I purchased this amp thinking that Fender products were the best, I was wrong. The amp fried after 1.5 hrs of playing time in church with the volumn on 2. The repair technician called Fender, their response was, We have a design problem and have not fixed that problem. Every Fender Bassman 200 amp will have this same problem until this amp is redesigned. Fender has not sent out a service bullentin to fix the problem. Transistor 10 & 11 are mounted too close together therefore causing a poping and cracking noise with no instrument cable plugged in. The repair technician ordered parts elsewhere then moved the mounting of the transistors. Now the amp works fine.
This amp is a dream come true for me. Not only am I able to play various types and styles of music, I can rock small venues with mellow "low tones" without increasing the volume above the other instruments. The "Room Balance" feature is my favorite. This amp makes any bass guitar sound good.
Trash! Had mine two years and has been in the shop for repair about half the time. Zero customer support!
this has been a nice amp in the studio and for concerts. i use it for jazz, rock, sound tracks, anything. i have never had a problem with it. i use a fender bass man 115 cab with it at concerts. beautiful lows. i don't really like playing slap on it, but it doesn't really sound that bad on it, could be better, could be worse.
Has been a great work horse for small gigs and small auditoriuns. Power ok when playing with guitars & drums. I put mine on wheels so I could move it without having to carry it all the time. Is a little top heavy. All of the adjustment knobs on mine are bend due to being tipped over.I would buy another one.
I use this amp at school for jazz band, and I've seriously considered buying it, especially for this price. It gives me so many different options for styles of music. I've used this for bass-driven music, jazz, funk, nu metal, metal, rock, punk, it does everything. I love the treble sound I get out of it. It is real heavy (65 pounds I believe) but at least it has side handles. The only problem I had was when the treble knob bent and eventually tore off, but the warranty covered it. I'd recommend this amp to absolutely anyone for any style of music.
This is the first amp I have owned. The first amp I played was the 25 watt Crate I was renting when I first started lessons. Going from 25 to 200 watts is WOW! After playing along with drums, I can see why watts are important.I like the output for the tuner. All I have to do is hit the mute switch, tune the bass and un-mute the amp. It sure beats having to unplug the bass and plug into the tuner and then put it all back. This amp has great tone and sound rock solid.
Well, well, well. This is a decently priced amp for a decent power and a name that every bass player doesn't mind to see on stage with them. But I have had more than my fair share of problems with this bass amp. Within two months of getting the bass and using it around 3 times a week, it completely crashed on me. I can't remember what exactly went wrong with the insides, except that a fuse went out and a motor in the power amp was leaking. Once I got it back (after 8 months of waiting for it to be fixed), I finally got to put this thing to work. It has a good preamp that works well. It's simple, and gets the job done, but the enhance button definitely turns your bass into a Fender sound. But hey, that's probably part of the reason you're thinking about buying it, for that sound. so it's not that big of a deal. However, I wish that the preamp could be bypassed better. Even with the enhance button off it still maintains a bit of the Fender sound. All in all though, the sound is quality, and it can get loud enough to handle the gigs you're probably thinking about using it for. A couple features that this bass left me wanting is a footswitch for switching off the enhance button, and switching the mute on and off, and at times I wish it was louder. All in all, it's a good bass amp, with good features and the Fender sound. Despite my criticisms, this bass is a good one. It works (now), and has a good sound that I love.
For a good tone & maximum wattage without breaking your back this is a great amp. Very flexible.
