Comments about Fender Starcaster Guitar Amplifier:

Bought this for someone as a Christmas Present and of course I tested it out first before I wrapped it back up.
Overall sound (volume) for this size of amp was nice. I just wan not very happy with the tone quality the amp gave. It had little to do depth of tone. But...that is to be expected since I was not buying an expensive practice amp. I bought it for a child who is a beginner and for that use I feel it is a good buy.

Comments about Fender Starcaster Guitar Amplifier:

Since the price was very low this small unit was
a very good value . Understanding that it is very
small and low powered , the output is suprisingly
good , sounds clear for it's size and is styled
like it's big brothers . It will work well for
    it's intended purposes .

Comments about Fender Starcaster Guitar Amplifier:

I got this as a practice amp. I returned the first one I got because it had a loud hissing noise. The second one is no better, so I guess that is just the nature of the beast. The sound is pretty good on clean and you can run it close to max volume without too much hiss. The amp has a distortion switch which seems to jack up the gain by about 50%, I personally would rather have a gain control, this is why I say it has "limited functions". The distortion switch gives a pretty good shred effect, but with it kicked in you can't raise the volume above 2 without getting an unacceptable level of hiss. This gives an acceptable sound level for living room or back porch use, but I wouldn't take it anywhere. As far as recommending it to a friend, I would but strictly as a cheap practice amp.

Comments about Fender Starcaster Guitar Amplifier:

plugged it in, played my tele through it; sounded good until i let a chord naturally decay (fade out on its' own for beginners) and this gnarly, oscillating distortion started swirling out of it. I tried my thinline archtop and same thing; some filter or cap in the circuit is whacked right out of the box; too bad.
