall halfstack at practice with the volume at about 4 or 5 (which is good, because the 4x12 Marshall was at 3 when I was at 4 or 5). It's a cool looking amp with good effects-- chorus, delay, flanger and reverb. The reverb is independant of the other effects (it's on a seperate knob that is on no matter which channel you're on). The distortion is kind of crappy, and it doesn't come with a footswitch (sold seperately). Those are my compliants (and why the features gets a 5). The Tolex is a deeper color than the picture. Basicly, it's big, it's loud, and it's everything you need. Surprisingly good tone. Sounds tube, but as reliable as a solid state. Plus, it has a line out and a speaker out in case you need to record, hook into a system, or get a bigger cab. I plan on getting the Triggerman cab and making a combo-stack (like MxPx). On top of all of that, you get the benifits of a really cool looking, unique amp.

Altho a quite good buy for the beginer, the tone and frequencies carried in it were very unsettled. The EQ pots for variable treble/mid/bass were absolutely dead as to effect! This Amp seemed to be locked into solid state limbo, with no quality tones anywhere that I could wring out of it. I have some high-end Strats and Teles, which on my Marshall or Vox are heaven on earth. I may be disappointed in what I was expecting, but its just not there with any style guitar.....As to cosmetic looks and construction quality.....ITS FIRST RATE!!!!Its a BIG amp and has the volume to tear it up in any venue. As to the effects, very poor overall, but I only compare this in the clean mode. If you want an overdrive comparison, then this review won't help you. I don't play there. But I do KNOW without quality of tone in the clean channel, you won't have control over anything, including overdrive. For the money, and getting a big amp, this will do....Just not on my dime!!! Damn, it looks good tho!

What else could I buy for that money???

By The Searcher

from Sydney

Apart from this amp being a great piece of furniture that is always welcome to look at, it is great value. Distortion channel is quite OK but I might get a pedal further down the track. The clean channel is very nice. My electric w/two humbuckers sounded best with main volume up high and controling level with the channel vol and backing off on the bass knob. I plugged my acoustic with ceramic pick-up in, to hear all the colours, and was spectacularly surprised. A proper arch-top like a Casino would sing beatifully on this amp. Effects are not overpowering, which is good. The headphones, which make this a great practice amp as well as a powerful performing amp, deliver a very clear, full & satisfting sound. Even though this amp has a handle at the top, I might add a pair of sunken side handles to this unit later on to make it a breeze to lift it up high when needed. I'll have this unit for a long time and I have no regrets.

I bought it about 3 months ago and it is amazing! It sounds like a tube amp and the DSP is great. The clean chanel is clear even when I turn it up to max volume. Overall a great value!

I was actually shocked when I heard this amp. I actually had a Behringer GMX212 for 2 weeks before trading it for the EPI 60w 1x12. The clean on this sounds just like a tube, and it's SS. Instead of playing it I listened for the first time in my life. The guys at the music store had 6 amps setup for me; Randalls, Marshalls, and so on. We used the same guitar with each amp including acoustic, and the EPI was the only one that could handle either guitar without actually screwing up the true sound of the guitar. As far as the built in FX go they arent the greatest, thtas why I have pedals. But thats with any amp. I only use the clean channel and hook my pedals up to it. I hate lugging stacks around. It has plenty of power. I play a Strat, Takamine, and Les Paul and they sound killer through it.

1st off, this thing looks even better in person. Its got alot of ranges to play with.Great totnes and I am extremely happy with it.You get good clean and good crunch. Not Megadeth type but if your into Clapton/Page/Beck etc. Youll love it.Of course if you need super distortion you couls add a pedal, but I think it would be a bit overkill.Great Jazz tones as well as country twang.VERY well built.Price is bar-none the best quality value out there.Buy it and dont look back. Its pretty friggin loud too!!

helluva amp

By wacker

picked this amp out for christmas and selected it over a crate 2-12 combo and let me tell u im glad i did! i play an epiphone les paul and this amp does it alot of justice. although, last night i installed gibson dirty finger pick ups in my LP and was playing it for about 40 minutes at half volume when my speaker blew! it may just be the high output of the pick up but i guess we'll see when i take it in on warranty today! only real complaint is the weak built in distortion, but a boss ds-1 will help that out... that what i do!

Remarkable Value

By Rick650Player

from Ypsilanti, MI

Just got the amp three days ago. I've put it through most of its paces, and I am extremely pleased. As others have commented, the clean tone (channel 2) is wonderful! The high gain channel isn't as bad as some would lead you to believe. The overdrive is very usable. If it is not to your liking, then of course you can overcome it with the addition of your own outboard effects. The DSP effects are not all that great, but they do what they are supposed to acceptably. Again, this problem is easily overcome by using your own pedals. For those wanting to find an A/B switch (to change channels and to switch the DSPs on and off), the Boss FS-6 works very well. I've played a Rickenbacker 650, a Fender Tele, an Ibanez Talman (TC-220) and an Alvarez PF-90SC through it so far, and they all sound great. Just barely less expressive than a tube...Overall, a TREMENDOUS value! For this price, it really can't be beat.

Epiphone Triggerman 60 DSP

By MrPillbug

from Rocklin, CA

This thing is pretty good.I bought it because I needed something that was loud enough for small school jazz gigs. The clean channel, especially the bass response, is pretty darn good. Gain channel is very bright, so it is difficult to get some heavier metal/alternative sounds without distortion or amp simulator. Effects are very clear and sound good, but have no number to index them on the dial, so you just need to experiment. Having an aux in on the back is nice; you can plug in anything with a headphone jack if you have a 1/4 inch adapter. When mine came, the speaker connection on the back was messed up. Most of the time it played fine, but it would chop out every once in a while, so i had to get a new wire and sauter it on. Now it works great.

Oh my god!!!! I love this amp. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and the tone is incredible. The DSP-effects are way better than the Roland Cube crap I tried before, if you know what I mean.. I very much so recommend this amp for everyone who want's to play: Country, Blues, Rock'N'Roll, Rockabilly, even Hard Rock.

Ask me a question

Ordered and received this Amp last week and I am very pleased with my purchase. As others have said the picture does not do the amp justice this is one big bad boy of an Amp. Love the looks the features but wish it had come with the two button switch which is used to change channels and turn the DSP feature off and on. The sounds this amp produces is exceptional and my fellow band mates were surprised as well as to how good it sounded. Get ya one you can't go wrong with this one for the price its a great value!
