Price, sound, great stock speaker, new modeling sounds and choices, 15 watts tube RMS, channel switching, light weight and Fender quality. Need I say more?
Sometimes people create a product so good that they just leave it alone, let it run its course and then eventually retire it......not Fender!!! They take the extremely popular and amazing Fender Super Champ XD, an amp most people who have tried have also bought, and dramatically improve upon it!! I have the original and love it, but I must admit this new model is even better in several different levels of operation. First, let me say both amps are great, but since the Super Champ XD is no longer available as new, the X2 tells us why by its amazing operational skills and value. The new version is highlighted by a great sounding stock speaker, excellent tube power @ a conservative 15 watts RMS, and most important of all slight modeling changes that give one more "Fender Sound" options than the earlier model. You still have many choices for those who want distorted, thrasher sounds, but, for true Fender fans, you also receive several new classic Fender sounds to choose from as well. For any professional or soon to be pro musician, this is one amp that can serve you in practically any gig situation. It simply sounds amazing and is very powerful and light weight to haul around. Seriously, unless you are an absolute "Rock Star" who needs walls of amplifiers for a big concert venue.....make sure you check this baby out. Did I mention that the price is very reasonable? This is one of the new standards in the Fender line and it is now made in Mexico instead of China. Should be a plus. Either way, check it out, you won't be sorry......this is one great amp!!!!!! By the way, I am no rookie, I have played professionally for over 40 years and I think this amp will be popular with many age levels and styles of players. Thanks for reading and I hope this helps you in your music.

Nice little amp, great features. I like the tubes comlimenting the modeling, as I don't like straight modeling. Nice variety of amps and FX. Wish there was a Mid and Presence control.

The bad:
Every combo I've owned has some sort of rattle or buzz somewhere, including my Princeton Reissue, and that thing cost nearly $1K, which is rediculous. This amp is no exception, and the first day out of the box I had to trace a buzz down to a bad speaker; the speaker has a buzz like the paper was ripped, but there is no rip anywhere. It does this completely out of the cabinet, so it's not cabinet or baffle rattle. I get so tired of purchasing products and then having to return/exchange them, only to get another one with some other problem.

Fender Fuse:
I feel Fender threw us a bone with this. You can create presets on your computer to your heart's content, but unlike the Mustang and G-DEC, you can't upload presets to the amp. You can only create them, store them on your computer, and use them when the amp is connected via a USB cable. This is completely useless if you want to take the amp anywhere with you. All this software serves to do is highlight the fact that 50% of the amp's true features are completely unusable without a computer connection. Therefore, I threw the software in the Recycle bin.

Lastly, the amp does not recall your Tap tempo setting after you change voicings or turn the amp off - there's no way to save your Tap setting. It's annoying to have to reguess my Delay setting every time I turn the amp on.

This is a nice amp that could have been so much better. It's worth keeping because it has a few nice tones, but now I have to replace the speaker and settle for less functionality than I was expecting.

