This is actually my third amp from the Mustang series of amplifiers. I originally owned the first version of the Mustang II and the Mustang III. Both of them, while having great emulations of Fender "clean" and overdriven rock tones, I found to be somewhat lacking when it came to getting a good metal distortion. Both amps eventually ended up being traded and/or sold for other gear. However, I was impressed with the versatility offered by the FUSE editing software and the fact that the Mustang III had an effects loop, something normally not found on a SS modelling amp.

When the new Mustang v2 series came out, with the promise of a re-tweaked distortion voicing I had to check it out.

This thing is now the complete amp for my needs. I'm mostly a metal guy (Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Testament, Slayer etc.), but I also dabble in the blues as well, along with some occasional classic rock (ACDC, Hendrix, ZZ Top) and most recently some Country (gulp!). The great Fender sounds are still all there, but now the distortion that was lacking in the previous version is present too. Factor in that they've added some additional amp models (a "60's Thrift" which I'm guessing is a Silvertone, a "British Watts" (Hiwatt) and a "British Colour" (Orange)) and I've got almost every amp I've ever wanted in one box.

I don't think it's reasonable or fair to compare the modeled amps to their real life counterparts and expect them to sound EXACTLY the same. There are just too many variables for that to work. And we are, after all, translating from the analog to the digital realm with these amp models. But you can get ever so close to hearing what you would expect that amp to sound like. And with the FUSE software you can mix and match speaker cabs as well as adjust tube sag and bias, giving you the ability to play around with the resonance and dynamic responsiveness and "feel" of the amp. In short, this amp is a tweaker's dream come true!

The palette of effects that are offered are no less impressive. There are six different dirt boxes that are modeled, as well as two varieties of compressor. Modulation stompboxes come in fourteen different varieties and there are ten different reverb stompboxes. All stompboxes have the same number of parameter controls as their real life counterparts. There are an equal number of modeled rack effects as well, each with at least five editable parameters.

Along with the FUSE software it also comes with a key to download Ableton's LIVE 8 and IK Multmedia's Amplitube le for Fender.

The only drawback I can find with this amp is that I sometimes find myself spending too much time playing around and tweaking it than I do spending time for much needed guitar practice! It's a great sounding, versatile amp. It offers so much more than the Peavey VYPYR VIP 3 (which I purchased and promptly returned because of mediocre sound, several glaring product defects and a painfully cumbersome user interface). I'm not saying that this is the be all and end all of amps. As a matter of fact I'm waiting for Musician's Friend to get the Blackstar HT Metal series in stock just because it's strictly an all tube metal amp with a wide tonal palette. But for a great sounding go to amp that will give me any sound I need without a lot of fuss, this is the one.

This Amp is fantastic for recording. It has tons of pre-amp effects and models other great amps pretty well. I was disappointed with the inability to get a good clean channel out of it. The 2 button switch bounces you back and forth between various amp models and settings. Perhaps others have figured out how to get it clean and make the pedal more functional. It's complicated in my opinion and has left me seeking something much more simple. The amp itself sounds fantastic. It just does way more than I need or understand.

Comments about Fender Mustang III V.2 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Sounds very good, see A/B comparisons with tube amps on YouTube. Models many iconing amps from the 50s to the current day. Built in pedals sound good, but you can only have 4 and only one of each type (distortion, delay, reverb, etc...). This is often not enough (many U2 songs require 2 delays). The amp has an effect loop so it will take external delays at least. The amp can be very loud but sounds good at practice levels.
I own a Mustang Iv2 also and I really appreciate the LCD and controls of the Mustang III for quick tweaking of the presets. Still, to get the most out of the amp, you will want to connect it to a computer over USB and use the Fuse software. If nothing else, to download some of the great presets available on the internet.
I'm only giving the amp 4 stars because Fuse requires a computer and I wish it worked from a more portable Android tablet for example. Also I wish it were Bluetooth or wifi, not USB for easier wireless operation. Still an incredible value!

