I bought this to replace my frontman 212R and Mustang IV. I like the simplicity of the frontman and it had a good clean tone to work with, however this champion 100
is LEAPS AND BOUNDS BETTER. They actually put in an audio taper pot and replaced the linear pot that would jump from 1 to about 5 in volume. The champion has great volume control. I also have the mustang IV 2x12 combo and I think the Champion 100 sounds better. how you ask? simple. THEIR IS NO MORE DIGITAL HISS IN THE AMP MODELING. I loved the bassman model in the mustang, but could never get passed to trailing off digital hiss. what ever Fender did, they fixed it here. Ive had trouble finding the EXACT amp models for this amp online, so I will post them here. they are Tweed Bassman, Tweed Deluxe (clean), Tweed Deluxe (dirty), Tweed Champ, 65 Twin, 65 Deluxe, 65 Princeton (clean), 65 Princeton (dirty), 60's British Clean, 60's British Dirty, 70's British, 80's British, Fender Super-Sonic, 90's Metal, 2000 Metal, and "jazzmaster" (Roland JC120). It has a whole lot of effects and a GOOD SPRING REVERB WITH THAT FAMILIAR "PLUNK" SOUND. The amp also responds well to rolling off the volume. I took a chance with this amp and it payed of great. Im very happy with it, as I hardly ever feel compelled to write reviews. A WORD OF ADVICE! THE SPEAKERS NEED TO BE BROKEN IN! Put a HEAVY blanket over this thing and crank it for a bit. It sounded a bit "cold" until the speakers were broken in, but after that, WHOA. If it were lost or stolen I would grab another in a heart beat. This amp is going to go up in price when it catches on. Do some research on its channel and FX switching. Very useful and handy. For being a solid state amp, it catches the Fender tone GREAT. Easy 9.5 out of 10 in my book. Ive recorded with it as well with GREAT results. I run the PRE OUT to my computer and use Kemper IR's with it. I know people wont believe me, but it sounds as god as my AXEFX standard in the fender realm. Dont beileve me? give it a try and prove me wrong! Conclusion, one happy camper here.

This unit replaced the Fender Frontman 212 which was 199.00 just last year and now discontinued.
Adding effects and a useless 1/8" jacks is not grounds for a 33% increase in price..
Aside from the spring reverb nobody buys this amp for the effects..

I am still pretty new to the electric guitar thing. I bought this as I just wanted to mess around at home. I would assume it would be great beyond that. For the price, you cannot beat it. Solid state/tube, to me does not matter, for now does what I need to keep me more than interested.

bought in oct 2014. absolutely amazed. it has everything you need and sounds good doing it, seriously. effects are great, and you can control the level unlike some other brands. huge variety of amp voices. i can dial in classic stones, grateful dead, creedence, chris robinson brotherhood and any other sound i want, yes metal too, although if i was to be a metal player i might opt for something else, but im not so i wont. it has any sound you will ever need and its loud as shyte. if i knew it was this good, i wouldve bought it the day it hit the stores. amazing!

Far from open box/mint condition once UPS was done with it. the boxing looked like it had traveled the world several times with tape covering puncture holes and worn cardboard all around. The Coup de gras was upon opening the amp wood enclosure was broken in several spots as if a sledge hammer had been taken to it. Went to local Guitar Ctr. for one. Love it!

Comments about Fender Champion 100 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was very surprised with this amps tone at higher volumes being a solid state amp.The clean channel sounds equally good as my Peavey Stereo Chorus 400 tube amp, while maintaining that Fender tone that we all love.I actually like the over drive channel better than the Peavey. The foot switch is built like a tank and uses a 1/4" mono jack instead of the cable being directly wired in like the Peavy. This amp has plenty of power but doesn't have external speaker jacks. In my early days I used a Fender Bandmaster amp and this Champ 100 beats it hands down.

Comments about Fender Champion 100 Guitar Combo Amp:

Sounds great!I Started gigging around 1983 and used nothing but tubes,I swore by them (fender ,marshal, carvin) my friend barry was one of the first creators of a solid state amp that could voice a tube sound and he sold me on it around 94 or 95. When i heard the champion it became my first choice it blows the other models out of the water..the best part is it sounds great and you have built in reverb and delay , you can set your sound and then use boxes strictly for solos you don't have to worry about messing up you rhythm settings, and the overdrive sounds are great you can get so many different sounds by rolling off the volume or tone on your guitar , it really gives you a lot of room to experiment, you can come up with your own thing , any way it's loud and it sounds really really good.

This amp has power! The effects are good. I am still dialing it in playing with different settings. I love its sound, It gives my Les Paul that full bluesy feeling, especially in the neck pick up. Given the price range it cannot be beat. It is great for small and larger venues. I would definitely recommend this amp.

Comments about Fender Champion 100 Guitar Combo Amp:

I recently purchased the champion 100 from GC. I was intending to get the 40 but for some reason they are not available. I play in a blues band and use a blue's jr as my main amp. Like most others I have been a tube player for most of my 40 years of playing but I and the rest of the band are getting away from the high volume issue and the jr works well for that. I wanted to get a back up amp because we all know how tubes can be. Enter the champ 100
I used this live the other night just to see how it works and I have to say I am totally pleased with how it performed. We all know that solid state has come along way and if us tube guys are honest, solid state at low volume is way better than tube but at a moderate and high volume now that's a whole different story. We played at a normal small gig volume and this amp sounded excellent. The other guitar used a hot rod deluxe and the champ was just fine with it at about 5 on volume. This amp had the fender tone and punch and of course SS is not as warm but you didn't notice it, very well done. I plugged straight into it, used the black face dirty setting and was getting some great strat blues tones. I have to say for the money this amp is a winner and I probably will use it as a main amp. Did I mention that it isn't a back buster either.