It would be 3/5 if the speaker wasn't broke, and 5/5 if you could also upload your presets to the amp. With two strikes against it, I gave it 2/5-Below average. I recommend it, but only to those who know what to expect.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I am amazed at how much I love this amp. First off, I have been playing guitar for 50 years and played professionally for over 30. I have owned some of the most iconic classic Fender amps made. I don't understand the negative reviews. As a recording engineer for many years, I know good tone when I hear it. Maybe they got a lemon. I've played through this amp using my Fender American Deluxe Strat and a Tele, a 335, PRS Santana, an Epiphone Les Paul and the tones are absolutely amazing and carry a distinct sound with each guitar. Recording with this amp is a dream. It is very quiet for a tube amp. One of the main things I noticed while critically listening was the chiming harmonics and sustain; the strings just seemed to sing. The Treble and Bass response on the amp is amazing and the specially designed 10" speaker reproduces bright highs and a tight low end and surprisingly big sounding for its size. I have the Blond vinyl and Oxblood grill cloth model which makes for a classic Fender look of days gone by. I own a modified Fender Tweed Blues Jr., a Princeton Reverb RI, a Cybertwin, a G-Dec, Marshall MG and a Supersonic 22. This Super Champ stands tall along side of them all. Although 15 watts, it can still get loud. It is worth much more than the present price. This is definitely a keeper.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is not a bad amp compared to a lot in its price range. It has a variety of amp models and blends in a tube power amp backing to add some warmth to its models. 15 watts of power actually can get some decent volume cranked. Has 2 different channels one without effects and models and one with. The one thing I found impressive is that the high gain stuff actually sounds really really good to me. I was expecting a sterile fizzy gain but this is really smooth and easy to dial in. I really was happy with its sound. It handles mid gain and clean also incredibly well. The main drawbacks of this amp is that there is no mid control. Your mid frequencies seem to be set by what model you are using. Also the effects are fairly lackluster. All you have to control them is a selector knob and level control. While I feel this is good if you are looking to add a touch of reverb anything past 3 or 4 tends to overpower the rest of the amps tone and make it sound like you are in a cave or something. Additionally despite this amps sound after a year of moderate use it stopped providing a steady signal and would power on and then the sound would immediately fizz out. I thought it was the tubes at first but taking it to a tech revealed that the computer chip that controls all the models actually burnt out rendering this amp useless. Without the chip being replaced it is pretty much dead weight. I think its a good amp and I would end up giving it a better score if the durability and construction were a little better. I feel the ventilation could have been designed slightly more intuitively to limit this issue. I will not be buying another to replace and will instead be looking for an alternative all tube head.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I got really excited about this amp based on the reviews but it just does not hold up to real sound quality. We love small amps in Nashville because we play out so much, just roll into the venue and mic it up, but it just did not cut mustard. As an example, one great guitarist in town, Jack Pearson who played with the Allman Brothers for a couple of years, he usually plays though a blues junior, even in big venues and makes it scream. This amp wouldn't do it. The clean channel just does not break up, the modeled side sounds great in your living room but then as soon as you add a drummer or mic it, it reveals it's true self and admits that it does not indeed have that weight and throw of real tube drive.

So, I would buy this for my son or nephew etc to learn how to play guitar, but does not stand up to being an actually working man's amplifier. I see what they were trying to do, but I think that they just couldn't pull it off at that price point.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I have several much larger tube amps and solid state power amps but wanted something smaller and more portable that could deliver a rich and warm tube sound without sacrificing sound quality too much. After weeks of searching the web and my local music shops I decided to give the Fender superchamp X2 a go. This amp has been a great addition, very nice tubey sound from ch1 and lots of great amp models on ch2. You can get everything from vintage fender tube clean's to very nasty dirty gain and just about everything in between from this one little amp, tons of sound options a dial away. I play all styles of music from classical to metal and this amp handles it all very well. The amp arrived in perfect condition, no issues at all with packaging or shipping, the amp is well built, feels solid, and looks great. The reverb and delay effects are very nice, the chorus isnt the best ive heard but its far from terrible. I was a bit skeptical about a hybrid tube amp, but having had owned and played this amp now for a few months I am extremely happy with this purchase, and I dont think there is anything close to this for a versatile tube amp at this price.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a tube amp, but you will not get the organic break up like you would with a Pro Junior or Blues Junior. except for the clean, everything feels solid state. You will need to put a new speaker in it. There are three good choice from Eminence. 1058 (dark), Ragin Cajun (bright louder), Ramrod (warm louder).
Pretty much every feature you can get in a amp now days, except a tuner.
Standard Fender quality, you can't go wrong. You will need a new speaker.
This is Fender's least expensive tube amp.

I picked up the SCX2 because it sounded great, loved the simplicity of it and portability. I used it in the studio (a real one) for a day and got great tones, was thinking it was going to become my number one rig. Then I noticed "glassy pinging" during low notes and realized it had tube rattle. Since it hadn't even been a week, rather than retube, add "tube socks," etc., I took it back. Loved the tone, but tube rattle ruined it for me.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I was looking for a small and reliable tube amp for practicing at home and was attracted by the favorable reviews and price of the Super-Champ X2. I've had Fender amps in the past, and the clean sound of a Fender tube amp is a beautiful thing. However, this amp just doesn't deliver. Now I get it that it's small and should be expected to be limited in tonal possibilities. However, for an amp advertised as a "real tube amp," once you switch to the second channel to use the range of available "voicings" -- supposedly a significant feature of this particular model -- it pretty much sounds like a small solid state amp: it just doesn't have that sweet tube amp sound. For a small practice amp, it's perfectly acceptable yet underwhelming. But if you're looking for the sound of a tube amp, I'd try something else.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I would definitely buy this amp and reccomend it for any style of music. Great loud amp in a small package.
The first channel is scrictly a clean channel that will not break up no matter how hard you push it.The second channel is an amp simulator that does a really good job of sound matching fender and other amps. The spring reverb, tremelo and delay are the only effects of any use on this amp. The chorus ih aweful.
When ordering this amp also add a ragin cajun eminence speaker along with 12ax7 Elelcro Harmonic preamp tube. Replaced the original speaker and pream tube within in the first week. Amazing the difference it made. The cabinet is not much to speak of. Made of cheap wood.
For the money you will not find a better little amp once the upgrades are added.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I thought this amp had some great tones in it but I had issues with 2 of them. The first one had a crackling sound in the speaker. Sounded like cooking bacon. Didn't matter what setting or what volume I set it at. Returned it for another because I liked the tones. The 2nd one showed up and the cabinet had an aweful rattle, especially when I played low E,F, F# and G. I tried tightening all the screws but that didn't help. So I sent that one back too. I'm a little bummed out because of the good tones I was getting but I'm not gonna put up with the crackling and rattles. I will say that MF was awesome to work with on the returns, very friendly and easy to work with.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

