    Tone CHAMP

    By DJANGO MANGO

    from HAWAII

Comments about Fender 57 Champ Custom 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Overall this amp will give the owner a great recording amp as well as an amp to play small venues
and the ultimate bedroom, low volume, practise amp. I like using it with a small solid state accoustic
amp [with delay/echo] and a A/B box. I split my electric guitar signal into the two amps and get a
beatiful clean tone. The solid state amps fills in frequensies that the tube amp is lacking and vice-
versa. The sonic imaging between the two amps is sweet. Adding a good reverb pedal to the CHAMP
warms and opens the sound even more and the Champ takes a pedal well, yet is great on its own.
Choose your sound. With as simple as this amp is it is also versatile. The above rig is also a dream
to haul !! The Champ is under 20 lbs and my solid state amp is 24 lbs. With the two of them I can
play restaurants and other small venues with a great tone and more than enough volume.
If you want a small tube amp with a clean sound at least consider the 57 CHAMP.
The features on this amp are all like the vintage original. You get one volume knob and the tone is
so good that is all you need. You have 2 inputs so that both humbuckers and single coils sound great. Hand wired, wood constuction, tweed covering all classic. If you want clean tone this little
    amp has it nailed.
The quality of this amp is top notch. There is no need for modification, upgrades or tweek repairs.
It is solid out of the box and delivers what it claims; clean, warm , classic tone ! The tweed covering
is sweet and done right. Inside and out this amp is the real thing.
The originals of this amp are going for a lot. All in less than perfect shape. If you get a good one they sound great, but at 2 or more times the cost, no warranty, and a risky buy via the net. The
57 Champ new sounds just as good as the vintage ones. I don't expect mine to ever need any service. I have had it for over a year and with the gentle touch that tube amps require I suspect the only thing I will need is a tube swap when they run their course. Unless you are a "collector" I see no reason to spend twice as much or more for a worn out vintage model.

    Rattle, Rattle, Rattle

    By Brian Shaw

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Fender 57 Champ Custom 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

My #1 musical disappointment in 2011 was this purchase. If the amp chassis did not rattle like crazy - it'd be a sweet combo. Shocked this made it through Fender QA
I was SO EXCITED to receive this amp, right until I turned it on and started to play. I cannot express how shocked I was at the amount of chassis rattle. Perhaps I received a bad unit. This was my first Fender custom shop purchase, and had assumed each unit was play tested since they are hand wired.

Anyway, really wanted to keep this one - but the chasis rattle is way too harsh harsh harsh.
The consensus in the community seems to be these are a bit overpriced given the component costs. Yes, the hand wiring counts for something - but not when your amp is unplayable due to chassis rattle.

    57 Champ, THE CHAMP

    By DJANGO MANGO

    from HAWAII

Comments about Fender 57 Champ Custom 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Wow! Tone Heavem. If you can spend this on a little amp go for it. Solid pine makes a difference. Hand wired, very good speaket and that tweed vibe. Great articulation, touch sensitivity, and sustain. "Clean" at it's best.

    oldschool blues machine

    By Serban Dragosloveanu

    from Bucharest

Comments about Fender 57 Champ Custom 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

let me tell you that i`m a hobbyist from romania and i own a fender custom shop vibroverb,a 70`s hand wired champ,an all tube marshall and a all tube gretsch among my amps.i received this two days ago.it is marvelous.what a sound!you don`t need pedals, reverbs, nothing,it is old school blues tone.pure sound.it`s simple,no extra knobs,i set it at 5 1/2 and leave it and use the guitar controls.the clean is not as clean as the vibro, but it has a mellow characteristic.for home use is loud,as all tube amps, but then again not many are blessed to here this sound in my country.:)so buy it,you won`t need another amp.tried it with a SRV strat and a Gibson Custom 57 with out oh phase WCR pickups.it can play only blues.period.throw a fuzz face in front and you will get a nice red house tone.

    Stellar tone

    By Angnar

    from Kansas City

Comments about Fender 57 Champ Custom 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is an absolute beauty and a testimony to strength through simplicity. I played it for a few hours the night after it arrived, and I couldn't stopped. I am stunned by the depth of tone the Champ offers. I monkeyed around with a 72 Telecaster Custom Reissue and a Rickenbacker 620. Clean, the amp just sings, and the sweet, tonal richness brought tears to my eyes. Such sustain and harmonic depth. Push it harder, and a nice dirty overdrive rings through, full of grit. I also have a Fender Twin Reverb Reissue, which sings in its own way, but this amp may soon become my favorite. Bonus points for not needing to push it to ear-bleeding volume to reach overdrive territory. I was initially skeptical of the price tag for a low wattage amp, but the tone more than justifies it. Maybe not for everyone, but definitely for me. It's the most musical amp I've ever played. The only drawback functionally is that I think a standby switch would have been nice, but not essential. Maybe this tone would've proven impossible with such a thing in place.

SIMPLICITY AT IT'S BEST - WORTH EVERY PENNY.

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Fender 57 Champ Custom 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I don't even want to hear anyone say "1k for a practice amp no way",because if you have never played through one of these you would never say that and you don't know what the hell you're talking about. This amp blows EVERYTHING out of the water except for a 57 twin or 57 deluxe. Hand wired heaven, it's no wonder these amps were used in some of the greatest recordings ever made. This amp is a PURE TONE MONSTER and it's worth EVERY PENNY. Hats off to Fender for bringing back the best low watt amp ever created.

    Sweet Little Amp!

    By FenderDude--TMQH

    from Panama City Florida

Comments about Fender 57 Champ Custom 5W 1x8 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

The Fender 57 Champ Custom is an awesome amp. I use it for recording, practice and small gigs, though it could be used for larger gigs if it was mic'd. I play a 62 American Vintage Strat and Champ's tone is unbelievable. I usually turn the volume up all the way to 12 and let this baby wail. Roll back on the guitar volume and she cleans up real nice. It nails that Keith Richards, Derek and the Dominoes-sound down to a T.Features are simple with only one Volume control and an on-off switch, wish is all that's needed to get a great sound. Small and lightweight, but built very solid. The Ted Weber speaker sounds sounds awesome in this thing!Sweet Little Amp!
