I bought this to replace my frontman 212R and Mustang IV. I like the simplicity of the frontman and it had a good clean tone to work with, however this champion 100
is LEAPS AND BOUNDS BETTER. They actually put in an audio taper pot and replaced the linear pot that would jump from 1 to about 5 in volume. The champion has great volume control. I also have the mustang IV 2x12 combo and I think the Champion 100 sounds better. how you ask? simple. THEIR IS NO MORE DIGITAL HISS IN THE AMP MODELING. I loved the bassman model in the mustang, but could never get passed to trailing off digital hiss. what ever Fender did, they fixed it here. Ive had trouble finding the EXACT amp models for this amp online, so I will post them here. they are Tweed Bassman, Tweed Deluxe (clean), Tweed Deluxe (dirty), Tweed Champ, 65 Twin, 65 Deluxe, 65 Princeton (clean), 65 Princeton (dirty), 60's British Clean, 60's British Dirty, 70's British, 80's British, Fender Super-Sonic, 90's Metal, 2000 Metal, and "jazzmaster" (Roland JC120). It has a whole lot of effects and a GOOD SPRING REVERB WITH THAT FAMILIAR "PLUNK" SOUND. The amp also responds well to rolling off the volume. I took a chance with this amp and it payed of great. Im very happy with it, as I hardly ever feel compelled to write reviews. A WORD OF ADVICE! THE SPEAKERS NEED TO BE BROKEN IN! Put a HEAVY blanket over this thing and crank it for a bit. It sounded a bit "cold" until the speakers were broken in, but after that, WHOA. If it were lost or stolen I would grab another in a heart beat. This amp is going to go up in price when it catches on. Do some research on its channel and FX switching. Very useful and handy. For being a solid state amp, it catches the Fender tone GREAT. Easy 9.5 out of 10 in my book. Ive recorded with it as well with GREAT results. I run the PRE OUT to my computer and use Kemper IR's with it. I know people wont believe me, but it sounds as god as my AXEFX standard in the fender realm. Dont beileve me? give it a try and prove me wrong! Conclusion, one happy camper here.

This amp would of got 4 or 5 stars but there is one big problem with it, the effects that you can dial in farely easy do not all have reverb, so the wah setting or the flange effect when you dial in the effects it doesnt have the reverb cause reverb is its own separate effect, fender amps are known for there reverb and this amp needs a reverb knob on both channels, so now i have to buy a reverb pedal to run reverb with a flange or wah, it does have reverb + chorus, and reverb + delay but thats it, this amp is very loud and can prolly handle a pretty big show but thats a huuuuge problem not having a reverb knob, besides that its good

Comments about Fender Champion 100 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was looking for a backup amp, just in case. I have been a tube amp player for years and still am. Recently, I was playing a gig for some very special people and my tubes exploded!!! Thank god my bass player and drummer kept the groove going. I powered up the Champion 100, not knowing what to expect. I dialed up a tweed and reverb real quick and was amazed! This amp sounded great and saved the night. Since then I took the Champion seriously and practiced with it. It has an amazing tone and volume to spare. Crank it up the gain and it becomes a beast. You will not find another solid state amp that competes with it. The only thing I don't like about it does not have 220 volt capability so I can take it with me overseas.

Comments about Fender Champion 100 Guitar Combo Amp:

I've had this amp about six months and I'm still amazed with the tone that comes out of this solid state box. However I did have a problem with it . After four months after the warranty ran out,it just died. So I took it to my local music store and the tech guy removed some screws, slid the amp chassis out.One of the wires to the power cord was improperly crimped. He easily repaired it,plugged in a Strat and started playing some Hendrix.Oh my God! the sound that came out made both of our jaws drop, his because it was only a solid state amp, mine because I had yet to play my Fender guitar through it.I love to blend this amp with my Peavey and Carvin using a Morely ABC box,it gives me everything I need.

Comments about Fender Champion 100 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was looking for a powerful clean (Fender type) sound and the occasional dirty for leads on certain songs. This amp has it. If I need a delay, then I use my delay pedal, not this amp's delay. The effects this amp offers may be desired by some but not me. I needed a strong powerful clean sound without having to spend a lot of money and this amp has it. My drummer told me that he felt like I punched him in the jaw with this kind of power. This amp is just what I needed and for a great price. Thanks again MF.

The Champion 100 Guitar Combo Amp has a beautiful warm clean sound. However, the overdrive channel is way to muddy and doesn't provide the crunchy high end sound for contemporary rock or jazz. I tried adjusting the mids and highs and could never get the right sound during a live performance.
