This amp has a great tone if you are playing very gently ... If you slap with any force or even play with any force it clips like crazy ... I am thinking of upgrading to the Bassman 350 , Does anybody know if that amp has the same issue ?

I have been gigging with this amp for a bit over a year now and it is still running strong. I have used it in most types of venues this side of a stadium and it has kept up with two guitar players and a sometimes overzealous drummer with no problem. I run a MXR m80 and a crybaby wah in my chain and it handles it fine. The MXR really helps add some warmth to my tone, but even without the pedal it sounds good. I think that my favorite thing about this amp is that it can do pretty much everything that I need. I can take it to the gig and get the thump and growl that I want and then take it home and hook up my Iphone to the back of it and practice with my favorite songs. I think that it is a really good intermediate amp that would make most people happy. There are a couple of problems that I have with it though first, if you are not careful you will get a high pitched clicking noise when you play with your fingers so you really have to dial down the highs and high mids on this one. The other thing is that the casters are not mounted very well and like some other people have said you will have to put better anchors in there to get them to stay put. That is not that big of a deal ten bucks at the hardware store and ten minutes of you time and you will be back in business. The other plus is this amp is easy to move and since gigging musicians only get paid for set up and tear down (we play for free and you know it) then the quicker I get done the more I get paid per hour and that is alright by me.

Well this amp for many years has been the best amp know well out there. This amp overrall is the best tone buster I ever seen but although I think that this amp is all about on what style you play. Play in a smooth style, it will sound better but play in a out of whack style and it will sound totally different. But Don;t get me wrong though last time when this system was lined out I heard funny sounds through the PA system....but who cares though what I could say is use the amp for style....not for diff geners!!!!!!!

This is a decent bass amp, but a couple of problems. Most important, at any given time, a very annoying static-like, crackling sound sets in. After doing some research, the solution is to turn the tweeter off (down to zero). And second, the casters are a really bad trip. The mounts tore loose from the bottom of the cabinet after very little time went by. I had to use anchors for the screws ... they could have done better on that one.
