A few things from previous reviews that are dead wrong:
      - It has a compressor.
      - You can assign what patch comes up when it's turned on (and don't know why you'd turn it off on a set break, not like the tubes are getting warm).
      - If you want a line out, it has it - use the FX loop send. You don't have to mute the power amp with headphones.

This unit simply sounds good. Ignoring what type of power amp, the presence of glowing glass bottles, or whatever, it just sounds decent. Right out of the box, it's easy to dial in useful sounds. USB record out is a nice feature, and each patch has a USB gain so you can have a seperate master boost for it in record mode without messing up the balance of your patches relative to one another for 'using the speakers now' sounds.

Amp models are relatively convincing, but that's not what matters to me. What matters is "does it sound good?" and it delivers, especially with some tweaking. I have other modellers and options, including a much more expensive Roland GR-55 (which is amazing but it's not an amp), but the Mustang works to quickly dial in a useful amp sound with basic effects.

The basic effects thing must be noted. The included stompboxes range from embarassing (the pitch shifter, it's a throwback to 80s bad without the control that modern units should have) to quite good (spring reverbs and echoes). That said, the fuzz is as bad as most digital fuzzes, you won't be pitching your external stompboxes here, especially if you like some of the modern abusive oscillating fuzz stuff available.

But that's ok, the amp takes pedals well, from my venerable tape-based Space Echo to the Ampeg Scrambler. The problem, though, is that the amp's effects loop is post-USB, so you won't be using that for recording anything post-amp on the included interface, and rendering it sort of useless except as a line out to a board, mixer, or other recording interface. Also, the effects loop cannot be moved - it's post-all preamp, all modellers, all everything but the power amp, post USB - and that's how it is.

That said, the thing sounds good. And with the included 4 button fuotswitch, I couldn't see the point of buying a Mustang Floor even if it would primarily be used as a recording tool and almost never see a speaker load.

It's easy to use, sounds good, and is as cheap as some of the pedals I'm using (and doubles as a backup amp). What's not to like?

It's hard to give it a 6 after all the great comments and it really really really is a great amp. HOWEVER, judging it against all competition, it still has compared to the great amps. But for a halfstack, I would rate it a 15.
For the money, no questions asked, you won't find a more complete product. The amp itself is very easy to use with or without computer configuration. It's dummy proof so you'll get beautiful tone right from the first power up.
I'm using this amp to gig with my band. I'm still undecided about using it over my hot rod deluxe for more power. The tone is very good, but it's def better at lower volumes. So when you crank it, you'll lose some tone. That being said, for they money and probably more there's no better amp.

Comments about Fender Mustang V HD 150W Guitar Amp Head:

Such a great line of amplifiers. I have/had the Mustang floor,3,4,and three 5's. I kept coming back to the 5 for its versatility.. its just so dang versatile it's hard not to own one.

Tonally, the cleans are bang on. looking for historical tone examples online allow you to dial in near identical tones. I have to say near, because its just not quite exact. None the less, better than good enough. P
Passable sound and no complaints there.

The fuse software is just so cool. Very useful to dig into options much easier than on the LCD screen.
Great bang for your buck amplifier.

Right out of the box this is a very impressive unit. Built like a Jag Panzer and sounds like a dream. The built-in effects are all very unique and sound amazing. The TRUE STEREO amplification is what sets this head from the other heads of this price range. Whether you use this as a main or a backup, the quality is there and you will not be disappointed in this one bit. Fender has another winner on its hands.

Comments about Fender Mustang V HD 150W Guitar Amp Head:

This is a great amp with a lot of different amp models. This amp has some of the best clean amp sounds I've heard. The crunchy/distortion amp presets are ok and will probably get you by for most classic rock sounds. However, the high gain amp presets and amp models sound a little artificial to me. The reverb effects are really good, along with the delays. But the modulation effects and the overdrive/fuzz/distortion effects are not that great. You can plug your own effects in through the effects loop or guitar input if you wish. The amp is pedal friendly and very loud. I play through a 2x12 cabinet and can easily play with the loudest drummer or bass player without any problems. I usually have the master volume set around 3-4.5 depending on which amp model I'm using.

Now for the cons. The amp has an 1/8 aux input for your mp3 player or other media device and an 1/8 headphone jack. After about 2 weeks of using the 1/8 input jacks it seems like the jacks are starting to get loose and wiggle just a bit. A couple of times I've had to wiggle the cord for it to play. It looks like the jacks are made out of plastic. My advise is to be careful as you insert the 1/8 connector in and out of the jack. I wish the amp had a little better variety and quality overdrive/distortion affects.

Overall this is a very nice amp at a very affordable price. I gig with it on a regular bases and have had zero problems with it except with the 1/8 jacks.

Comments about Fender Mustang V HD 150W Guitar Amp Head:

For what I paid for this with free shipping, I can't believe it. You get so much with this amp for so little. If anything it great to have just for fun and flexibility. The sound quality is pretty good overall. I haven't played around with Fuse too much as haven't really tried to tweak in the sound. Some of the presets have a bit of a static in the sound which I'm not sure can be tweaked away or not. It only really seems audible when recording with a mic or through USB and only on certain presets. Gain seems to have an effect on this. Still, when playing through my cabinet, a Bugera, it sounds great overall. I wouldn't say its quite the quality of a really good tube amp but its pretty darn close. For small to medium live performances and jamming at the house its great. The sound stays consistent at medium low to high volumes. For the price its a no brainer. Would highly recommend everyone having one of these though if your a professional its not going to be your only amp or go to. My opinion my change with some tweaking but out of the box I would rate it good on sound quality and excellent on features and fun.

Comments about Fender Mustang V HD 150W Guitar Amp Head:

This Amp right out of the box sounds great, the stereo effects give great depth and warmth and beat anything else mono. The controls at first are confusing but after playing with it for an hour or so the ability to modify things becomes easy. While I don't have the cabinet yet, the output through the headphones has amazing quality, much better than the Line6 Spider IV that I have. The Effects are great, and besides the "Fuzz" pedals (which sounds extremely thin) everything performs flawlessly. The only bad I have to say about it is that some of the amp models are completely useless, such as the space fuzz one that has zero definition and tone. I'm playing through an Epiphone Les Paul and this amp also (on a few amp models) lets the tone of the guitar come through, it doesn't over-color your tone or make it weak as a lot of other solid-state amps tend to do, just make sure you find the right amp. Other than that the unit seems solid and well made. It isn't overly heavy and the striped design on the black looks great. I only gave this amp a 4/5 due to the limited good amp selection and I haven't heard it out of a cabinet yet.
