OVERVIEW

The Blues Jr. pushed through a 12" Jensen speaker.

The Blues Jr. NOS takes Fender's 15W gem and gives it the true vintage treatment with tweed covering and a vintage-style 12" Jensen speaker. Its power is generated by an all-tube signal path using a pair of EL84 Groove Tube output tubes and 3 - 12AX7 preamp tubes. Add renowned Fender reverb, flexible controls, and footswitchable (with optional footswitch - product #420703) FAT circuit for golden tones, and you're in business. And just look at that chrome panel, that tweed finish with pinstripe grille cloth, and those vintage pointer knobs!

I had the Blues Deluxe for a year or so, but it was SO HEAVY. And I really never turned the volume up past "1." I would barely nudge the nob and it would get really loud. Then I would nudge it back and it would be silent.

So I traded in the "Deluxe" for the smaller "Junior" combo amp.

AND I LOVE IT! The volume is much more flexible for a jam session or for a small venue gig. It has the same, warm, glowing sound as the larger amp, it's just easer to carry and easier to adjust the sound for small room playing.

The ONLY thing I miss is how the "Deluxe" had a dedicated second channel for the tube distortion. The "Junior" does have a footswitch, but it just gives you more power/volume.

I'm 59, started at 7. It seems I've had a new amp every year. I know Fenders. I've been away from home. I got into Marshall combos thinking I was going smaller, but they still weigh a ton. My solution was to go back to the smallest amps that sound big. There's been lots of changes since I've been into Fender amps. The Hot Rod series has the right price for most people and just enough options to cover any application. I got the Jr to use while something else was on order. Once I heard the reverb I realized I'd been without a Fender for too long. My last was a super, nice of course, but it went toward a Marshall. Now that I know better I want that sound back again but without the weight. This series is the answer. I'm stuck on playing in stereo and two of any except the pro jr would work fine. Mine does have a problem though, I don't get the sustain I'd like --perhaps a remnant of using Marshall. Perhaps it's just tubes, which leads me to another idea. Why not 6V6 tubes. Look at the classic tone machines, all early Fender, many models, one primary power tube: the beautiful 6V6. I don't have much else. For the money the series is a great deal. They could sound better, but so could everything else. The simplicity is what this is about. Pick it up, back seat to the gig and done. No crew of five guys, no tech dialing in tone. In short, it's idiot proof. I'm using one. Seriously, not a Rockefeller, here's your amp. Sure it could be better, but she's a tube Fender with reverb -- that's all you really need to know.

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

Highly recommend to those who are looking for that classic Fender tube tone with a whole bunch of that classic Fender reverb. With the lacquered tweed finish, it looks classic and cool as well. Very straightforward, simple amp that looks great, sounds great, and is easy to tote from place to place.

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

Had both for years.I did an a/b with the tweed and tolex Blues Jr. I was sure the tweed is better. Wrong. So I sold it. Still a great amp, but you're not gonna set the world on fire with it. The tweed and tolex both go through tubes pretty regular, and I love them both, but I won't sell the tolex Blues Jr.

Disappointed - I used a Radial ABY switch and compared the Blues Jr. with a 65 Princeton Reverb reissue and the Jr. just didn't compare. We found it pleasant, but thin sounding and we felt the reverb was a bit weak.

I owned one of these years ago and wish I'd never gotten rid of it, Soooooo, I got another and am so glad I did. Love the tone, the lightweight, etc. I use it for ANY gig, either alone, for small rooms, or miked for larger clubs and outdoor festivals. I play mostly blues and some classic rock and you can't beat this amp for that.

I bought this amp to use with my National Reso Rocket. It has the Hot Plate installed. There is nothing about the amp that does not meet or exceed my high expectations. I have amps from Rivera, AER, Mesa, and Henricksen. I was dubious that an amp in this price range would meet my needs. It works just fine. I am completely satisfied with its sound and performance.

Comments about Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed 15W 1x12 Combo:

I am an amateur guitarist of 35 years. Not famous, or a performer, but know a good sound when I hear it. This amp doesn't need more praise, but let me pile on anyway. Got the tweed model with the jensen speaker, and it does everything you ask of it, beautifully, in a small, portable package. Looks great too, by the way, if that's important to you. Has just as much tonal quality as my Fender Twin, but SOOOO much easier to carry, and my wife even lets me keep it in our living room, as it actually looks like a nice vintage addition to the decor. (huge bonus) Its no-frills, but you can add all the pedal effects you want. This just delivers the cleanest tone you could ask for, and will drive nicely when pushed. the reverb is good, not excellent, but again, you can add pedals if its not to your liking. I plug an American Tele straight into the blues jr, and love the tone that comes out of that simple combo. If you want an awesome tube sound, but the trouble of a 50-80 pound monster, get this amp. You won't be disappointed!

I bought this amp to go with my new 70's reissue Strat. I can safely say this is one of the best pieces of equipment that I have ever purchased. Fender is the way, you cant go wrong. From playing in a garage band or a bar, you wont need to turn this bad boy up passed 4 on the volume scale. It is Loud and sounds Amazing. The Phat tone switch on the amp even gives more of those fat tones that all of us Fender enthusiasts love. Buy it!

Great sounding amp and for 15 watts it is powerful. I use for jamming and practice but it could easily be used for a small or even a medium sized gig. Controls are basic and it's easy to dial in great tones. It also loves my full drive 2 pedal.