I entered the fields based on what my professional guitarist brother told me. I bought this amp as a gift for him and he has called me many times to thank me and tell me what a great amp it is and how much he loves me for getting it for him. :)

Comments about Fender Mustang III V.2 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I bought this after alot of researching and watching numerous youtube videos and off others claiming it sounds and responds like a tube amp. I already have a nice tube amp so my reason to want to get this was for home use so I could jam along with my stereo and not have to have a bunch of pedals out to mess with for different music. Well, for me anyways, adjusting this amp is more time consuming and labor intensive than I care for. I like to plug in and play. I don't care to spend so much time trying to dial stuff in just to play and get it to sound near what I want. I eventually figured out how to do enough on it but it still takes time. From an actual tube amp user I can also say that this doesn't come close to a tube amp in either tone or touch response. I don't care what some of those you tubers claim,it just doesn't sound no wheres close to my tube amp.The tone is synthetic sounding and harsh/brittle to me.It is 100 watts but you cannot use all the power like you can with a tube amp because solid state amps get very very harsh as the volume the volume is pushed, unlike tube amps.If you want this to mess around at your house its an ok addition but if you want to gig with it,I would seriously reconsider if I was you.I could not see messing with it between every song at a gig to try and dial in the sound and hope you don't bump a wrong button and mess it up and have to start over from scratch. It is what it is,just like all modeling technology. Claim to be more authentic tube tone than they really are. It still is what it is,a solid state amp trying to sound like a tube amp byt failing.

i have used every amp know to man for 35 years and this one, although does not nail everything, has so much and sounds so good and has a 5 year transferable guarantee. when you factor in the cost , tweakablity and ease of use, and the ability to string switches and wah/expression pedal with just 1/4 inch cables. it cannot be beat if you are one that plays a bit of all genres.

Comments about Fender Mustang III V.2 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I only had a little space available to place an amp in my front room, and this amp fit the bill perfectly. It's an amazing little amp. The best part is the many preset modeling presets you can pick through until you find that perfect tone and vibe you've been searching for, or you can tweak those settings further and create your own, and then save it. I had a LINE6 amp before - and it was pure trash, no effect sounded right, but on the Fender Mustang - they have done their homework! -you can actually close your eyes and make believe you are playing an old Bassman amp, an old Champ, all the fender effects are SPOT ON. It's not so perfect on the British or classic rock modes, but it's far (FAR) better than the trash from Line6. If you use headphones, be careful, as the output on the amp is plenty loud enough to do some damage. And then don't forget to turn down the volume and gain before you remove the headphone jack, because 100 watts of feedback will ruin your day. The clean tones with big levels of reverb are the most pleasing to my ears, a lot of the presets are muddy and distorted beyond any useful purpose whatsoever. (Baritone comes to mind) It seems that every guitar I have sounds differently on this amp.. You can hear the details and nuances in your favorite guitar pickups which is so very, very cool.. A great value. Absolute gold. I am sold.

I am very happy with this amp and M.F. service. It does everything I wanted when I ordered it.
My only complaint is with Fenders website for product registration. I have tried to get on and register it 4 times and it doesn't accept my entries.
Without being able to register you have no access to a comprehensive operation manual or the fuse software.
One thing would be helpful and thats a better manual to be included with the shipment.
Overall this is a great amp ( thumbs up )

This amp is super easy to use. Very portable. The tones are good. The high gain 2000 model really suprised me. It has plenty gain without having to use virtual pedals before it. JCM 800 model is good. 59 Bassman with tube screamer is good. The 65 Twin is OK but not as good as I expected from a Fender. But the tone choices are very wide.

My CON is a very big one that I'm not sure I can get over. There is a noticable sound "drop out" when switch between presets. It creates a delay. You can't hit the button on the down stroke. You've got to switch early and then there still is a gap in sound. If you are not a big switcher during songs then this won't be an issue for you.
