Excelent amp, has all the Hot Rod features PLUS comes with white tolex, white knobs and modern looking gril cloth. The main differenc is however the speaker, It used Celestion 12' which looks like it has the neodimium magnet instead of the Emmnence spealer with the normal ceramic disc. It has very cool looking back can with cooling fins but the mgenet probably makes it 5 lbs lighter than the regular one. I am surprised that Fender and thier retailers don't push this feature as it is the one thing that justifyed the price difference. For me this amp looks as good as it sounds. It is limited addition and has the 60th anniversary decal on the nameplate in the back. VERY COOL AMP!
I purchased this amp about 2 months ago and I really love it. I previous owned a Hot Rod Deluxe which had a nice tone but the White Lightning seems to have an even better tone maybe due to the Celeston speaker? Breaks up nice on the distortion channel as long as the Master Volume is set at 1 and Run pickups on my American Stat wide open. Clean channel is SWEET. For this price range of amp I think it's one of Best out there.
i owned a hr deluxe a few years ago and it was an okay amp(3 stars). i purchased the limited edition with the celestion 30 vintage and the two are not remotely alike unless maybe you place the volume at 1 or 2. i don't know if re-placing the stock eminence with the vintage 30 would put it on par or not with the limited edition moded but all i can say is that for over 40 years I've been trying to find that amp that hits me 101% this does it. to the person that plays strictly Chicago or Memphis style blues this amp will put a grin on your face from ear to ear. Albert King shoulda had this amp.
