Comments about Fargen Amps FJLA1 John Lennon Limited Edition Artist 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo:
As a HUGE John Lennon fan, when I saw this amp featured in Guitar Player Magazine, it was an immediate "gotta have it" moment and that was just based on the limited production run of each model,(only 11 of each),and the strong reputation of legendary amp-master Benjamin Fargen and his team. I knew this was going to be a gem...and I was 100% right.
Let me tell you, the pictures don't do it justice. This is a beautifully crafted, well built, very limited in number, high quality amp.
To me, it is a genuine piece of art, like a Worhol painting, not only to be diplayed properly, but also to be used and enjoyed in that way as well.
The amp has two settings, "Liverpool" and "Plastic Ono Band" tones. When I first plugged my PRS Custom 24 into the amp and turned it on, I immediatly felt the spirit of Lennon himself come to life. When I hit the first notes of Love Me Do, Eight Days a Week, and a couple of others, I was feeling very Lennon-esque what with the authentic tones which were eminating from the amp.
Next, I flipped the switch to "POB" mode, and I was immediately transported to Live Peace In Toronto 1969. After a rousing version of Money and a go at Cold Turkey, forget it....I was at one with the music and genius of John Lennon.....and it was the authentic tones which formed the basis of this musical experience.
I could ramble on about how well it's put together, about the high quality materials used to assemble each individual component contained in the amp right down to the high-performance power cord, and the "built like a tank" transport case which is available for it, as well as a lot of technical jargon you may or may not fully understand, especially the novices...but the fact is, if you're looking for something VERY SPECIAL, VERY LIMITED (ie: should rise in value over the years), and GREAT SOUNDING, then this Lennon estate licensed authorized release is for you.
Oh...did I mention the personalized service I got from Mr. Fargen himself? Yes....he called me to follow up on my purchase and to ensure I was completely satisfied with the amp in all aspects...and I was pleased to tell him, "I indeed was".
My advice would be to get one before they sell out
and you're forced to obtain one on the secondary market. Enjoy and rock on.
