Great amp, great effects and easy to use. The delay has just the right settings for my style of playing and I can set it to up the volume by changing channels without a volume pedal. Like all powerful amps you have to carry the weight. That is bad on older people.
I loved this thing out of the box with the effcts pedal that gives me a lot of control over this beast. Forty watts of tube power and effects too, don't get better than that. Great for my finger style and lead work in Country Music
Solid built similar to my Deluxe Reverb I had in 64.
Good price.

I bought this amp a few months ago and was having great luck with it. Until about a month and a half ago. At first it just appeared that a capacitor went bad. Then I found out that Fender is having a lot of trouble with it's "Vintage Modified" line of amps. I finally got to talk to the authorized Fender repair guy today, after more than a month, and he told me that Fender was considering doing some sort of recall on these amps. I asked him when my amp would be fixed and ready to pick up. He said he wasn't sure. He tried to order parts from Fender and they were on back order. He said he had been seeing a lot of problems with the "Vintage Modified" amps lately, and they were supposed to be sending him a kit to fix some of the problems. I have always loved Fender products. But after more than a month of waiting on a junk amp simply because Fender won't stock a few basic components has changed my opinion. Fender is letting a lot of loyal guitar players down. Avoid this amp like the plague. Leo, you are sadly missed.

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:
I have been searching for a new amp for quite some time.
I am a little surprised by the great reviews because I didn't find this amp to be an $800 amp.
The effects were adequate but not the best I've heard. I currently have a Stage 1000 and the effect's are better. I'm trying to break away from the solid state amps though I love the weight of them and the size and weight of the Deluxe VM would have been perfect for me. I may still consider it if the store will give me 30 days to try it out.
Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:
This has become my main amp both on stage and in the studio. I have the perfect balance of volume and tone. The on board effects are great and I love not having to run around with a pedal board anymore!
The two channels are great! The clean channel gives you that classic Fender sparkle. The drive channel give everything form nice dirt to a down right growl. The Chorus, Reverb and Delay are fantastic.
Well built and very sturdy!
No more pedal board dance for me. I just grab this beauty and go. Very good price point for all you are getting.
Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:
I love this amp. I have several other amps, but for that old time fender sound with a celestion speaker this amp is my go to, for travelling around. It has built in delay, reverb and chorus and a clean and dirty channel all selectable from an included 4 button pedal with a long (25' ?) cord. It sounds fantastic from the single 12" speaker and gets plenty loud. I love the tone and not having to carry a pedal board when i just got to a buddy's house for a couple of hours or do a small gig. I gave it an 8 because I have had fender amps with a little nicer tone, but for an all in one tube setup, this is pretty great.

Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:
I got the Deluxe vm as a package buy with a B'bender50th anni' tele'. from a guy who had not used the amp at all. To my ears it is harsh and metalic with no sustain on the clean channel, notes just die off.The Drive' channel is better but still harsh on the treble end and not what I expect from valves. After reading other comments I feel mine may have issues as I would not dream of gigging it with its present sound, also it feels wrong', just no spring under the fingers, like tapping on a steel plate.I wanted to love this amp but at present divorce is looking like the only way.
Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:
After years of lugging Mesa Boogies around, I wanted something lighter. I'm also finding the need for some effects. So, this amp fits the bill. Typical Fender clean tone. Playing mostly with a Tele, haven't spent much time with the LP on it - but it has the twang needed for what I'm doing. The drive channel is decent. I really like the delay - fattens up the sound for the rockabilly stuff and I don't have to carry around stomp boxes. I found myself using the chorus more and more at practice the other night - it's not over the top. Nice wash without sounding like an effect. This is nice little amp. It's not for shredders, but it has a home with country or the blues.
Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:
Very clean and quiet background, surprising power and volume along with excellent portability. With the on board special effects and four button stomp box, you can play blues, metal, rock or jazz with just the addition of a wah pedal. The shared control for delay and chorus is a little confusing at first, but I'm starting to get used to it. All things considered, Fender has hit one out of the park with the Vintage Modified DeLuxe. This is a fantastic amp!
Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:
I've owned this Combo for about a year now and I feel I can give an responsible review.I definately like the weight of the amp. Not a back breaker. I did have to remount the sound board after it had worked loose, Fender should have used more and longer screws I think. Not a big deal though. I also added tilt back legs. The tone on both channels was decent with the amps original configuration. I personally did not care for the speaker on the clean channel. The cone seemed stiff and occasionally ringy and did not loosen up over time. I removed the original speaker and replaced it with a JBL D123 that was rebuilt by our local speaker guru Slice Inc. The D123 fits nicely behind the power tubes and really brought out the tone. I now prefer this amps clean channel over a stock Reissue Deluxe Reverb. The Gain channel is not the best in my opinion but definately usable and responsive. Again better to me after installing the D123.I do like the Built In Effects. I rarely get past 2 on the Reverb. Not bad sounding for a solid state unit. Other comment have stated that this amp does not have good Tube Tone quality. I disagree. Especially after installing the D123. This amp does a very nice job. I do agree that the volume pot can be a little sensitve, though it's easily controlled on the guitar. All in All I think it is a Great little amp for the price. Coupled with a Strat I think it outdoes all the Hot Rod Series Fenders, and it is smaller and lighter (other than a Blues Junior).
Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:
I've had my Deluxe VM for about six months now, played quite a few gigs with it, hours upon hours of practice time with it, plugged every pedal you could possibly name into it and I will say it has pretty good tone. Cleans are much better than the overdrive, which is odd considering I'm playing a G&L Comanche (the Z-coil pickups in this guitar usually make anything overdriven sound great, and I've played my American Standard Strat through it quite a bit with similar results, as well as my Les Paul). It's a really handy little devil box for small gigs where you want to keep your set-up compact and simple, the onboard effects sound fair enough for digital, reverb is one of the better digital reverbs I've heard. The smartest thing I've found you can do to this amp is get yourself a Boss GE-7 and plug into the loop, and don't put anything between your guitar and the amp. I really helps to bring it alive. But then again I'm a simple meat and potatoes kind of guitar player, there's no need for a bunch of foo-foo garbage stompboxes muddying up my tone.
Comments about Fender Deluxe VM 40W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:
I was debating buying a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (Bluesman) or the Fender Deluxe VM. I tried both amps out for 3-4 hours each and tired just about every possible setting, and with various effects for the HR. Both are Awesome amps and you cna't go wrong with either one of them - both with great tone, a lot of power (I was trying these amps beside a 120 watt 210 digital amp) and at 2-3 on the volume setting of the Fenders, the digital was at about 6-7 - I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't done a side by side comparison. What sold me on the Deluxe VM was the great tone, the power, great looks and really great effects. They are really easy to use and are set up just like a stomp box with dial in depth, mix, and rate. For my style of play (Blues, 70's Rock and Progressive Rock) and using my Strat and Tele, Fender has done a beautiful job of these effects especially the chorus and delay. The reverb is digital but still sounds great. The HR has a spring reverb so it has a bit more depth at the high settings, but I never set the reverb set that high. Once you've set the effects, they are all controlled for on/off use with a sturdy 4 button footswitch box - so easy to use on the fly. I liked the gain channel a little more than on the HR - it seemed to cover the same amount of distortion as the HR on "more gain". This amp has absolutely no background hiss or buzz.I could not be happier with this amp! I've had no issues whatsoever. It gives me all of the effects I need, not too heavy to transport, great looks, beautiful clean and gain tone, power and even comes with a cover and the footswitch box! You really have to hear this amp to appreciate how great it is. Hats off to Fender for creating another superb amp at an affordable price!