What you get, for the money, is a nice little Fender tube amp. Add the footswitch, [for another cash outlay, plus a cable] a more useful amp with efx on/off and channel switching. Change the stock tubes and speaker, a much nicer amp.

The SC platform is reasonably versatile, and with some tweaking of the gain and tone knobs, the voices can be incredibly accurate. Don't think it is loud enough? Use the line out jack to the board, or another amp.

Watch your volume though, as each voice can jump in perceived output...why couldn't they have leveled them all equally?
Also, I find, on the more 'gain-y' setting/voices, that I can't 'clean up' the dirt from the guitar volume pot...the price of digital modeling, I guess...
Also, you can't upload the FUSE effects patch data into the amp! Pointless except for home recording. So that wheel of marvelous digital effects is limited to what the wheel allows you to combine. Want vibratone and delay? No, sorry...want chorus and reverb? Ain't happening. This has been an issue since the first SCXD, and Fender keeps its head in the sand. Push buttons for combining each effect would have been easy enough to do, guys!
All in all, though, a useful basic amp for a decent price that can be modified and upgraded.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

My main amp for years has been a Fender Deluxe, which has an all-tube signal path and wonderful sound. So I wasn't sure how I would like a small amp like the Super Champ. But I needed something that was easier to carry and still gives good sound. I have a small project studio in my basement and I play in church almost every weekend. The Fender Super Champ is a slight compromise in tone quality, but no one seems to notice except me. I love the fact that I can take a line-out direct to the sound board. It makes setup a snap.

The amp modeling is nice. The only thing I miss is feedback. The digital pre-amp makes it hard to get any kind of musical feedback, so it doesn't let you get full use of the tubes.

The size and weight make it perfect for gigging - if you play through a sound board. It ways a small fraction of what the Deluxe weighs, and that makes it worth it for me. I lose a little tone, but I save my back.

I have used it in the studio when I needed a quick guitar part and I didn't want to take the time to mike the Deluxe. It worked great and the customer was very impressed with the results. With all the amp models you can dial up just about any kind of crunch you want. The sound from the speaker is decent, especially for its small size. It will never sound like a big amp in a heavy cabinet, but all that subtle tone gets lost when you play with a band anyway.

The small tone goes away when plugged direct into the PA. The line-out signal is pretty good. You are not going to feel the thump you get from a big cabinet, but for small gigs this thing works great.

I bought the amp cover, foot switch, and an amp stand at the same time I bought the amp. The amp stand points the sound right at my face and that helps me hear when the stage gets loud. I highly recommend an amp stand for gigging with this little Champ.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I've been playing professionally for over 40 years. I've owned many Fender amps. I currently own a Pro Reverb (reissue) and a Deluxe VM.

I bought this amp (actually it's the original XD not the X2) because it sounded great in the store. Plus it was light. I was concerned it wouldn't be loud enough on stage but it has turned out to be fine as long as the band is not too loud (see video). I wish it was just a little louder so I could take it to jams where you never know how loud you might have to be.

Anyway, I love this amp. It may be my favorite of all the Fender amps I've owned over the years. I've had Twins, and Deluxe Reverb Reissues, Bandmasters, and an old Super Champ (80's?). This amp has great sounds but I mostly use the Tweed Model (#2) exclusively. It has the great breakup sound of a Deluxe on 8 but I can play it at any volume. It's a monster for recording. Lots of flexibility.

Yes the speaker could be better. But all you have to do is connect it to another cabinet and it rocks. I have a Thiele cabinet with a EV 12" speaker and the sound just gets better hooked up to it.

