I been using this amp for a month. The best part is, I am playing more! I am taking this thing everywhere! I read the reviews here first, and decided to go ahead and and get the Fender Mini Twin. The tone from the really small speakers is usable. As others have stated, not a lot of volume on clean tone, however, just cracking open the overdrive, boost the volume, and sounds good and pretty clean to me. I found the 9V battery is fairly short lived, maybe 6 hours before the sound degrades badly through the speakers. With headphones, the sound is very good, and seems to have longer battery time. Headphones have plenty of volume, very good tone adjustment, much better then the speakers put out, cant expect much from 2-2" speakers. I would suggest obtaining an AC adapter to use when possible. I like to use this little amp when working on vocals, has the right volume for that, and not bothering others in the house. I took the time to write this, because I think its a useful tool, and, well, a pretty neat toy.

I called to purchase a Roland battery operated Cube. The operator at Musicians Friend talked me into this amp instead. Shame on me for not researching this unit more thoroughly. Volume is almost nonexistent with distortion turned to 0. I don't want any distortion, so this amp is not for me. Also, there is still some distortion with 'drive' turned down all the way. Lousy sound. Lousy volume. I now own the Roland that I had originally wanted to purchase.

Comments about Fender '57 Mini Twin Amp:

I bought two of these little guys for my sons. Being a gearhead, I naturally had to check it out as soon as they arrived. I am partial to Fender, I have an American Strat and a Twin Reverb, but all of that aside--cool little amps. They are a little (just a little) weak clean, but you can dial up some pretty warm, sustained tones by meddling with the tone and distortion knobs. I feel cheated, this little amp sounds WAY better than my awful 8" Crate practice amp that I had as a kid and it's tiny. They did a great job and easily could have charged twice as much for it. A great little amp for beginners (I'm talking to you parents) because it sounds good, it doesn't get obnoxiously loud, and it's inexpensive. I may get one for myself actually...

Comments about Fender '57 Mini Twin Amp:

What were the "sounds horrible" negative reviewers expecting for this price? This thing sounds exactly like what it is: a battery powered, one watt solid-state Fender amplifier with two 2" speakers. That said, it works great. Sure, the distortion itself is little more than bad fuzz, but, if you turn the 'tone' knob all the way down, it cuts the harshness and this thing almost sounds like an amp! And it gets louder than you expect! Quiet clean sounds with the master volume all the way up, and distortion on 0, are certainly decent for what it is, and rather enjoyable. But there's no headroom, so turn your guitar's volume down a bit to stay clean. And don't bother trying to dial in "light" distortion; any light breakup mixed with clean tone just sounds like harsh clipping. Full distortion is basically fuzz, but like I said, with the 'tone' on zero it's a halfway decent, smooth-ish fuzz! Fun, cheap, good for display, and a real leather carrying handle on real tweed cab! Nice!

Love the look of this little guy. Sound is just OK, but wasn't expecting much from a tiny 1W amp that runs off a 9-volt. I also have a Marshall Micro, and think this sounds slightly better. Build quality impressive for such a small and cheap amp. Bottom line: Won't make you sell off your other amps, but it's cool and fun.

Comments about Fender '57 Mini Twin Amp:

If you receive one of these and there is a rattle, do not attempt to repair yourself. This is an "assemble as you build" unit; it cannot be repaired (as many of the other mini's can be). The speakers are held in place by small screws that easily strip out, and will not survive USPS. Very disappointing, as it is such a cool looking amp otherwise.
