This pedal is great. It gives you a good, straight forward drive. I love tube screamers but, they have their place. This gives you a drive without the "twangy" sounds of a TS. You can give your tone a bit of that "my amp is cranked up to where it kills my ears but it's starting to break up" sound, or, you can turn the gain up and have a heavy distortion that fits in with any modern rock.

Overall pleased with this pedal. Has a great OD sound, but mainly only at a middle type setting (but Tone set higher). Just became more muddy as I turned up the dials. But just my opinion as we all have our likes and dislikes. Performed best on my Fender Lone Star Strat (go figure). Since I paid very little for it on DOTD, I feel it was well worth the price. Having to remove 4 screws to use a 9V battery (not included) is poor design.

Comments about Fender Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

This is a great pedal. Very good alternative to a Fender amp's original footswitch.
However; a small warning to those of us that run more than one effects pedal (or chain of pedals): I have found that this pedal works best at the BEGINING of a chain...meaning, the guitar needs to plug directly into this Drive pedal, then you can link your other pedal's as you see fit.
When I put this pedal at the end or middle of the chain, it is too loud and uncontrollable when trying to match the volume of the clean side. When placed at the beginning of the chain (or on it's own), it works perfectly as it should.
No fancy bells and whistles...just three knobs to adjust for a good clean Drive. No static, no clicks when switched on. I am impressed.
4 stars instead of 5 is only because I think (and always will) that Fender should include an AC adapter. That's just me. Said it before, and I'll say it again...9 volt batteries suck; they die way too soon, and can damage the pedal if you forget about them and they corrode or leak.

Comments about Fender Drive Guitar Effects Pedal:

There are a number of green overdrive pedals for 3 times the price, just buy the Fender Drive, and its Red!
The Drive overdrive is the most common voice we have heard all our lives, and it works well for most styles of music, but it is not a metal petal, however, it could do a good job boosting into a metal head, even as a clean boost it is worth the price since it is like adding another channel and has it's own distinctive voice; well that's my take on it any. Rock, Blues and Country are served well by the Fender Drive--Nuff Said!