I like the reverb model but don't use any of the other effects. I've got a pedal board for anything else I need. I just bought it for the good sounds it has.

So far reliability has been good. No problems but I haven't been gigging with it regularly so who knows.

Anyway, bottom line. I might buy a few more just as backups. You can't beat the price so why not.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This little amp has some power to it. That was apparent right out of the box. I was able to play with another guitar, drums, and bass. With that said, the amp has two minor problems. I read the reviews about changing the speaker, so I purchased the Eminence Ragin Cajun, but tried out the factory speaker first. The standard speaker was just weak, it weighed maybe half that of the eminence speaker. Once I changed and broke the new speaker in, the sound was phenomenal. Not to mention that you can customize the voices and effects settings on the amp using the Fuse software. That made the sound even better. The second issue was the grill buzzing. This was easily fixed by putting some shims in between the bottom of the grill and the cabinet. So, if you are going to buy this amp, consider changing the speaker and that minor fix with the buzzing issue and you will have yourself a mean little combo that sounds great and is louder than it appears.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I wanted Fender Blackface tone in a small light reasonably priced package. Something that cleaned up well with a guitar's volume knob and didn't require pedals for some dirt. Reverb was a must, anything else was gravy. This amp delivers all of the above in spades - really!

The fuse software was a bonus that I really ended up appreciating. I used it to remove some harshness in the'80s Marshall model (which sounds identical to the harshness I dislike in REAL Marshalls) by routing the amp to an open back cabinet emulation instead of the default 4x12.

One word of warning: The cover that Fender supplies for this amp does not fit properly. The hole for the handle does not line up with the handle. I solved the problem (partially) by putting the cover on backwards with the logo in back.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This thing is a little beast. Great punchy dirty distortion, and great clean, and everything inbetween. Tons of power for in the house, or a garage band. It sounds a lot bigger than it is, but probably not quite enough for a noisey bar gig unless it's miced. But 15 tube watts? It sure sounds like a lot more. It cranks like the big dogs in the house. Over all I think this is the best amp I've ever had because it's got that cool Fender tube sound with all the affects and 16 different sounds they call "voice". Anyway, if you're thinking of this one you will most definitely be completely satisfied whether you're heavy metal or country, or anything else. It has all the sounds you will need for anything you play. I like to play a lot of Sabbath for instance and this little monster does it better than anything I've ever owned. If you play clean, it has a crystal clean you will love. This thing is a steal at this price. I wish they made a bigger version. I'd buy it right now.

This is my second review in less than a week. I don't know why this wasn't posted- but, here goes-this amp is no good. I agree with another reviewer that stated that the speaker was weak. I could not get a good tone from this amp because of the weak speakers. The amp sounded solid state. It didn't sound tubey like it was supposed to, that's why I bought it in the first place. Also the effects weren't good

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Great value in a 15W, 2 CH tube amp. I bought the Super Champ X2 based on positive experience with my Vibro Champ XD which I purchased for home use. Both these amps are a geat value in an all tube amp, BUT the Super Champ is 2 CH (foot switcheable) and 15W (vs. 5W for Vibro Champ). The Super Champ is powerful enough for small gigs.

Compare the Super Champ to other small, low watt amps and this comes out on top in my opinion. Portable, built in effects, all tube, strong enough for small gigs. You can't beat it.

Comments about Fender Super-Champ X2 15W 1x10 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I was actually trying out a re-issue Les Paul at a local shop and this little guy was the only one with a cable plugged in and powered on, so I hopped on it. After setting up the simple controls and dime-ing out the gain: I was suprised immediately at how well it sounded on mode 6, and immediately tried it on a higher level. Wow, nice meaty response every time it went up. I never used this amp before and it was pretty self explanitory immediately. It does do early pre-black metallica tone pretty well but Black label or 5 finger stuff you might need some help. But Hendrix or SRV riffs sounded awesome on it. I play a lot of different stuff and it handled everything from southern rock, metal, and blues pretty nicely. Even other customers in the shop liked it. I almost bought it on the spot, and glad I didn't. I saved a lot ordering it from here.Thing I didn't like about it was it only comes with a 10" speaker, I would rather of had other options, like a 12" or a head. I know Eminence makes some nice 10" replacements, but 12" speakers are easier to replace later.I would also have liked more tubes in the pre-amp section, but the one 12ax7 works well. I'll take a lot of heat plugging a Gibson into a Fender, but for this tone, I don't care. This was a very good buy at [$]
