Fender

A special model with several distinctive features including a fixed bias for increased headroom.

In a historic collaboration, Fender introduces its first artist signature amplifiers-EC Series amps bearing the name of legendary guitarist Eric Clapton.

1950s-era Deluxe and Tremolux amps are prized for the warm, rich compressed tones of blues and early rock 'n' roll. Clapton often uses a Deluxe when playing traditional blues, and Fender has answered his call for a special model with several distinctive features by introducing the EC Tremolux amp. Built to Clapton's own exacting specifications and handmade in the United States, it's a fascinating variation on the '57 Deluxe designed with a '50s-era output tube bias tremolo (which produced a more throbbing pulse than later Fender tremolo circuits) and a switchable power attenuator (reduces speaker output). A pinnacle of personally inspired amp tone for stage and studio alike, it's a must for Clapton fans and guitarists who want the ultimate in tube performance.

Features include hand-wired all-tube circuitry on eyelet board with premium components; circuit based on late-'50s Fender Deluxe amp model 5E3 (about 12 watts); single channel with high-gain and low-gain inputs; tremolo speed control and footswitch; fixed bias for increased headroom; single 12" Celestion® Heritage G12-65 speaker for increased high-gain playing definition; two Groove Tubes® 6V6GT output tubes, three 12AX7 preamp tubes and 5Y3GT rectifier tube; Mercury Magnetics custom transformers; internal speaker disconnect (allows use of external 8-ohm speaker enclosure); finger-joined solid pine enclosure for warm, resonant tone; lacquered tweed covering with vintage-style brown/gold grille cloth and leather strap handle. Deluxe fitted cover included.

Comments about Fender Eric Clapton Signature EC Tremolux 12W 1x12 Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Fender claims this amp was based on the late 50s Deluxe amps. I happen to have one and have been looking for a replacement as i don't want to risk further damage to it running around to gigs. So I tried this amp out side by side with my deluxe, and there is no comparison. My almost 60 year old amp is cleaner sounding, has more punch, and is just overall a better amp. I messed with it for 30 minutes and could not get the tone I get so easily with my deluxe. It gets an okay dirty sound. But my blues jr is a better sounding amp than this and it's just 1/5 of the price. Definitely not worth the amount they are asking for. If it's the tweed you like, get a tweed blues jr. Really sad that fender couldn't make something of better quality, especially considering all the bragging I've seen from them about this series of amps.

Comments about Fender Eric Clapton Signature EC Tremolux 12W 1x12 Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Great amp with a great sound and great looks but way too expensive. Sure Clapton can afford this amp but not me. He probably gets paid to play it and we must pay to play.
I saw, and heard the fender mustangIII compared to this amp and I was impressed. the price difference requires us non-touring Joe's to look at the Mustang III it is a much better deal in reliability, volume, repair and cost. If you must have a tube amp I like ampegs but the mustang III is a butt kicker and I will leave this amp for EC he has the deep pockets I do not.

Comments about Fender Eric Clapton Signature EC Tremolux 12W 1x12 Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

If you're a Clapton fan or not, this is one awesome amp. Pretty much a '57 Deluxe with lush vibrato and a Celestion Heritage speaker that really barks. Plug in a guitar and play, no pedals needed for killer Fender tweed tone. Has classic Fender tweed tone but can get dirty with the volume turned up or more aggressive playing. Controls are simple, volume, tone, and vibrato. Power attentuator is a nice touch that cuts the amp down to about 5 watts for recording use or at home. Came with a footswtich for the vibrato and an amp cover. Highly recommended for anyone looking for classic Fender Deluxe tone. Had a Blues Jr NOS tweed with a Jensen speaker that didn't even come close to the sound this amp puts out.

    EC Tremolux

Comments about Fender Eric Clapton Signature EC Tremolux 12W 1x12 Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I was lucky enough to get one of the early-runs and am very happy with this simple, straigtforward, touch-sensitve tone creature. At 25lbs, it will go with me to many more places than I'd take my heavier Deluixe Reverb.
Not too many to discuss - but by design............what there are ( volume / tone controls and tremolo) ...........all work fine.
The placement of foot switch plug and fuse is a little inconvenient and silly, but I will suffer through this.
Top notch looks, sound and feel, as you'd expect, as Fender brags about the use of top quality parts and hand-assembly.
A bit pricey, but if you've tried others, you may decide that the true tone is worth every penny. I did.
