OVERVIEW

Get stage-ready power and a huge array of tones in a portable 1x12 combo.

How can a modern legend like the Mustang digital amplifiers be improved? Simple—Fender did it again, bigger and better with the Mustang GT 100. Fender takes seven decades’ worth of experience crafting inspirational tools and use it to add new (and better) amp and effects models while making it easier to use all of this without sacrificing one iota of power. Fender made it easy to control a studio’s worth of authentic amp and effects models with one finger via Bluetooth and the exclusive Fender Tone app. Fender invented the world’s first WiFi-equipped guitar amplifier, making it easy for you to download the latest updates, access Fender artist-created presets, and connect directly with a community of other creative players and music makers like yourself. Fender created the Mustang GT 100 digital amplifier.

Packed with 21 classic amp models—everything from the renowned ’59 Bassman to modern metal—and 46 different effects, the Mustang GT 100 can easily recreate classic tones or create brand-new, never-before-heard sounds. Fender developed new algorithms with even higher fidelity and more realistic response, along with more signal path flexibility so you can move effects anywhere in the signal chain for creative exploration. Program your sounds in the studio on the Mustang GT 100’s large, full-color LCD display and then, with one hand, take them anywhere for the most realistic listening experience possible.

Fender invented inspiring tone, and our updated amp models let your instrument’s voice and the dynamic nuances of your playing come through, reacting just like the originals to your every move. Lighten your attack to “clean up” your sound or dig in to make it grunt or howl—the Mustang GT 100 and its single 12-in. Celestion Special Design speaker reproduce every part of your performance or Bluetooth wireless audio stream with precision. Adding the optional MGT-4 4-button footswitch for hands-free preset/FX switching and looper control turns the Mustang GT 100 into a truly formidable performance powerhouse.

Adding convenient, one-finger control to the Mustang GT 100’s power is the easy-to-use Fender Tone app. Not only can you connect to the Fender Digital ecosystem for learning and sharing, you can easily upgrade the amp’s capabilities, adding more power and presets without patching a single cable or plugging in a soldering iron. One amp for every stage, the Mustang GT 100 is easy for any player but powerful enough to go around the world.

You will need to "tweak" the settings folks

Comments about Fender Mustang GT 100 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier:

I just sold my Mustang III V.2 and almost wish I had kept it. Here's why:
The sounds on the Mustang GT are very "flat". Very little Reverb, and hardly any dimension or depth. Even when I increased the Reverb, it does not sound "natural". Hopefully I can modify it to get the sounds of the amp I just gave up. Not sure why Fender completely revamped the sounds, but the previous model had beefiness and punch, and so far this does not. All Fender had to do was JUST add the cool new features that the GT now has. Oh well, I have a lot of work to do myself now. :(

Comments about Fender Mustang GT 100 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier:

I got very excited and bought the GT 100 on the first day they came out. The amp is a lot of fun to play with, but some thing seemed off about the sound. The presets all seem a bit like they were under a wet blanket and muddy. I discovered Fender flipped on the cabinet simulations on all the presets which kills the sound. Turning them off brings back some liveliness. The Fender amps sound great when dialed in and I'm loving the chimey sound of the AC30.

We are most likely in for a long haul of software updates based on feedback (two in the first three weeks) to dial it in. However, as an IoT platform the user experience will only get better if Fender chooses to invest in the platform. It is absolutely a next gen platform which I think requires a Bluetooth device to control. There are just too many settings available to do from the amp which could leave you spending more time fiddling than playing. Overall, I think the amp is great for a home player who doesn't want to go down the tube amp and pedal rabbit hole. It's plenty loud for gigs, but I would prefer a pedal board to using the onboard effects.

Comments about Fender Mustang GT 100 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier:

I have used this amp for a couple of weeks now and can say that probably got familiar with most features by now.

    The good:
It sounds great and loud enough for a small hall. It easily matches the volume of a grand piano when I play duets. The amp allows to create infinite number of great sounding presets very easily and intuitively. The choice of effects and amplifiers being modeled is very extensive.

I like the fact that it can install software updates via wifi and that updates keep coming ( in two last weeks I there were several). Also the ability to download presets (e.g. Santana sound, Pink Floyd sound etc) is very nice.

Unlike other reviewers I didn't have any problem with either wifi or bluetooth connectivity. The application Fender Tone works perfectly well on iPhone (although, in my exprience was pretty buggy on android, so I stopped using it on my Samsung tablet).

    The bad.
    1. I dislike the fact that it takes about 10 seconds to boot up. My older Mustang amp was turnig on instanteniously. Not a big complaint, but sometimes you want to start playing right away.

    2. As of 9/1/17, when I installed the current update, there was a major inconvenience: every time the amp was turned on, it would default to preset #1. Since my users presets are in 100s and 110s, it meant that I needed to scroll through a lot presets to get to my favorites. Luckily, as of 9/13/17 this is fixed, and now the amp starts on the last played preset - thanks to the development team

Comments about Fender Mustang GT 100 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amplifier:

The Fender GT 100 is definitely a step forward in the inexpensive modeling market. The ability to connect to the Fender Tone app via Wifi and to use Wifi to download software updates is a really useful ability. Some will say it's very unorthodox, but those people should stick to traditional amps if they don't want one with modern features. Okay now that I'm off my soap box - here are some more of the Pros: additional amp models than the version 2, ability to change the chain of effects (reverb in front or after amp, etc), lightweight/portable. The major cons for me: not enough new amp and effects models, new footswitch design that is a step backwards (and sold separately). I mainly use the Mustang for silent practice and recording in my apartment, and it's great for that. I haven't used it in a band setting, but it would probably sound alright. I haven't played many of the recent modeling amps out there except for the Marshall Code, which I didn't care for, so I don't know how it stacks up against the competition. And it doesn't blow me away to the point where I would recommend this no matter what. But it is solid, the presets are cool, and it functions well. It's like a much anticipated sequel to a movie that doesn't quite live up to the hype, but is still good on its own.
