As the bassist in the band I wanted a small guitar amp for practicing my 6 string and doing my home recordings. I tried a Line 6 but took it back, too much malarky to wade through for too little return. I was weary of the Mustang and Peavy for the same reason. The Champion 20 is easy to use, perfect for those of us who want to dial it in, not spend hours fooling with half arsed presets or creating new ones. Plug in and tweek your sound on the dials, the way it's always been done.

The "amp models" are really just tone variations and you dial in the basic models. Let's face it you're not getting a true Tweed or blackface sound from an 8" solid state amp, ain't happenig. You can get a those "style tones" but it's more about just having options in sound. Good sounding basic effects as well. In amateur recording it sounds worlds better than trying to use amp models and basic effecs in my DAW.

I gig as a bass player so I won't perform with this amp. If I did a guitar gig I would not hesitate to bring this to a small coffee house type setting. Or even mic into it for a slightly larger venue.

Small enough to carry around the house or throw into the car for a little show. Loud enough to be heard. Very attactive classic Fender styling.

Overall I call this the best amp I've found in the price range. Excellent value.

This is an ok amp for a beginner who does not know much about sound. It has a lot of features and is small and portable. The 2 problems I have is it has that typical solid state fender boxy sound. Also the worst part of this amp is the blackface setting jacks the volume up to loud when you switch from the other settings. The others are pretty equal in volume but the models also sound very similar. I feel there are many other small practice amps which would do the job better.

Comments about Fender Champion 20 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this amp with just the intent of having a guitar amp to play while watching TV. I wanted a practice amp with some added features rather than go with a bare bones Frontman. This amp does not disappoint. The only snit is the 8 inch speaker. A ten inch speaker would have put this amp over the top. Having 20 watts is plenty to play a practice with, but the 8 inch speaker doesn't seem to be able to hold its own. Clean settings sound great with my Fender jazzmaster guitar. You can get a touch more low end by just setting the amp on the floor. Overall it is a usable practice amp with nice easy to use features. For the price, I cant really complain.

Lots of features usually found in bigger, more expensive amps. Works great for my practice amp. I swap between guitar and keyboard and gets great sound. Very portable and looks nice. Just what I expected of Fender equipment.

Bang for your buck, the best amp under 40 watts. Sounds great, lots of built in effects. Perfect totable practice amp. I only wish it had a foot switch option.

The 20 Combo is a nifty little affordable guitar amp. I am completely happy with this amp and would recommend it to anyone not requiring a really powerful event unit.

Great addition to my Ovation 12 string Custom Balladeer. The different voices add to the tonal effects. Makes the equalizer on the guitar add additional tonal effects. Great buy for the money

I bought this little amp for practice while traveling and in bed room. I hate headphones and wanted a small quiet amp with decent sound. This amp is better than I expected. In fact I liked it so much I bought its bigger brother the Champion 40 and modded it with eminence Texas Heat. I think this is a great amp for beginners or just for practice.
