Goes from warm bluesy to hot slap all by how I attack the strings. Looks like we will be using this one to record our new CD. Great amp for a great price.

I have been lugging around an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro and the Ampeg 6 x 10 cabinet for years now.
Hands down the absolute best world class bass tone on the planet. ( unless you want to change tubes at One hundred plus every six months like I would have to ). I play 100 + shows a year. Mostly 250 to 500 seats .
I am now 60 years old, and was looking for a smaller rig that didn't compromise my sound.
I was , and still am , very unlucky in my search.
The new Fender rumble 500 watt was interesting at first. It seemed to come somewhat close to getting that Ampeg sound until I turned it up. Yes, there should be enough volume for small to medium gigs, but thats not the only concern here is it ? I noticed as the volume increased, the tone decreased.
The louder you play , the less tone you will have . This seems to be a common trait with most of these small solid state combo's . They have a "sweet spot" you need to stay within , or you will not have control over your tone if you exceed. I was MOST impressed with the TC Electronics Mini heads with a 4x10 cab underneath. But then I am back to hauling two pieces of gears, two cases, bla bla bla.
Kind of defeats the " smaller combo" mentality.
I do think for a casual small club player looking for a small
portable combo rig, you should look at the Fender Rumble 500.
However , if you want the best tone with unlimited volume, you will be wanting an Ampeg, Dave Eden World Tour, or similar high wattage name brand rig.
It's a very good value for the money.....but you do get what you pay for !

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

I have used a Sunn Concert Bass (2 - 15s) for 25 years - I also have an all tube Mesa Prodigy Four:88 with 2 - 4x10 cabinets - perhaps the pinnacle of bass sound. These cabinets require much more back than I now possess to move - excellent though they are. I then bought the now discontinued Fender Rumble 150 (single 15) to haul around, but it also is too physically heavy. Then I took a chance on the new Rumble 500 Combo (2-10s) -- Wow, Wow, Wow! What a beast! Tight, deep and powerful - and you can get a second 2x10 - or even a 4x10 cabinet and blow the house down! And the added beauty is that I can carry this thing around - only 36 lbs. When you are 66 years - this makes big a difference - I absolutely love it!

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

Greatest product ever made. Not just bass amps or musical equipment. I mean this is the greatest product ever invented.

I accidentally turned master volume up to 5 and I blew out all the windows in my building. I live in a 28-story highrise apartment building.

My neighbors loooooooooove me with my new Rumble bass amp. LOL - not.

Get this amp now. You can gig a stadium with it not mic'd up if you're so inclined.

Oh -- tone is perfect too. Perfect amp.

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

Debated at length about purchasing this unit. Heard a lot of "stories" of bad experiences with this combo. Heard it had been redesigned....started seeing lots of very positive reviews. Tried it out, side-by-side versus some of its competitors, and it performed very well. Decided to take the plunge. Glad I did! Exceptional combo....so far. Great amp for all the pros listed above. The "cons" are just my nit-picking! I play a variety of music genres, mainly in large club environments. The direct out seems to meet the approval of sound techs I work with, and they are complimentary of the sound and tone of this combo. My bandmates are complimentary as well. Is more than sufficient to cut through the mix of a five-piece band. It easily handles the full range of my five-string basses....all active....and is loud as it needs to be without any flab or rattling the box. Don't know how long this will perform at this level, but for now, I am very pleased. Somebody at Fender has done their due diligence on this combo!

Works great with my upright bass. It is clearly heard through my hard driving rockabilly band. It also reproduces my uprights natural sound. My Rickenbaker also sounds killer through it.

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

This Combo is super light and Powerful. I can easily dial in any sound I need and it's very simple to use. I am using a Fender Jazz American Deluxe bass with this amp most of the time and it thumps hard. I also use an Eden Wt 800 with a 4X10 and even though it's hard to believe, I like this set-up just as much. I purchased the 1X15 to pair this up and it sounds great! Great clear lows with tons of power and volume. Entry level price with professional quality. If you are thinking about buying this combo, you won't be disappointed. Musicians friend return policy is unbeatable along with their price.

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

Yes, I consider myself a novice still even all these years down the road. I play mostly parties, and at church. I am no paid professional, and I just don't consider myself good enough to call myself experienced either...

Having said that, there isn't enough good that I can say about this amp. The tone shaping controls on this thing are beyond amazing. Your basic Bass, Mid low, Mid High, and High knobs do exactly what you expect them to do, the Vintage, Bright, Overdrive etc... all deliver awesome tones all on their own.

I always played through Crate and Ampeg 15" combos and always struggled to find "my sound". It took me less than 5 minutes fiddling around with this to find it. And it has given me the ability to kick my playing up to the next level sound wise, it actually sounds like I know what I am doing.

The expansion port and optional footswitch bring great flexibility to this combo...

The overall build quality is astonishingly good, and the weight, well I admit I have car wreck caused back problems and the light weight of this thing makes loading in / out less of a punishment than it used to be.

Talk to anyone that owns one of these, and I am sure you'll hear them gush about this amp. It is beyond awesome!

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

I have the Fender Rumble 500 paired with the Fender Rumble 115 as an extension cabinet. So the config is 500 watts, two 10's, one 15 and two compression tweeters.

This is the best rig I have owned - up to and including my SVT with the 8/10 cab. Between the exceptional tone and portability, hands down, a versatile and fun rig. Easy to find a great tone and easy to change when necessary. I am playing a Fender P-Bass through it with flat wounds and the responsiveness is incomparable. I am struggling to find something to improve upon, and I just can't. Thank you Fender for thinking of us bassists once again.

this thing has so much power and great sound it is silly. And it is so easy to tote around. A really all around great bass combo. Don't let the two 10" setup worry you, tons of low end, I had originally planned to get the 15" extension cab for it but after actually using it I really don't see why I would need to.

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

This amp exceeded my expectations - super light weight, fantastic tone, lots of options for altering tone (contour, vintage, etc.), and it lived up to it's "rumble" name - on a 2/10 volume, it was rumbling the house enough to open cupboards! I absolutely recommend it. I was trying to decide between the Rumble 200 and the Rumble 500 - I am very happy I spent the extra money and went with the 500!

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

I went from a 410 cab and 500 watt bass head, seperate, to this combo, and holy cow is it awesome. Playing a lot of gigs in San Francisco made me realize I needed something under 150 lbs to be carrying up 2 flights of stairs. I picked this up after messing around with it in a music shop and notcied it was very clear sounding, and loud! After picking it up and feeling the weight, I was sold. It amazes me that this combo is this light, this loud, and this clear! It kept up with my band no problem, and we even recorded with it for our EP. A plus is the overdrive on it, is actually not bad. When fine tuned, I got some sweet warm fuzz to accent the guitar parts. I'm looking into getting a 115 to add to this and make it even better. For the price, theres no other combo like it. I highly reccomend picking one of these up. I no longer dread packing/unpacking and moving between 2 bands!

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

Wow. I went into the 500/2-10 Combo for its weight and portability, but I came away with a lot of respect for it. It has a lot of punch already and I added a Rumble 112 Cabinet to it and it sounds awesome. i watched the online video about the 3 tone-sculpting buttons, and was intrigued. The settings each have their places and times for use, but my old '79 Jazz Bass sounds superb with all tone controls flat. So does my '78 Precision Special (much different than what they're calling a P Special nowadays!). I have a Mesa M9 Carbine with a Mesa 4-10 Roadhouse Cab to compare to, and for the small amount of cash the Rumbles set me back, the Fenders hold their own at volumes that I play at. I can no longer haul the Mesa stuff around for its heft, but the Rumble stuff fits the bill in the clubs and small-to-medium venues where I mostly play, and it weighs a lot less than a suitcase my wife would pack for a weekend getaway!

I think I made a wise decision, grasshopper. Don't be afraid to lose the weight.

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

I have attempted to play the bass for 47 years and have gone through more bass amps that would make your head spin! I had a GK MB115 bass amp that installed a Celestion 300 watt bass amp speaker that sounded nice, but the power was not enough to play in most places I like to play. I then bought the Ampeg 450 watt bass amp that was literally a piece of junk! I returned it and bought a Hartke 150 bass amp that has the paper & aluminum 15" speaker. It sounded nice enough, but when I tried to hit the low end on the E string, it sounded like it had gas and was competing in a farting contest! Seriously folks this is what it sounded like. I found out that the aluminum part of the speaker was pulling away from the paper cone that I found out was a problem with this amp. Needless to say, I sent it back and was offered a huge discount to upsize the Fender 500 watt bully and I was taken aback and was just amazed with this amp.

Comments about Fender Rumble 500 2x10 500W Bass Combo Amp:

I use this bass amp ALL the time, at rehearsal, on stage in 2 bands, and at home. With 500W it is plenty powerful to handle most all venues. It sounds GREAT, is really portable (since my back does NOT want to handle my Accugroove El Whappo and Tri112 for most gigs.) The Rumble 500 has REALLY great sound, and has a very functional overdrive. and it has mountains of head room that will tear down some small structures. (at the least it is certainly loud enough to break things...) Also it LOOKS great with that Vintage Fender styling that is Perfect for both my Surf Rock and Blues band applications.
My only gripe is that the first 1/4 turn of the Volume control is a bit touchy. some of the hardware is obviously inexpensive (read that "Cheap") and I have already broken the "Fender" logo on the front twice. (super glue and a sliver sharpie "fixed it" but other than that, I love the Amp.
On stage, it has a built in DI, so I don't need an external DI, and I use it often with in-house Sound systems. Just an XLR connection and the sound person is happy and ready to go.
All in all this is a GREAT amp, and I plan to use it for a long time.
